When Xia Ning came back, she immediately sensed the weirdness in the room. She went straight to prepare the tea.1

Qiao Yu and Zeng Jun stopped playing chess and instead, they looked at Xia Ning.

Xia Ning gave a cup of tea to each one of them and she herself also took a cup and sipped some tea.

Zeng Jun nodded. "Let's discuss the script now."

Lin Nan took the scripts from the table and distributed them.

Upon opening the script, Zeng Jun started explaining at once. In the meantime, he asked Xia Ning and Lin Nan to express their ideas too.

Xia Ning had spent a long time on this script so she had no pressure at all.

Qiao Yu looked at Xia Ning and his eyes looked deep. Even though he had seen her act, he had rarely seen her in full working mode like this. She had unique views of every single word.

He started to realize that he knew very little about her.

"This is your father's script and he intended for your mother to play the leading role. Since your mother is gone, you should be the one to carry this on." Zeng Jun closed the script and looked at Xia Ning. "That's why I chose you. It doesn't mean I recognize your acting skills."

Xia Ning stared at Zeng Jun and said in a serious voice, "I understand. But I still want to thank you for giving me this opportunity, Director Zeng."

Qiao Yu's eyes flashed. He looked at Xia Ning. Her father? Her mother?

Lin Nan continued, "I've heard Director Zeng talking about Xia Ning's father last time. Is her father a director as well?"

In the parking garage, the three of them went to pick up their cars. Lin Nan suggested they have dinner together. Qiao Yu did not answer but looked at Xia Ning.

Xia Ning did not mind so they picked a nearby restaurant for dinner.

On the table, they did not look very enthusiastic about each other. First of all, Lin Nan could feel Qiao Yu's awkward attitude to him and he did not really feel like being friendly to this kind of rich people as well.

And Xia Ning was busy eating as if she wanted to finish this task.

"Have more chicken."

"This pork is good."

The two men said simultaneously.

Qiao Yu darted a look at Lin Nan and there was some darkness under his eyes.

Lin Nan did not expect Qiao Yu to be getting food for Xia Ning himself. He felt a bit awkward but in the meantime, he was pretty sure that Qiao Yu was into Xia Ning.

Xia Ning darted a look at the food from the two, and said calmly, "I don't feel like eating meat today. I like veggies." As she spoke, she took some vegetables with her chopsticks.

Qiao Yu frowned slightly and did not speak. He did not move his chopsticks anymore.

After dinner, Xia Ning drove away directly.

But Qiao Yu stopped Lin Nan. "Do not think about someone who does not belong to you."

Lin Nan frowned. "I don't understand what you are saying, President Qiao."

Qiao Yu did not even look at him. "If you don't understand, I will make you understand." As he spoke, he walked into the car.
