Hell's revival
"This is quite a lot," Heaven admitted, counting all the issues they have at hand, which had their own severity. "Silas, Primo, this diamond venture, and so on. Just why is my husband so daunting?"2
"The thing is, the more they provoked him with death threats, the more he was determined to push through this project to spite everyone."
"That sounds like my husband. How sexy." Heaven whistled with pride, but Bear's face turned darker. "Anyway, any news about Primo? Had he killed Joker?"
"I hope, but Gray told me he saw a ping from Joker the other day."
"So, he's still alive, huh?"
"Unfortunately."
Heaven glanced at him but kept her comments to herself. "Knowing him, he wouldn't let Primo off the hook. He will get even. Meaning, he'll keep the man busy. However, I'm bothered about one thing."
"Tiger..." she trailed off, tapping her finger against the armrest. "... he said something weird."
"He always says the strangest and the most nonsensical things."
"He said Primo Rossi isn't Primo Rossi."
Bear furrowed his brows. "Why am I only hearing this now?"
"I got busy." Heaven drew a deep breath, closing her eyes momentarily. "Track down Joker, and drag his ass to me. I already dug deep into Primo Rossi, but nothing in there says he wasn't Primo Rossi. Joker is the only person I can think of who was capable of getting the answers I want about that prick."
"But if I dragged him here..." Bear paused as his face darkened. "Does this mean...?"
"I'm pregnant, Bear. It's the wish I've always prayed for as Hera and Heaven Liu. I don't want to mishandle the thing I prayed for." Heaven faced his direction squarely. "I can't lose this child because if I do... I might really lose my mind. With everything that is going on and about to happen, I can't have second thoughts."
She peeled her gaze from him as a determined glint flickered across her eyes. "Heaven doesn't have any powers or capabilities to actually do anything in this situation. However, Hera can."
"Four death threats?" the corner of her mouth curled up into a sinister smirk. "Tell Gray to find all the senders of those death threats and send them back a surprise."
"Are you... sure about this?"
"I've never been so determined." Her eyes slid to the corner. "We need to keep some things at bay while I settle the current issues of this family."
A moment of silence befell their shoulders as Bear studied her side profile. Seeing the calm yet sharp look on her countenance, he couldn't help but speak in his mind.
'This is Hera for sure,'he told himself, sensing the familiar decisiveness and fierceness of the boss he used to know.
Ever since she revealed that she was actually Hera inside Heaven Liu's body, Bear would occasionally see his boss by her actions, way of speaking, and perspective on things. However, compared to the Hera he knew, she was very tame.
But now, there was no trace of Heaven Liu or the changed Hera in her.
The woman sitting on the rocking chair was definitely the ruthless demoness everyone had watched out for. Who would have thought that in the end, she wouldn't hesitate to let her true self take charge just to protect the child in her womb?
"Alright." Bear lowered his head after another deep exhale. "Should we keep them alive?"
"Just scare them all off for a bit." Heaven slowly cast him a side-eye. "Name the sender under my name."
This time, deep lines appeared between his brows. "Boss, don't tell me --"
"If you want to keep everyone busy, then that name is enough," she shrugged indifferently. "Gray might not like it, but I'm sure you can persuade him. Moreover, putting my name out there will divert their attention from my husband. They can't point their fingers at him when Hell is after them."
Bear pressed his lips into a thin line, reluctant at this additional instruction. However, he understood where she was coming from. What she said made sense. Aside from the members of the organization, most people in the underground didn't know Hera was dead.
All they knew was that she went crazy and disbanded her own organization. Even so, that story wasn't something people trusted. A lot of people thought the news was a lie, and the leader of the notorious assassin group remained at large.
That was technically true, though.
"I'll send you my signatures later," she broke the brief silence, eyes back on the landscape to keep half of her mind at peace. "Make sure this news will be large enough to reach the ears of some people."
"Even if I don't purposely do that, I'm sure this will spread like wildfire." Bear tilted his head down. "I kept a few of your signatures. No need to send me another one."
When he raised his head, his eyes fell on the knits on her lap. "That coaster is ugly," was his parting remark before turning on his heel to give her some time.
Meanwhile, Heaven instantly lifted the coaster she was knitting with an ugly frown.
"It's not ugly," she murmured to herself. "It's still a work in progress. How can he be so judgemental?"
She clicked her tongue, looking back to where he went to. Bear was already out of sight, making her sigh deeply.
"He probably thinks I'm being rash," she whispered, peeling her gaze from the door to the scenery ahead. "But people only listen to Hera and not Heaven."
Heaven already hinted to Dominic she didn't like this new business venture. However, her husband was determined to get something from it. She didn't want to discourage him, as she was too weak when it came to her husband's wants. Thus, the only solution she could think of was reviving Hera.
That name alone was enough to shake people up.
'In the end, I still have to turn to her name to protect people.' Heaven placed her hand on her tummy, patting it mildly. 'I'm sorry, baby. This is the only method I know to protect you and Daddy. Once everything is over, Mommy will only think of happy thoughts, okay?'
A subtle smile appeared on her face, gazing down at her stomach where her child was growing.
