[Bonus chapter]Don't lose the baby
Ivy Wei planned to stay and keep Heaven company until the latter's parent-in-law came. However, in the middle of their chat, Ivy received an emergency call. With a heavy heart, she had to bid Heaven goodbye. 1
Heaven was not someone who would hold anyone back. Therefore, she sent her off, despite Ivy's insistence not to bother.
"She didn't have to look at me as if she's going to abandon me," murmured Heaven, standing under the portico as she watched the vehicle speed away. "It's not like I will be alone once she leaves..."
The smile on her face faded slightly, turning her head back to the door. "Right, Silas?"
Silas was leaning against the jamb. His arms were folded under his chest, donning casual clothes, smiling at Heaven.
"Well, I was gravitating whether or not I should accompany my cousin's wife," he said with a friendly smile. "Considering how your husband and brother-in-law view me, I was afraid you are also wary of me."
"You haven't done anything to me," she replied, returning his smile with the same vibe. "I already had some snacks with Ivy, so I don't think I'll enjoy more snacks with you. However, if you want to accompany me, then you can join me as I knit some coasters."
"Sure."
And with that being said, Heaven and Silas headed to the main lobby. Her kits were already there since the weather was quite humid, and she didn't want to stay in the garden under such a temperature.
Heaven sat on the long couch where she immediately grabbed her kit to prepare herself to do her hobby. Meanwhile, Silas perched on the one-seater seat comfortably.
"I'm sorry that despite living under the same roof, I only mustered my courage to approach you." Silas was the first to strike up a conversation. "I didn't want to cause trouble or make them think I'm harassing you."
"That's a big word."
Silas shrugged. "You know Axel. He uses such words so lightly."
"He is still a child, so bear with him. I'm sure he'll mature eventually." Heaven maintained an amicable air, offering him a gentle smile as if she were an immaculate being. "He isn't that mean, and I'm certain you already know that."
"Yes." His lips stretched until his teeth were on full display. "I know one day he will have a full understanding of things."
This time, Heaven didn't answer anymore. Instead, she glanced down at the coaster she was knitting. Since becoming pregnant, Heaven told herself it was bad for the baby to hold sinister schemes. She wanted the child to be healthy and normal. Therefore, she kept reminding herself to stay stress-free.
However, deep in her heart, she couldn't fully stay carefree. Her decision to stay in the old residence was proof that regardless of her pregnancy, she couldn't neglect or ignore her instincts.
"Silas, I don't know much about you, and I don't want to judge you based on what I kept hearing from people." After a moment, Heaven spoke once again. She raised her head ever so slowly, locking her gaze with him almost instantly.
"However, I will tell you one thing," she continued, dawdling her words to sound more clearly. "Whatever you're planning... don't."
"Huh?"
"Focus on working on yourself and becoming a good individual," she added sincerely. "I know it's hard to live a life away from your father's shadow but prove them all wrong. Life is more than vengeance and heartaches. It is more than the problems and obstacles."
A subtle smile turned up on her face as she placed her kit on her lap. "I'm saying this because I know Grandma is hopeful. It's not too late to redeem yourself from the mistakes in the past."
"Young Madam."
Heaven fluttered her eyelashes as she glanced to the side, seeing Bear standing not far away from them. She already saw Bear coming, and that was why she said all those things to Silas.
"I forgot I have to discuss something with Mr. Cruel," she said as she set her eyes back on Silas. "Let's chat next time."
Heaven slowly rose to her feet with her kits in her hand. "It was nice talking to you, cousin. I hope you reconsider my advice." She tilted her head down before turning on her heel, about to walk away toward Bear when he spoke.
"What do you know, Heaven Liu?" Her steps halted as Silas spoke, making her look back at him. "I appreciate the advice, but somehow, it makes me feel it's not mere advice, but a warning. Am I wrong?"
"Think of it, whatever you like." Her smile didn't reach her eyes. "I'm just concerned, that's all. Have a good day."
Heaven tilted her head down once again, only for her smile to disappear with his parting remarks.
"I meant it when I said I appreciate the concern, cousin. However, you should focus on your pregnancy," he remarked, watching her lift her head. "Nine months is quite a long time, you know? A lot of things can happen."
Silas placed his hands on the armrests and sauntered towards Heaven. He stopped a step from her, resting his hand on her shoulder as he bent over to whisper in her ears.
"Don't lose the baby because you concern yourself over things other than your pregnancy," he whispered, sliding his eyes to the corner where she was. "It's hard to move around and beat people up with a child in your womb. It's dangerous."
When he straightened his back and retrieved his hand from her shoulder, he smirked.
"Think of my words however you like," he continued, as his eyes drooped menacingly. "But I am simply concerned, that's all. Anyway, I won't take up too much of your time. I'll see you around."
With that being said, Silas glanced in Bear's direction and flashed the latter a smile. He then strutted away with an air of indifference. Meanwhile, Heaven stood on the same spot and her eyes were fixed on his back.
'It never crossed me that that incident with Axel… involves another party,'she thought, remembering that time she beat those rogues upon Silas's remarks. Those were the only people whom she brutally beat up without too much planning.
"Hah…" Heaven placed her hand on her stomach, keeping her eyes on Silas's back. "I guess my advice was already late."
