Villainous Hero
Back to the tallest building in the city after the explosion happened.
Half the room was destroyed and everyone there was gone except for three people.
"Eh? Where's everyone?"
"Don't worry, they are safe," Yman replied to her sister.
Yana sighed in relief as she glanced around.
"The giant bird?" She asked again.
"The bird is safe too," Rea was the one who replied this time.
"I see. That's a relief."
"Mhm," Yman nodded.
"Thank you so much, Rea, for saving everyone."
"There is no need to say thank you. We're just lucky that the spell had worked this time. But I know you'll make a way if it doesn't, right?"
"Well, I guess…"
Yman closed his eyes.
Before the explosion happened, Yman asked Rea to forcibly send everyone inside her dimensional world by using her newly learned ability which she called <Dimensional Lock
.
It was the technique she had been practicing inside the Training Pavilion when they were there. The name was just decided on a whim, though she was still unsure if to call it that from now on or if she would change it again later.
Although she hadn't fully mastered it, they were lucky somehow that she made it work this time without a problem.
Yman would prioritize saving the most important people to him if Rea's magic failed. Fortunately, her magic works.
"By the way, Crimson, should I recall them back now?"
"Yes, but not here, so please hold them for a couple of minutes. I need to settle something first."
"What do you mean, brother?"
"That guy… he's still alive," he slightly frowned.
"R-really?"
"How did that happen?"
Rea and Yana asked him.
"It seems it wasn't his real intention to self-destruct in the first place. It's more like he used the explosion to distract us and use the opportunity to escape."
"Why did he do that? Isn't their real goal to take over the city?"
"Yeah."
"Then why did he try to kill everyone here?"
"That I don't know. But maybe I can ask him directly," after saying it, he opened his eyes.
"Eh?"
…
A few minutes after the explosion, inside an alley, someone came out from a shadow.
"All of them thought they got me cornered, but they are far from reaching my level of wits. Hahaha! Those bastards! All of them are better off dead," he guffawed.
'I wonder if Principal Kim got my signal and escaped there before the explosion.'
'Ah, well. I'm sure that old man can make a way to escape the explosion.'
But to make sure the old man was okay, he took something from his Cyber Storage.
It was a piece of paper. But it wasn't an ordinary paper. Principal Kim's name was written on it. In case his name disappeared from the paper, it only means one thing. That the person who owns the name has died.
Seeing Principal Kim's name in it, Spike sighed in relief.
'Now that everyone in that building is dead. I'm going to proceed with our plan B. Before that, I need to replenish.'
He took two bottles of elixirs and replenished his mana and stamina.
Glug glug glug—aaaaaah!
'Damn! Who said those students here are easy opponents? They are insanely strong. Especially that summoner boy.'
Now, he was finally revitalized!
Spike continued walking, following the alleyway towards the exit of it. While he was walking, he suddenly stopped because of the unexpected question that came from out of nowhere!
"Eh? So where are you going?"
"Eh?!" Spike glanced around him. But he could not find anyone. Regardless, that voice sounded so familiar.
"If you're looking for me… I'm here above you."
"What?!"
When Spike looked above, he saw a person in black. His eyes grew wider when he saw him. The person was floating in the air. Perhaps he was using the new edition of a pair of <Enchanted Shoes
, the new invention of the Crescent Corporation.
Although the price was unprecedented, this school after all had many students from rich families. Perhaps this one in front of him was also from a rich family. Anyway, he looked familiar to him.
"You!" Spike exclaimed.
"Ah, do you know me?"
"You are that person. The missing person. I saw your face on posters everywhere in this city. If I am not mistaken, they called you the Mysterious Black Magician, am I right?"
'Of course, I am just bluffing. Who would not know this person? He is the Black Magician. The hero of this city. But, it's surprising to learn that he is actually real. It looks like Principal Kim was wrong this time. He said this guy is just a made-up hero in this city. However, it turns out he is real!' Spike thought. 'Now what to do? Tsk. This is bad. Wait. He seemed to be young. Hehe. His strength is still unknown, so I can't gauge his strength based on some gossip.'
'That name was actually a little embarrassing. But anyway, it isn't the right time to point that out,' Yman mumbled in his mind.
"I see, it seems you know about me," this was Yman's reply.
"Hehe. Mister Black Magician, do you want to join our group? We can rule this city if you like."
"Hmm… that sounds like an interesting offer."
"Exactly!"
'Come and join us. With your help, it's easy to persuade all the ordinary people here to follow our commands. Hehehe,' Spike thought inwardly.
"You can get all you want and easily become rich if you join us!" 2
Yman fell silent and pondered. "Hm, I actually need a large amount of money."
'After all, it's my ambition to become rich.'
"Then—!"
"Ah, sorry. On second thought, I think I'll decline your offer. I am already tied up to various jobs at the moment, so I can't handle more than I already have."
"Why don't you quit those jobs?"
"I can't... even if I want to."
"Why not?"
"Well, because of various reasons."
'Also, I already received an advance payment as Rea's bodyguard,' Yman secretly thought.
"If so, what's the reason for you coming here? Are you here to fight?"
Spike said in a cold voice. Based on this Black Magician's answer, Spike knew there was no room for negotiation.
Spike didn't know how the Black Magician found out his whereabouts, but that didn't matter anymore.
If he interfered with their plan, he could do nothing but put an end to him.
"I thought that was obvious. Well, truth be told, I initially didn't want to fight. But the circumstances were calling for it. There are people disturbing the place where my only family lives quietly. So I want to put an end to those people," the last line, he said in a cold voice.
"Heh~ so you really came here to fight. Now. Bring it on. Let's see how strong the famous Black Magician is in this city. Kuku," Spike chuckled.
He wasn't afraid of him even for a bit. The Black Magician was just a young man after all. With that alone, he could already surmise that his experience wasn't higher than his.
If there were people he didn't want to face in this city, those were the elders. However, they already trapped them, therefore there was no one in this city he was afraid to fight.
"Hehe."
Spike then summoned several <Earth Spikes
.
Without a warning, "Die! Brat!" Spike shouted. After saying that, the <Earth Spikes
shot rapidly at an unperceivable speed. It was followed by rapid noises of impacts.
Spike grinned. "Is that all you've got, cocky brat?! Hahaha!" Spike guffawed.
"Heh~"
Spike widened his eyes when he heard that scoffed. "I-Impossible!" He gruntled.
"Don't worry, your attack is strong enough. But compared to that demon, it was still far weaker."
"What are you saying?!"
"Hehe!"
Spike's face twitched. After the dust from the explosion was cleared, he saw the Black Magician in his original position, unharmed.
"No way!", "Damn you! Take this!" Spike summoned more <Earth Spikes
and sent them flying towards the Black Magician.
However, the result was still the same. He could not believe it.
"What the hell! How did you manage to evade them?!" He screamed.
"Sorry, but I didn't evade. Look, that kind of attack which is based on mana is useless against me."
'Well, I am called Crimson Canceler for that reason,' Yman muttered inwardly.
"What did you say? You're immune to mana-based attacks? Who are you fooling with?!"
"This sounds stupid," Yman mumbled as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Anyway, no matter how many times you tried to hit me with that same attack, the outcome will be the same," he warned him.
"Heh! Then, take this!"
"Spike Pillar!"
A gigantic Earth Spike materialized in midair right in front of Spike. After he fired it, the Spike flew and reached the Black Magician. However, Spike was dumbfounded at the result.
The Spike Pillar turned to light particles.
"H-He's telling the truth!" he exclaimed with wide eyes.
"I told you."
"Grrr! Damn brat!" Spike summoned a pair of Claw Knuckles. "In that case, I will kill you with this."
"Sorry, but that won't happen."
*Flick!*
After a clicking sound, black creatures materialized around Spike. Their total number was uncertain.
Spike looked around him with a pale face.
"How the hell does a person deemed as a hero have villainous power?" Spike mumbled.
