I haven't missed you at all (part 1)

At the stroke of midnight, Adela addressed the majordomo outside her chamber door.2

"The situation is quite concerning, Bernard. If Larissa is indeed the target of these inexplicable attacks, it is imperative that I inform His Excellency immediately."

Bernard, known for his stoic demeanor, appeared visibly alarmed. He was not only troubled by the disturbing news of malevolent entities targeting Larissa for unknown reasons but also by Adela's presence at the manor as she should have been awaiting her husband's return in the neighboring estate of House von Conradie.

"Do we possess the necessary mana reserves to activate the gate to Kolhis?" She asked.

He adjusted his monocle, "Regrettably, My Lady, our mana reserves were depleted by His Excellency when he used them recently."

Adela nodded in understanding. "That is a shame."

She was resolved to make her way to Destan soon and uncover the whereabouts of Lanark's mana stones. Every bit of Lanark's wealth must be reclaimed and restored to its rightful place.

"...Then, please, send our swiftest messenger falcon. I will personally compose a letter to summon His Excellency back to the estate."

"Certainly, My Lady. I will attend to it immediately."

"Thank you, Bernard."

"Of course, My Lady."

After ensuring that her mother and sister were resting in the Archduchess's chambers and that the patrolling knights were efficiently deploying the messenger falcons, Adela returned to her room.

She allowed herself a moment to collapse onto her bed, her tired body aching with stress and anxiety.

I mustn't fall asleep before sending that letter.

As she lay there, her limbs feeling like lead, a surge of energy coursed through her. Her veins pulsed with newfound vitality, and her heart raced at the sudden stirring in her stomach. The mate bond signaled Egon's swift and imminent return.

He's here already? It felt like he was both early and late simultaneously. Adela approached her window, squinting into the darkness, attempting to discern his shape as she opened it, half-expected him to sneak into her room through the window just as he had done not long ago.

When the mate bond's tug indicated his approach from the opposite direction, she turned around. It felt strange to her, the idea of him entering her room through the door.

He is your husband now!

Two knocks on her door caused her heart to skip a beat.

"Come in," she responded in a low tone, reminding herself to stay angry with him for leaving her so easily.

As the door opened, the first thing she noticed were his black half-gloves beneath his all-black Kolhisan armor. Her gaze then moved upward, identifying his bow and arrows, which he carefully set on the ground before entering, his commanding aura filling the emptiness of her room and her heart.

When her eyes reached his face, she saw that his jaw was clenched, and his brown eyes, finally back to their natural color, made it clear that he likely had no idea what had transpired earlier in the day.

Hadn't he conversed with anyone on his way here?

"Why did you come here?" He demanded, his anger evident as he removed his armor piece by piece. The longer she hesitated in answering, the more forcefully he cast the pieces to the ground, until he stood before her in only his undergarments. He closed the distance between them, his eyes still insisting on an answer.

She gazed into his eyes, conflicted by the question and simultaneously seeking answers to her own unspoken queries.

"What right do you have to ask me that?"

He glared down at her. "What's next? Are you going to request that I return from where I came?"

"Why not?" She fired back, her glare meeting his as her breasts accidentally brushed against his heaving chest. "I haven't missed you at all!"

His expression shifted, and in the span of a heartbeat, his dark eyes brimmed with lust. "Same here," he murmured before scooping her up and passionately pressing his lips to hers.

His mouth was hot, hungry, and aggressive, kissing her vengefully. She responded in kind, her fingers intertwining with his hair as she tugged at the roots.

Their hearts and the bond between them were ablaze with an overwhelming urge for release, and the rest of Egon's actions happened in a blur. His hands swiftly raised his wife's skirt as he continued to support her weight. She startled as the glove brushed against her undergarment, but it wasn't to gain entry; it was to forcefully tear them wide open.

In another shuffling motion beneath her, she felt his erection between her thighs.

"Adelaide, focus here," he urged, prompting her to meet his gaze once more. She complied, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she realized she had been inadvertently captivated by her husband's alluring lips until he addressed her.

"Ah!"

With one swift move, he was inside of her. It was both, agonizing and profoundly comforting.

"Stay still," he cautioned.

He slowly walked without pulling out of her, each step sent waves of pleasure rippling up and down her spine. He wore a knowing smile as he continued to support her, gently lowering both of them onto the edge of her bed.

"You can move now."

Both of them moved slowly after that. The rhythmic movements of their bodies synchronized perfectly with the kiss that had begun again. The connection she shared with him, binding them together both physically and spiritually, always felt harmonious to her, igniting an irresistible desire to experience more of Egon. It was never enough.

"You are a garden of jasmine," he uttered in awe before devouring her lips and feeding her his once more.

And You smell like my home. She silently held onto these words, reluctant to interrupt their kiss with speech. She was sinking even deeper into love for her husband, completely enveloped in Egon. He was the very air she inhaled, the essence residing within her. She had merged with him.

Adela clung to her husband tightly, her fear of his disappearance returning the moment she released her grip.
