[Bonus chapter] You are invited to the circus.
"By the way, Dom, how's the progress of the diamond venture?" 2
Dominic slowed down in lifting the blanket, joining her in the bed. "It's doing fine."
"Oh?" Heaven rocked her head.
"We are discussing checking the mine in a month, but there's no set date yet. After all, my schedule, Kaiden's, and Ivy's, should match. Right now, it's hard to tweak our schedule, especially mine."
"I know." Heaven smiled, making his brows rise. "What?"
"Hmm... nothing." Dominic shook his head mildly. "I just thought you would tell me not to go."
"Huh? Why?"
"You've been against it." He shrugged. "Or rather, not fond of the idea of this venture."
"You want it so bad, so how can I stop you?" Heaven pouted, moving closer to his side of the bed. "So, where is this mine?"
"In the north."
"North?"
"Manica," he clarified, studying her reaction.
Heaven didn't react strongly, as she only stared at him blankly. It was hard to discern if that reaction was a surprise or something else.
"You're going to Manica?" she repeated in a questioning tone, watching him nod. "Are you sure?"
Deep lines appeared between his brows. "Why?"
"I heard it's a dangerous place." Heaven pressed her lips into a thin line, holding his hand to squeeze it. "Dom, I know this is your business, but do you really have to go to such a dangerous place?"
Dominic's lips parted, but his voice rolled back to his throat. All he could do for a moment was stare at her, sighing after a minute.
"It's still in the talks because Mr. Zhang and Dad are strongly against it as well." He smiled reassuringly. "Things can still change, so don't worry."
'Good thing Dane Zhang sometimes makes sense.'Heaven smiled at him, stretching her neck to plant a quick peck on his cheek. His brows rose slightly as she drew her head back, crawling his hand to her leg.
"You tired?" he asked, squeezing her thigh while moving his upper body over her.
Heaven instinctively leaned back until she felt the soft mattress on her back. The side of her mouth curled up, cupping his face before closing her eyes as he lowered his head, sealing her lips with his.

[Days later, in the LYON Group Headquarters]
"I'm not going," Dominic announced, causing a wave of silence in the small conference room where some people were in.
The other two, Ivy and Kaiden Wang, who were sitting around the small oval table, separately looked at Dominic with furrowed brows. It was just the three of them, discussing their first move on this project.
"Huh?" Kaiden Wang tilted his head to the side, confused. "Miss Wei, should I visit the hospital and get my ear checked? I think I'm hearing things."
"Mr. Zhu, what do you mean by that?" Ivy ignored Kaiden Wang's remarks, sitting in a random chair on Dominic's left. Kaiden Wang was on the other side while Dominic was in the head seat at the end. "We've already confirmed our trip to Manica, and I even contacted some of my associates about the dates."
"I'm not going." Dominic blinked, adamant. "We have to move the meeting place. Manica is far too dangerous."
"But you're the one who said you want to go there!" Ivy scoffed, a little frustrated at this sudden change of plans.
"I realized my family is growing bigger, and it'll be too risky for me if something bad happens," explained Dominic monotonously. "It's not good for my wife's health if she worries about me too much."
"Could you have thought about that before?" Kaiden Wang pinched the bridge of his nose in distress, while Ivy's countenance darkened. "I'm also worried that you two would be in danger. I don't want that."
Shameless!
Who was he kidding?
The two of them were against the idea of going to Manica themselves, suggesting they should meet halfway with some of their affiliates in another country close to it. However, Dominic thought the experience would be different and that the goods might not arrive on time. But now he was spewing all this nonsense?
"Don't worry. I'll take full responsibility," Dominic reassured, unbothered by the glare from Ivy. "I already told Mr. Zhang about it and he said he will arrange another meeting. I apologize for this. It seemed I had been hasty with my decisions recently."
"You were." Kaiden Wang nodded, not denying the aggressiveness Dominic had been displaying. "Anyway, since that's all, I don't have anything against it. After all, I was having second thoughts about this trip."
"Dominic Zhu, make sure this is the last time you'd make such huge changes. If you're not sure, then don't decide yet." Ivy snatched her purse from the table aggressively. "I hate putting my name out there for your sake. This will be the last time. Also, have mercy on Mr. Zhang. He has to work overtime with such a selfish boss."
Kaiden Wang chuckled, pushing himself up when Ivy stood. "I'll be busy in a few days, but I'll keep in touch."
"Thank you for extending your understanding."
"Do we have a choice?" Kaiden humored. "Thank you for your time, Mr. Zhu."
Dominic rose from his seat as the two bid their farewell. He remained in his spot as the two walked away together, sighing. It wasn't true that the talk about this business trip wasn't final yet, just as what he told Heaven.
It was already final, and they were already in the preparation phase.
'I've been hasty…' he told himself, dragging his feet to the floor-to-length window, hands on his back. "The thought of marrying her before birthing our second child compels me to make a hasty decision."
Another sigh slipped past his nostrils before his brow arched. Dominic slowly gazed up, seeing a small drown outside the building descend. His first instinct was to call security or run, but seeing the drone type, he knew it was harmless.
"What is this?" he muttered, flinching slightly when the drone projected a dark green message on the window.
[You are invited to the circus.]
Dominic read the message with narrowed eyes, noticing the small clown logo in a circus at the of the message.
