He Xiaoman inhaled deeply and could no longer suppress her annoyance. "Are you that heartless?"

Huo Yao looked at her calmly. "I don't understand what you are saying."

The moment she finished her sentence, she left the broadcasting room.

The two students in charge of the broadcasting room were waiting outside. Even though they were standing next to the door, they could not make out the conversation inside. They looked at each other when they saw Huo Yao's expressionless face as she walked out.

He Xiaoman hurriedly went chasing after her.

Huo Yao was walking quickly after she left the broadcasting room. The offices were located on the other end of the corridor.

A group of people walked out of the principal's office. They were dressed in suits and gave off an aloof aura.

"Principal Yu, that settles it for the Department of Education's special concerns…" The Director of Education was still talking to Principal Yu with Lin Shuwen standing beside him. He looked at Lin Shuwen every now and then as he spoke.

Lin Shuwen was sending orders to his subordinates via text messages when he raised his head and caught sight of a familiar silhouette. He instantly stopped texting and headed towards the other end of the corridor.

The Director of Education stopped talking to Principal Yu and looked in Lin Shuwen's direction quizzically.

Principal Yu also turned to look and saw Huo Yao standing in the corridor.

"Hi, Miss Huo."

Huo Yao was about to walk back to class when she heard Lin Shuwen's voice. She halted and looked sideways as he walked over. "Secretary Lin?"

Lin Shuwen had suppressed his usual politician's aura as he looked at Huo Yao courteously. He smiled and explained. "I came to discuss some work."

Considering his status, he did not have to come over and say hi. However, she was on friendly terms with Min Yu and had saved Fang Chen. Since they were in school and there were not a lot of people walking around, he did not pass up on the opportunity to get close to her.

Huo Yao saw the principal standing nearby and a knowing look swept across her face before she said politely, "Don't let me interrupt."

"Well, I am almost done anyway. Oh yes. I recall you are a senior, right?" Lin Shuwen was free now, so he continued chatting with her.

Huo Yao nodded without talking much.

Principal Yu and the others walked over as well. "Secretary Lin, do you know Huo Yao?"

Principal Yu's voice sounded surprised.

Lin Shuwen acknowledged softly. "It so happens that I do know her."

Principal Yu smiled and said, "She was the student I was telling you about who has done our city proud. She stands a high chance of becoming the top scorer at the national entrance exam."

The Director of Education raised his head in surprise and looked at Huo Yao.

He was here at the school with Lin Shuwen to discuss new department objectives that he had to report about at the end of the year.

If the national college entrance exam top scorer came from their city, it would help with their superior's evaluation of their work.

He Xiaoman finally caught up with them. She had already seen Lin Shuwen from a distance and hesitated before coming over as she smiled with poise. "Hi, Secretary Lin and Principal Yu."

He Xiaoman was unacquainted with the Director of Education. Since he seemed like a powerful official, He Xiaoman only nodded politely to him.
