[Bonus chapter]Spoilage

One week later...0

Heaven didn't need to do everything to move into the old residence. She only had to stay in and everyone else would do the job for her. Since this was only a temporary setup, she only needed some of her clothes and some things.

Dominic always spoiled her even before, but with her pregnancy, everyone was also spoiling her. From food, Ria made sure Heaven would eat only nutritious foods. Grandma Zhu would also spend some time with her in the garden, teaching her how to knit as Heaven picked up that hobby not long ago.

To help Dominic, Lionel took some minor work, even though he was already retired. In this way, Dominic didn't have to bury himself at work and could go home to his wife without worry. Even though Sebastian had already started school, he never left his mother's side whenever he came home from school.

Gifts from relatives continuously came when they got wind of Heaven's pregnancy. It had only been a week since they discovered a child in her womb and yet, so many things happened. Not that Heaven had complaints about it.

She felt spoiled and loved, and she was certain these emotions were also affecting the child growing in her womb.

"I still can't believe a life is growing inside me." Heaven gazed down as she touched her stomach, still in disbelief at the thought of carrying a child. "Everything still felt surreal."

"This isn't your first pregnancy."

Heaven looked up at the person sitting across from her in the garden. Her eyes instantly landed on the gorgeous Ivy Wei, who came to visit her friend.

"But well, I guess the first one was abrupt." Ivy cupped her cheek, smiling. "I came to check on you because I was a bit worried, but seeing you now, I guess I was worried about nothing."

"Why are you worried about me?" Heaven chuckled. "Mom and Dad had been supporting us, and Grandma always gave me time to accompany me. Basti is also growing protective of his little brother or sister, and Axel had been on the watch."

"I was worried because Silas also lives here." Ivy didn't beat around the bush. "Although Dom, Axel, and Silas practically grew up together, it's always been a disaster. Especially during their teenage days. That's why I was worried."

Heaven's smile softened. "Thank you, but don't you trust my husband? I'm sure you know him well. He wouldn't let me stay in a place that would affect me negatively."

"I know, but can you blame me?" Ivy let out a short chuckle, blinking ever so tenderly. "Gosh. Most of the people my age were either married or engaged. And here I am, still single."

"You can always get married if you want to." Heaven reached for the glass of fresh juice, sipping through the straw. "It's just that you chose not to."

Ivy burst out in laughter.

"Why?" Heaven tilted her head to the side. "Am I wrong?"

"No. You are correct." Ivy shook her head as her laughter subsided. "Anyway, how's the check-up?"

"Well, we went to the clinic the day after I tested the pregnancy tests. Everything is looking great. She advised me not to do too much work. That's why you saw me lazing around." Heaven grinned. "To be honest, I'm glad you came. Mom and Dad had to go out for a while and Grandma had to take a nap after taking her medicine."

Ivy smiled in satisfaction. "Good thing I came and followed my heart. I guess this is what they call friendship."

"Haha. I guess."

Both women chuckled, chatting about Heaven's experience over the past week. It was strange for Heaven that right after discovering her pregnancy; she started experiencing symptoms like morning sickness, nausea, and breast tenderness.

"I remember how Dominic panicked and wanted to rush me to the hospital when I had my first-morning sickness..." Heaven trailed off as her eyes veered to the maid, who was approaching them.

Curious, Ivy followed where Heaven was staring. As soon as she did, her eyes landed on a familiar maid Ivy hadn't seen in a long time.

"Hi, Miss Wei." The old maid grinned politely at Ivy, placing down the tray on the table.

"Mrs. Deng, it's been a while," said Ivy with a smile. "I haven't seen you in a while!"

"Hehe. I was stationed in the master's old residence," Mrs. Deng, the head maid in Dominic's mansion, explained. "I was called here to assist everyone due to the young madam's condition."

"Ohh..." Ivy rocked her head in understanding, raising her brows as Mrs. Deng continued to chat with her, but not with Heaven. When she glanced at Heaven, all she saw was Heaven sipping her juice nonchalantly.

"I made your favorite juice when I heard you are here, Miss Wei." Ivy snapped her eyes back to Mrs. Deng. "Tell me if you need anything."

"Thank you, Mrs. Deng."

Mrs. Deng bowed politely and then simply cast Heaven a slight bow before she left. When the head maid was out of sight, Ivy faced Heaven squarely.

"What's the matter with you two?" she asked without going around in a circle. "Are you on bad terms with Mrs. Deng?"

"Huh?" Heaven cocked her head to the side. "That's weird. If I had problems with her, she wouldn't be here. Also, I'm sorry to say this, but I don't like how you worded that sentence as if I have to be on her good side."

Ivy opened her mouth, but her voice didn't come out. "Sorry about that. It's just that I've known her for a very long time, and even though she isn't like Miriam, she is quite sweet. I'm just surprised by the subtlety she displayed."

"Not my problem." Heaven shrugged. "I don't want to stress myself and my child over someone like her."

"I see…" Ivy pressed her lips into a thin but didn't dwell on it.

"Anyway, there's actually something I'm curious about." Heaven changed the topic, staying away from the bad energy at the thought of Mrs. Deng. "How was the diamond venture going? Dominic would tell me about it every once in a while, but I want to know your perspective on it."

Ivy blinked. "I didn't know you were interested in it."

"Anything my husband does interests me."

"Haha." Ivy chuckled, looking up as she pondered about it. Since Heaven was Dominic's wife, he didn't find the need to hide anything, since there wasn't anything much about it so far.

As Ivy told Heaven everything she knew about this business venture, Heaven was observing someone else from the corner of her eyes: Mrs. Deng.
