SLAM!0

Silas panted for air, holding the door still. His teeth were clenched and his heart was racing to all the running and adrenaline surging throughout his every nerve.

"That bitch..." he let out a scoff, double-locking the door before tilting his head to the slim glass window beside the door. "Hah."

The moment he peeked at the window that was on either side of the door, he caught Heaven sauntering toward the door. Heaven bent slightly, ruffling Mercy's head with a devious smile. When Mercy licked her hand and rested on the side, Heaven straightened her back. She faced the slim window where he stood, looking at him with a crafty smirk.

'This damn wench...'Silas mentally laughed, watching her advance in his direction until she was standing in front of him.

Knock knock.

Heaven tapped at the glass with the fork she was carrying, making him arch his brows. Just when he thought she was going to say anything, Heaven kept the fork's end on the glass, only to scratch the glass with it.

'Argh!' Silas clenched his teeth, taking a step back as the sound made his teeth wobble.

Scratch...

Pinching his one ear, Silas kept his eyes on the woman standing on the other side of the window. Heaven kept a straight face while scratching the window as if she was immune to the ear-splitting noise.

"Haha..." she laughed as she stopped after several seconds, tapping the fork on the glass lightly. "I didn't know you could run so fast. I think you just broke the Guinness record today."

"Hah..." the corner of his mouth curled up, miffed at the obvious ridicule.

At this moment, Heaven truly seemed deranged. If anyone else was seeing her, she would surely make them run away. How could this woman bring that black panther into the north wing and let it run around? Does she know why Mercy was kept in the greenhouse and in that area alone? And why only Butler Fu and a few people were allowed to be there?

'It's that damn old hag's fault,' came a thought in his mind as his countenance slowly turned sharp and menacing.

Silas sauntered toward the window once again, standing in front of it to see her up close. Heaven briefly raised her brows, biting her bottom lips with eyes swirling with blood lust.

"Are you happy now?" he asked quietly, and his voice to the other side sounded muffled. "Laugh now, Heaven Liu. But I won't forget about it."

"Good." Heaven suddenly slammed her palm against the transparent glass, leaning forward. "Don't ever dare forget about this, Silas."

Her lips parted, fluttering her eyelashes ever so slowly. Yet, the sharp glint in her eyes was enough to send a chill down anyone's spine.

"Crazy bitch..." he scowled under his breath, only to make her smirk stretch.

"Yes, I'm that crazy bitch." Heaven leaned even closer, taunting him. "You're lucky that Grandma is safe. The next time you pull off something like that, I will really make you Mercy's dinner."

She drew her head back, and an innocent smile replaced the initial look on her face. "Don't forget whose palm you're standing on, Silas. You might end up forcing that hand to clutch and crush you in it." Her eyes squinted as her smile stretched from ear to ear.

"See you around, cousin~!" Heaven waved happily before turning around, holding her hand behind her. "Mercy, let's go. I brought your dinner to the pavilion."

Mercy let out a low growl, watching her figure walk away from the small portico of the north wing. The blank panther slowly rose, turning its head back to the entrance. Its eyes shone in bright gold as if warning Silas it'd save him for seconds before Mercy followed Heaven to the pavilion.

"Ha ha..." Watching Mercy calmly follow Heaven, Silas couldn't help but laugh in ridicule. "How humiliating."

A menacing glint flickered in his eyes at the growing humiliation in his heart. The more he looked at Heaven and Mercy's departing figures, the more Silas realized how pathetic he looked moments ago. After all, he ran as if his life depended on it while Heaven cheered on the sidelines.

Now that he thought about it, Mercy was trained by Grandma Zhu and Butler Fu. Mercy was not someone to attack, just anyone, especially the family. Though Mercy would intimidate the family's relatives, there wasn't a case where Mercy ravaged someone who worked for the Zhu family.

"Haha... surely, this is degrading." Silas laughed in ridicule, shaking his head. "Heaven Liu."

The smile lines on his face faded, setting them on the distant pavilion where Heaven idled with Mercy. "You're going to pay for humiliating me like this."

Silas huffed as he turned on his heel, walking back to his quarters. As he did so, he stretched his stiff neck from one side to the other. But before Silas could take the stairs to the second floor, he caught a figure standing from the corner of his eyes.

"Hmm?" he arched a brow, turning his head to the person's figure.

There, standing in the corner of the small lobby of the north wing, was Butler Fu. The latter had his lips drawn on a thin slash, eyes on Silas.

"I knew it." Silas scoffed, holding the stair railing. "It's impossible for Heaven Liu to command that cat in such a short time. It was you, was it?"

"Sir Silas, the madam, might've let things slide because you are family." Butler Fu ignored the allegations, maintaining a stern countenance. "However, please do not repeat what you did today. Because the next time, even if you are a part of this family, I might disobey the madam's orders for the first time."

"Take this as a word of advice from an old man with humble beginnings," he continued, lowering his head that shaded his face from the lights filtering through the window. "As much as possible, do not break your grandmother's heart. Your father already broke her heart with no repair. Don't follow in his footsteps."

"Hah…" Silas only laughed dryly, shaking his head before peeling his gaze from the butler. "You're quite old too, Butler Fu. You should just stay quiet, just like what you have always done."

He took a few steps on the stairs before he stopped, setting his attention back to Butler Fu as if he had forgotten something. "And also! stop saying I'm following my father's footsteps. That man… is pure disappointment. I am not like him and I will never be like him. I'm better than him."
