Elder Su nodded in understanding. He did not have any intention to pressurize Qin Yan.2

He looked at Qin Yan and found her pleasing to the eyes, so he explained to her, "I will first tell you about myself. I was initially a doctor at the People's Hospital where Elder Tang works. I was the chief physician there. But later I developed interest in Chinese medicine and started doing research on that."

"Later I started working in Chinese medicine hospital and after a few years I finally opened my own. So you can say that I have knowledge of both western and Chinese medicine."

He continued, "A couple of months earlier, I suffered one of my most important family member's loss so I decided to retire in this teahouse. But then Elder Tang showed me the video of you treating that woman."

Qin Yan's eyes turned red at what she heard from Elder Su. She had died a couple of months ago. She felt extremely warm being called as family by Elder Su. 

Normally, he was good to her but too strict. His personality didn't allow him to utter sweet nothings to anybody. 

But Qin Yan knew that Elder Su was like a coconut, hard from outside but soft from inside.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Elder Su, "After watching the video, I was surprised to see a young girl was using accupuncture needles to save a woman. Moreover, you did it very professionally. The needles you put on were on point and you knew what you were doing. I was fascinated to see someone as young as you to be so well versed in Chinese medicine. Not only that, but you also explained the condition of the woman to the paramedic very well."

Elder Su sighed, "This made me come back to the ground of Chinese medicine. I told Elder Tang to bring you here to ask if you have any intention of practicing medicine in future."

Qin Yan immediately replied affirmatively.

Elder Su smiled, "Then want to join me so that you can be useful to this world?"

Qin Yan was stunned when she heard his words. She pursed her lips and said after a moment, "Of course, I would love to join you but…"

"You're worried about your doctor's degree right? You don't have any certificate and that's why you're not sure about this. right?" Elder Su asked.

Qin Yan nodded immediately. This was the only thing she was worried all along.

Elder Su then told her, "People's hospital where Elder Tang works has a department of Chinese medicine which has been opened recently."

"Since you have so much knowledge in Chinese medicine, I can arrange a special test for you which will check your knowledge about Chinese medicine. You also need some knowledge of western medicines as well."

" I can give you books for that. You can read them and when you think you're ready, we can arrange the test for you."

Qin Yan's mouth opened in daze. She was unable to process her thoughts.

Was that so easy? She already had the knowledge of both western and chinese medicine. Not only that she was proficient in surgery as well. The test was not at all difficult for her.

She answered Elder Su, "I am okay with your arrangement."

Elder Su smiled, "Since you are in high school, you would not get any medical certificate to treat the patients but if you pass the test, I will acknowledge you as my disciple. I will then take you to treat some special cases which I get. Is that okay with you?"

Qin Yan's eyes shone with a bright light. She could not believe that she had the chance to acknowledge her master one more time. 

She nodded frantically with tears in her eyes, "Thank you, Elder Su. Thank you very much. I will perform my best in the test."

Elder Su glanced at the young lady and felt an unknown attachment to her. He smiled and said, "Okay, I will let Elder Tang arrange your test. Do your best."

Elder Tang asked Qin Yan when she would be ready for the test. After some discussion, the test was fixed on the weekend.

After she met the little bun, Qin Yan would have daily phone calls with him.

She had a strange connection with the little guy and just knowing that he is safe and sound would calm her heart. She would feel happy after talking to him. 

The days passed by like this and soon the weekend arrived.

Qin Yan was sitting inside the Elder Tang's office in the People's hospital. She looked around as she felt a little awkward sitting inside the huge office alone.

Today was the day of her test. Although she was confident in her skills, when thinking that this test would determine whether her master would acknowledge her or not, she felt inexplicably nervous.

"Miss Qin, I apologize for being late," The door of the office opened and Elder Tang who was dressed in a formal suit looked at her with a subtle smile. Even at this age, he managed himself very well and was in a good condition.

Qin Yan smiled seeing that Elder Tang had finally arrived. She smiled and greeted him politely.

Elder Tang walked to his chair, opposite to Qin Yan, and asked her to take a seat.

After settling down, he looked at her and asked, "Miss Qin, are you ready for the test?"

Qin Yan pursed her lips and nodded. She suddenly started to feel extremely nervous and put her hands on the table and clasped them tensely.

Elder Tang smiled at her and said, "Okay then, I will give you a brief of the Patient's condition. The patient is a 10 year old child who had hit his head when he was a few months old which resulted in the injury to his brain meridians."

"If he was brought over when he was first injured, he would basically be fine after taking a few sets of medicine. But the patient's parents were poor and could not afford the treatment fees, so the child was left in the fray."
