Judging from the serious look on the Dean's face, Gu Chaoyan was sure that something had gone wrong. She had not spent much time with the Dean, but she knew him well. Most of the time, the man was cheerful and relaxed, he only got serious when something big happened.2

"What happened?" Gu Chaoyan asked.

The Dean looked around, moved his lips yet uttered no words. Instead, he said with a small whisper, "Just come with me and take a look!"

Then he turned to Li Yuanxiang. "Yuanxiang, do hasten with herb making, we need a lot of herbs these days."

Li Yuanxiang also sensed that something serious was going on, but she did not show any curiosity at what the Dean wanted Gu Chaoyan for, but put away the presents Gu Chaoyan gave to her, nodded and said, "I got it, Dean."

Assured, the Dean was about to leave with Gu Chaoyan.

Gu Chaoyan thought for a while, realizing that the Dean might not want to reveal this secret to other unrelated people, so she said to Sword One. "Sword One, can you clean up the room for me, whilst me and the Dean go to check out the situation?"

Sword One nodded.

Then Gu Chaoyan left with the Dean alone.

It was also a remote yard, which differed from Li Yuanxiang's. The yard was very close to the Dean's, so the Dean must be looking after the patient personally.

There were some guards standing at the door.

They opened the door for the Dean at the sight of him.

Xue Feihan, Huang Xuan as well as Xia Yinghan from the court were all there. When they saw Gu Chaoyan, each of them was wearing a different expression, some shocked, some disdainful.

Huang Xuan snorted before anyone else said a thing, "Dean, why are you bringing this young girl for? What does she know about saving people?"

Gu Chaoyan frowned slightly. She had no idea why this woman kept picking on her.

The Dean was displeased. "Now none of us have any clues, and we need to find a breakthrough. She saved the dying Young Duke, and I approve of her medical skills. If that is the case, let her check him out to see if she can see anything."

Huang Xuan was still pursing her lips.

Xia Yinghan could have saved the Young Duke if she had been present. If Xia Yinghan was present, this girl would not have gotten so lucky.

She did not trust her medical skills. What was more, her mother left her a great many prescriptions that helped her through. No one knew what she had in mind.

Huang Xuan looked unconvinced, but Gu Chaoyan had no interest in dealing with her, but turned to the man lying in bed. That man was still breathing, probably hanging on because of the herbs.

There was a very tiny wound on his body, and the wound was already healing.

Gu Chaoyan did not sense any smell of blood, which meant that he was not injured externally. Then it must be an injury from inside.

She looked downwards, only to see a large bruise upon his chest. And the bruise was in a shape similar to a hand-print.

Gu Chaoyan placed her hand upon the wound…

The Dean was a bit pleased as he saw how Gu Chaoyan was studying the patient. "Any idea?"
