Huo Yao glanced sideways at Shangguan Yun. He was just a kid with hardly any life experience. 1

Shangguan Yun rolled on the couch briefly before he looked again at Huo Yao. She was sitting at the dining table looking at her phone. It seemed as though she was waiting for someone. He asked. "Are we expecting someone?"

Huo Yao acknowledged without so much as raising her head. "Your future brother-in-law."

"I see." Shangguan Yun sat leaning on the couch. After some time, he finally detected something amiss and opened his eyes wide in astonishment. "Did you just say future brother-in-law?"

"Unless you have hearing problems."

The private room door happened to open right then.

Min Yu walked in dressed in a dark coat. He was slightly cold since he had just come in from outside. He was only able to see Huo Yao from his angle, so he failed to detect the boy lying on the couch.

"Did you wait for long?" Min Yu took off his coat as he walked over. Just as he was about to sit on the couch, he saw Shangguan Yun lying on the couch and made eye contact with him.

Min Yu went quiet and Shangguan Yun was startled to see him.

The two of them quietly observed each other.

Shangguan Yun hurriedly stood up awkwardly and felt embarrassed.

Min Yu looked at Shangguan Yun before veering his eyes. He turned to look at Huo Yao and asked. "Who's the boy?"

After Huo Yao was done sending the last text message to the research team group chat, she raised her head slowly. "This is Huo Yun. He's family."

Min Yu raised his brow. His voice softened. "Is he your little brother? I don't recall you mentioning a little brother."

Huo Yao placed her phone in her pocket and made a random excuse. "He's a distant relative."

Shangguan Yun had already stood up and walked over. He pulled out a chair beside Huo Yao, sat down, and leaned his arm against her seat backrest casually. He kept trying to demonstrate he was very close to Huo Yao. He griped miserably. "I'm hungry."

Shangguan Yun had not seen Huo Yao in two to three years. By the time they finally reunited, she was already seeing someone. Shangguan Yun naturally had trouble accepting this.

Min Yu noticed the boy acting territorial about Huo Yao. He sighed inside. Yet another boy in the family had surfaced and he was bound to spell trouble for his dating life.

"I will send for food," said Min Yu. He walked to the side and pressed the bell for service.

Shangguan Yun pursed his lips and asked Huo Yao in a soft voice. "What kind of family does he come from? How's his financial situation? I know he's good-looking, but he doesn't look very reliable to me."

Min Yu had sharp ears. He went quiet upon hearing this.

Huo Yao's lips twitched. She turned her head. "If he doesn't have the money, are you going to pay for me?"

"That goes without saying. You're like a sister to me. It's only right for me to help financially!" said Shangguan Yun with a straight face.

Huo Yao smiled as she raised her hand and rubbed his head.

Shangguan Yun felt a little upset that Huo Yao was seeing someone. The moment she touched his head, he felt a lot better. Even then, he was not interested in anyone other than Huo Yao.

Over dinner, Shangguan Yun kept placing food in Huo Yao's bowl and talking to her. He ignored the man sitting across from him the entire time.

He could only feel a higher sense of self-worth by monopolizing her attention.

After they were more or less done with dinner, Shangguan Yun went to the bathroom.

Min Yu pulled out a piece of tissue and wiped his mouth. He looked at Huo Yao and sighed. "You could have told the boy the truth. I can easily afford to pay for you and even him. I have enough in my bank to last us ten lifetimes."

Huo Yao raised her brow and glanced at the man sitting across from her. "Young Master Min, are you bragging about your wealth in front of me?"
