"How dare she do this without my permission?!" Doctor Lou raged, pulling on his beard.

Xiao Ying scoffed, "I doubt you asked for her permission when you forced her ow-"

"That's different!  This could kill you? Have you completely lost your mind? I told her fix this!" Doctor Lou interjected, glaring at her.

"I already told you, she fixed it! Tung Mei's passed on - Great aunt created this dream life thing for her where she lived to 90, oddly enough she actually married my Yong ge, it was very weird to watch, it -" She realized she was getting sidetracked and retraced, "Either way, this body is just like Xing jie's, an empty LIVING shell. Perfectly safe, great aunt said so~" When Doctor Lou's glare intensified, she indignantly added, "Great aunt also said not to touch me. I am now under her protection, so is Yong ge! She said if you interfere with us then she will also start to pay more attention to things she should!"

Doctor Lou was silent for a moment and then quietly asked, "What did you tell her?" 

"I didn't tell her anything!" Xiao Ying quickly defended, swallowing a gulp. When her father being quiet in his grievance was a lot scarier than when he was hopping mad, "Actually...she did ask me what was going on with me and Yong ge..." She admitted, "I told her that you had initially arranged it up so we can test out a life together, you know, to see if we're compatible and whatnot. Then you changed your mind and tried to dupe me -"

"What? It's true, we had a deal!" She defensively said when Doctor Lou gave her a look, "After Xing jie arrived, you were supposed to give me my own body me to marry Yong ge! Then you tried to dupe me, resulting in this mess, so really...everything that happened is really your fault. I even almost died! You really should reflect on your actions..." She scolded.

A low prolonged growl emanated through the room as Doctor Lou considered which level of hell to toss this stubborn daughter of his into. She was clearly too spoiled, too stubborn, too idiotic! 

Seeing that Doctor Lou was back to using silly anger tactics, Xiao Ying bounced over and crouched to him with a smile, "Dad, since it's already like this. You don't need to worry anymore, I'm perfectly fine now." She cleared her throat and coyly said, "I didn't want to say this... It's a bit embarrassing but...Yong ge finally confessed his feelings for me tonight!" She said and immediately broke into giddy laughter, covering her reddened face. 

Doctor Lou scoffed, "Tch...Tomorrow he'll probably wake up and say he was drunk -"

"He wasn't drunk! I checked this time." Xiao Ying said with a disgruntled pout, "Besides, we are engaged to be married~" She said, returning to her giddy laughter mode. 

"Tch, that's only because that nosy Xiao Kai in the palace forced him into it-"

"I know right, it seems Xing Jie's marriage to him was worth it after all!" Xiao Ying said with a laugh, there was nothing Doctor Lou was going to dull her mood, "Besides, my Yong ge isn't someone that can be forced into something he doesn't want~" She smugly informed. 

Doctor Lou stared at this stranger's beaming face  which happened to be harbouring his daughter and could not help saying, "You're not an idiot."

"I don't care." Xiao Ying proudly responded with a smug smile. 

Doctor Lou finally sighed and rose to his feet, "I don't know what you see in that useless brat but... do whatever you want!" He said, still obviously salty. He was about to leave when Xiao Ying grabbed his arm. 

"Have you changed your mind?" Doctor Lou eagerly asked. 

"No." Xiao Ying responded, narrowing her eyes at him, "I've told you to stop badmouthing my Yong ge - but it's okay for today," She quickly said when Doctor Lou glared at her, "Please, my powers~" She sweetly said with a wide smile. 

"Powers?" Doctor Lou asked with a raised eyebrow. 

"En. Great aunt said you had my body locked somewhere so getting them back would have been a hassle so she said to ask you when you come back, it's easier." She explained, still beaming at him.

Doctor Lou knit his brows and stroked his long beard, "Powers..."

"En. Great aunt told me how -"

"Oh, I know how~" Doctor Lou informed with a smile that instantly made Xiao Ying wary, "That's good then... so it'll be simple. Can I have it? Where is it?" She said, putting her hand into his sleeves, looking for what could possibly be holding her body. 

Doctor Lou reached into his collar and raised crystal, "You mean this?"

"Oh!" Xiao Ying went as she reached for it, only for it to disappear right before her eyes. She blinked at Doctor Lou, "Dad!"

"What was it that you told your "great aunt"?" Doctor Lou rhythmically said, stroking his beard and closing his eyes, trying to jog his memory, "Ahhh, you wanted to experience - no, test out your love life, share the pains and trials, tribulations, pain, everything in this life, right?"

Xiao Ying blinked at him, "That's not what I said."

"Well, that's what I heard." Doctor Lou said, smugly facing forward, "Since you are an "adult" now and have exercised your right to make decisions for yourself on things that are important...to you. I, as the doting parent, have no choice but to respect said decisions no matter how misguided or foolish they may turn out to be. As such, I respect your decision to live this mortal life."

Xiao Ying frowned, "But -"

"Mortals do not have powers. Therefore, you do not have powers... in this mortal life." Doctor Lou patiently spelled out with a smile, "If you want your powers, you can return to your body." He added and stepped to leave, only to be grabbed again.

"But without my powers, I can't leave this body as I like." Xiao Ying explained the pitfall to his logic.

"Is that so?" Doctor Lou asked with an exaggerated surprised expression which unfortunately escaped the agitated girl who fervently responded, "Yes! The only way I can get out is to die! Like actually die and then this body will be useless after!"

"Ohhhhh...Well, that is most unfortunate." Was Doctor Lou's disinterested response. 

"Father!... Don't be like this. What if something happens? If I can't protect myself, won't you be worried? I don't even have the bracelet anymore, what if I get lost?!" Xiao Ying lamented trying to appeal to his paranoid side. 

"Don't worry, once you exit this body, you'll automatically return to your body. Also, you're not a child anymore so you won't get lost easily. But if you do, Dad will be sure to find you eventually~" Doctor Lou said, lovingly patting her hands before cruelly brushing them off his arm. 

Xiao Ying was quick to cling on again though, she learned from the best, "Dad!" 

Or perhaps it was just that Doctor Lou was enjoying this unexpected life lesson he was dishing out a bit too much to leave so soon. He smilingly pat her hands again and dotingly said, "Ying Ying, you see in life there is this thing called opportunity cost. When you choose one thing, you lose another...For example, I chose to look after you and ended up losing Shan Shan -"

"He's gone?" Xiao Ying asked in surprise, "Well, who cares, don't know what he was doing here anyway." She dismissively said, tightening her hold. 

Doctor Lou's lips slightly twitched but he maintained his smile and continued, "My point is since you choose your "Yong ge", you lose your powers... Enjoy the next fifty years or however many you can last without your powers. Take it from me, you don't want to stay too long, you will not enjoy going grey~" And with that, he brushed her hands off and disappeared before she could cling on again. 

"Dad! Are you seriously leaving me like this?! Dadddd!" Xiao Ying screamed at the ceiling in disbelief and horror. 

"Young miss, are you okay?!" The maids asked as they rushed into the room.

"I'm fine." Xiao Ying dismissively said with a pout as she went to sit down, still utter disbelief that her father had just done that to her, "Ow!" She exclaimed when the teacup she had grabbed broke in her crushing hold and sliced her palm. The maids obviously panicked and quickly ran to tend to her wounds while Xiao Ying just sat there staring at the bleeding wound in her palm.

{....This is going to suck, this is really going to suck...I can't believe this old man is really going to be this petty! What will he gain from this?!...}

"He'll change his mind..." She muttered to herself and nodded in agreement. Doctor Lou has always been extremely paranoid about her being hurt, which was probably his problem with Lei Yong. Even though she was in a different body, she was still his daughter. 

He will definitely change his mind.

But petty is as petty does, and petty is unrelenting... Thus, as long as she did not change her mind, his mind will not be moved either. These young ones think they're the only ones that can be stubborn, he'll show them. He'll show them all!
