[Bonus chapter]Are you at ease now?

0GASP!

Heaven gasped for air, sitting up on instincts. Her heart was thudding as drops of sweat covered her forehead and drenched her back.

"Heaven, are you okay?"

Her eyes shook as she blinked, moving them to the person beside her. Relief instantly surged in her heart as she leaped, throwing herself at Dominic. The latter furrowed his brows, rubbing her trembling back.

"It's just a nightmare…" he said reassuringly, feeling her body vibrate against him. "Everything is okay. It's just a bad dream. It's okay. I'm here."

Heaven clutched his back, shutting her eyes as she listened to his soothing voice. She couldn't say a word as her heart was racing so fast she had to catch her breath. When she calmed down, Dominic sat her with her back against the headboard before fetching her a glass of water.

"Here," he said, handing her a glass of water as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Thanks." Her voice was coarse. She took a sip while Dominic kept his eyes on her.

"I heard you mumbling in your sleep as if you were struggling. I tried to wake you up," he said as she swallowed a mouthful of water. "How are you feeling now?"

"I'm… okay, better." She pressed her lips into a thin line, moving her gaze down at the glass of water in her hand. Her heart barely calmed down, but the fear in it was still vivid.

'What an ominous dream,' she thought, still remembering the nightmare she had just now.

Heaven didn't want to think about it, but she couldn't help it. The explosion was deafening, just like how she remembered it in her past life. Her fingers began to tremble again, recalling that Dominic was inside the vehicle when it exploded.

"Is it really that bad?" he asked, earning her attention. "You seem… terrified."

His eyes scanned her face and how the colors on it drained.

"You died… isn't that bad?" she whispered, biting her inner lower lip. "You were off to work and I sent you off like usual. But the car you were in exploded right before you passed through the gates and I… just stood there, watching your car burn with you in it."

Heaven pressed her lips as she gazed down again. "I thought it was real."

Dominic's lips parted, but then closed his mouth again. Her shoulders were shaking, and he had never seen his wife look so terrified in the past.

"Come here," he breathed out, moving closer to her to embrace her. "I'm okay, love."

Heaven nudged her head as she rested the side of her head on his shoulder. Dominic stroked her back, planting kisses on her head to comfort her.

"I don't like this," she remarked under her breath. "Don't leave me like that. I'm scared."

"Mhm. I won't."

"Check your cars if there're any explosives or if there's a problem with the engine."

"I will… for sure."

This time, Heaven pulled away from him to look him in the eye. "I'm serious, Dom. I know I probably look paranoid right now, but you really have to be careful."

"You're not paranoid and I am taking this seriously." Dominic cupped her cheek, nodding at her reassuringly. "Nothing like that will happen. All cars that I used go through daily check-ups. So even if someone put explosives on it, it'll be found before I can ride it."

The corner of his mouth curled up into a short smile. "If you're paranoid, then Mr. Zhang is much worse. I know you aren't fond of Mr. Zhang, but he takes special measures for my safety. I didn't tell you about it because I thought it was unnecessary. But I'm careful, always been."

"Is… that so?" Her lips quivered a bit as her brows elevated.

"Mhm." Dominic rocked his head. "So, that dream… will always be a dream. It's not real and even if it is, it'll be found before it can leave the garage."

Heaven assessed his face to see the sincerity in his eyes. She heaved a sigh of relief, leaning forward to rest her head on his shoulder again.

"If you say so," she mumbled. "That dream scared me."

"Haha. Even it would scare me if I had it." Dominic casually stroked her back once again, only to notice it was damped. "I'll get you a change of clothes. Your clothes are…"

"Stay here for a while." Heaven didn't budge, closing her eyes to rest them. "Stay here just for a minute. I need to make sure this isn't a dream anymore."

"But it's not good for the baby if you get a cold."

Heaven didn't answer, nor did she move, making him sigh.

"Just for a while then," he said, slipping his hand inside her shirt to put a distance between the damped fabric and her back.

******

It took Heaven a while to completely calm down, so Dominic stayed up with her. Even though it was late in the night and he needed to work early, he insisted on chatting with her until she had fallen asleep. Still, the nightmare she had stayed in her mind until the next day.

"Uh…" Dane Zhang opened and closed his mouth like a fish, but was unable to say a word. All he could do was stare at the crowd — yes, a crowd inspecting his boss's car.

'What the…' Dane turned his head, casting his boss a look who was watching not far away from him. Beside Dominic was Heaven, stretching her neck to see what the people were doing.

'This is her doing again, is it?' Dane mentally grumbled, glaring daggers at his boss's wife, who was a troublemaker. 'Is she purposely making us run late?!'

"Everything is clear here." Bear straightened his back after careful inspection, casting some mechanics that he called early in the morning, a look. After a moment, the people inspecting the car also announced the vehicle was safe and running.

"I see…" Heaven heaved a sigh of relief before facing Dominic.

"Are you at ease now?" Dominic smiled, stroking her head gently.

"Yes." Heaven nodded. "But they have to do it daily."

"What?" This time, Dane Zhang chimed in. "Young madam, what do you mean by that?! If they do this daily, then I'm afraid we'll be late every day! Or maybe sacrifice sleep and wake up earlier!"

Heaven frowned at Dane but ignored him. She looked at Dominic, pulling out the puppy card look. Seeing that expectant look in her eyes, Dominic bit his tongue.

How could he say no?

Dane was right that they had to get up early if these people would do this daily. However, for his wife's peace of mind.

'Oh, hell no! He will agree!' Dane mentally gasped, seeing that look on Dominic's face. 'This is too much!'

"How about I do the last inspections to put the young madam's heart at ease?" Before Dominic could give Heaven an answer, Bear raised a hand. "Mr. Zhang already has people to check the master's vehicle, but I can do a quick look while they have breakfast. In that case, everyone's schedule wouldn't be compromised."

Dane blinked before his eyes sparkled, looking at Bear as if he was his savior. Meanwhile, Dominic didn't react much at the suggestion but cast his wife a look.

"What do you think?" he asked, bringing a deep frown to Dane's face.

"Hmm…" Heaven kept her gaze on Bear for a while, lips closed. "Sure."

She faced Dominic once again and smiled. "I think that's a good idea."

"Then, that's settled."
