Strength versus experience
The person he grabbed was also holding him. Or rather to say that before he could touch it— it had already grabbed his arm as if it were waiting for him to approach.1
Because of the thickness of the smoke, he could not identify who it was. But, 'Whatever. It doesn't matter who this person is. The important thing is that I immediately target the vital points that will weaken the opponent. I've been working on this for a long time, so it's easy for me to do that,' said Spike's colleague.
He tried to withdraw his arm but he noticed the other party was too strong. He was surprised at the unordinary strength of the person in front of him.
'Impossible,' Spike's colleague muttered in astonishment. Nevertheless, it looks like his enemy won't let him get away. "In that case, there's nothing I can do. It looks like you want to get hurt, huh!"
Spike heard the shout of his companion. But he wasn't bothered by it. He had great confidence in their strength. They were not beginners after all.
After that, they heard muffled sounds of thumps and groans.
Spike also rushed, but Ice and Instructor Goki felt his rush so they immediately confronted him.
From the Ice Wall made by Ice the two jumped and immediately intercepted in front of Spike. As a result, Spike suddenly stopped rushing.
"Impressive," Spike complimented them when he noticed that despite the obstruction of their vision, these two were still able to notice his movements.
If Spike had only used poison gas, his opponents would not have been able to move. However, that was not his plan. Anyway, he must put an end to whoever wants to attempt to hinder his mission.
Even though the two in front of him were both strong, Spike believed that their strength would still not be enough for what he had experienced in fighting.
"Eat your compliment. I will not let your plan succeed!" Goki rushed in as he shouted it.
He bolted towards Spike. His figure shot like a bullet train.
His two hands glowed as he attacked a series of blows. His attack was so quick that ordinary people would have a hard time seeing them.
However, against someone of Spike's caliber, who wasn't only a magician, but also a veteran fighter, his deadly blows failed to land his target. Goki's punches only hit the air.
Goki's eyebrows rose because of his series of failed attacks. He couldn't believe Spike's speed.
"Damn! I don't care if you're faster! Eat this!" He attacked again, but another explosive punch hit the air.
Goki clenched his jaw as he continued attacking. Yet, none of his attacks ever hit Spike.
Spike showed a mocking grin. Honestly, he didn't move that fast. He just knew how to evade without relying on speed alone.
"When a person reaches the peak of his ability, he develops an ability as if he could read the opponent's movements. So even with just a little movement of my body, it is easy for me to dodge every attack of my opponent," Spike lectured him.
"Tsk! This bast*rd really has the leeway to chat in the middle of the fight," Goki mumbled while furrowing.
Regardless, he needed to end him. So, he attacked again. But once again, with little movements, Spike was able to dodge them. Goki reinforced more mana on his right fist. It was now glowing even more. Then, from above his shoulder, Goki's punch came rushing like a fallen meteorite. As expected, Spike slightly jumped backward to avoid it.
Goki slightly squinted his eyes and a smile appeared on his face at that moment. It seemed like he already expected Spike would do that.
Goki's punch proceeded to the floor. The power of his punch was enough to burst the floor, sending splinters at the backing enemy.
Noticing it, Spike hastily covered his face. However, some splinters still managed to hit him. They pierced his skin.
"Bast*rd!" He grunted.
Aside from that, two Ice Spikes came flying at a speed like flying arrows. Spike retreated fast while dodging the Ice Spikes.
He confronted the last Ice Spike using his blades that seemed like claws. He managed to cut the Ice Spike into pieces.
"Fighting two at the same time is hard after all…" Spike mumbled as he stared at the two in front of him.
But his mumble was loud enough to be heard. "No one is asking you to fight alone. Call your friends if you want!" Goki said as he attacked once again.
Ice also followed up her attack with a valley of Ice Spikes. She could not attack using a strong technique that requires her to use massive amounts of mana because she hadn't fully recovered.
The only thing she could do was to assist Instructor Goki.
Spike didn't bother listening on Goki's words. This time he no longer restrained himself from attacking. After successfully dodging Goki's fists, he slashed him using his blade claws.
Goki was just lucky because he was able to jump backward. Only his clothes were hit by the sharp edges of the Blade Claws. His clothes were torn as if scratched by a ferocious bear.
Spike immediately moved away because the Ice Spikes were raining again towards him.
While trying to evade all their attacks, Spike's eyes quickly scanned around. He thought, "This is about the time that the smoke is going to disappear."
He wondered if his men succeeded. He sent secret signals to them, but none of them gave a response.
After a few seconds, everything gradually cleared up. The thick smoke slowly disappeared. Since the whole room was not totally closed, the smoke inside did not last long.
Spike frowned as he had not received any response from his comrades.
When the surroundings became clear, everyone was shocked at what they saw. Their actions stopped and all of them looked around them with gaping faces.
"What happened…?" Spike asked in surprise. His eyes widened and could not believe it. His two companions were sprawled on the floor and both unconscious.
