Peaceful Retreat

After school, Qin Yan returned back to the hotel she was currently staying in. She then texted Yun Jian asking if the latter's condominium was ready to move in.2

Receiving Yun Jian's affirmative reply, Qin Yan packed her belongings carefully before double checking the room for any things that she could have left.

Then she sat on the sofa and picked up her cell phone that was placed on the small round table in front of her before opening a cab application.

She entered the destination address and booked a cab successfully. She then placed the cell phone in her pant pocket. The cab would be on her current location in ten minutes as per the application.

After ensuring that everything was packed, Qin Yan dragged her suitcase to the hotel reception. She paid the balance amount of her meals and successfully checked out of the hotel after filling the feedback form provided by the hotel to the customer.

Just as she completed her check out process, she received a call from the cab driver. She picked up the call and told the driver that she would be out in a minute.

Stepping out of the hotel premises, she saw a cab parked nearby. After confirming it's license plate number, she sat in the cab as her ride began.

In about half an hour, Qin Yan reached her destination address. She paid the cab fare and thanked the driver before dragging her luggage to the gate of the premises.

As she reached the gate of the complex, a beautiful board with the words "Peaceful Retreat" came into her view.

Beside the main entrance, a booth was set up. Three male guards along with a female guard were busy on their duties.

Anybody who was not a resident of the society would be stopped from going inside. He would then be asked the condominium number and the building number which he wanted to visit.

Another guard would then call to the owner of the condo and ask if the person concerned should be allowed to go in or not.

Once the guards received the confirmation from the other side, they would let the person in.

The security of the society was very good since it was a high end place with many influential people residing in it.

Nobody would be allowed to enter without permission.

While Qin Yan was observing the society, she saw Yun Jian walking towards her. Unlike yesterday when she was in casual clothes, Yun Jian was donned in a police uniform today.

She had a tall and statue posture with a beautiful face. The stars on her uniform indicated her position which was none other than second behind the police commissioner.

Yun Jian was the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the capital city.

As she walked towards Qin Yan, the cold expression on her face faded and it was replaced by a warm smile. She hugged Qin Yan lovingly.

Till now, Yun Jian had come to terms that Qin Yan was none other than her best friend Mo Ran. Previously when she saw Qin Yan, she felt somewhat awkward. After all, she was not familiar with the person.

But when she realised that the soul inside the body was her best friend, Yun Jian quickly adjusted to this fact.

"Yan Yan, you are here," Yun Jian said excitedly.

The day before, both of them had decided that since Mo Ran was now in another body, Yun Jian would refer to her with her current name. This was to prevent people from suspecting anything.

"Yes, what sould we do now?" Qin Yan hugged Yun Jian back and asked.

"Come, first let me introduce you to the guards so that they would not stop you everytime," Yun Jian held Qin Yan's hand and walked towards the guards' booth enthusiastically.

She then made the guards and Qin Yan get familiar with each other. She informed them that Qin Yan was her friend and will stay in her condominium for few months.

Also anybody who comes to the society with the intention of visiting her place, would require permission from Qin Yan to get in.

Seeing that Qin Yan was not haughty and arrogant despite being beautiful, the guards had a favourable impression of her.

They repeatedly ensured Yun Jian that Qin Yan's safety would not be compromised and she would be treated as the house owner from now onwards.

When Yun Jian felt satisfied, she took Qin Yan to the administrative building of the society.

The residents of Peaceful Retreat were not allowed to rent their condominiums to people. This was to prevent any nasty disagreements between the owners and the tenants and also for ensuring the safety of other owners.

So, if one had any guest staying at their place for more than 15 days, the said person was required to report this to the administrative office of the premises.

Qin Yan thus along with Yun Jian reported to the administrative office before heading towards the eighteenth floor which was the topmost floor of the D wing of the premises.

Qin Yan also saw that the whole premises were covered with CCTV cameras. Every wing entrance was also equipped with a security guard. She was quite satisfied with this arrangement as nobody would be able to bother her here.

As they climbed up the elevator and reached the topmost floor, Qin Yan realised that there were only two condominiums on the top level.

Seeing Qin Yan's curiosity, Yun Jian explained to her, "This condominium 1802 is mine. I specially chose this floor as only two condos were present on this floor. You know, I like privacy and isolated places."

Qin Yan nodded and asked, "Do you know who lives opposite us?"

Yun Jian shaked her head, "No I haven't seen the other party till now. I don't come to S city often so my stay is also limited. But now that you are staying here, maybe you would meet them."

Qin Yan nodded indifferently. She did not care who was her neighbour as long as they don't interfere in her matters and cause her any discomfort.

Yun Jian added, "Don't worry. The topmost floors of every wing are the costliest. So I don't think you will encounter any nasty person here."

Qin Yan and Yun Jian reached the door of the condominium and Yun Jian pressed the password lock to open the door. Then she told the password to Qin Yan so that she does not encounter any inconvenience.

She also gave a key to the door to Qin Yan, just in case anything goes wrong with the password lock.

Qin Yan looked at her best friend and smiled. She had not changed a bit. She was still so careful about each and every thing. She didn't forget to tell even minute details to Qin Yan so that her friend would not face any problems.

Qin Yan's heart warmed. Sometimes these little things showed how much the other person cares about you. If he or she cares about even small things so that you won't face any problems, they are worth of your attention and love.

Qin Yan had not cherished and trusted the wrong person. Yun Jian was worthy of her friendship.

Qin Yan let go of the luggage in her hand and hugged Yun Jian tightly, "Jian Jian, thank you so much. Thank you for caring so much about me. I missed you a lot."

Yun Jian smiled. She knew that her best friend was always like this. She didn't want anything too extravagant to be happy, she would be grateful to anyone even for a little help provided to her.

Maybe this characteristic of Qin Yan was because of their lives. Mo Ran was an orphan and had struggled for the tinest things that any other child could get easily.

So she always became happy with little things. She never expected anything too special from anyone as she was afraid of being disappointed.

Even if somebody would bring a glass of water to her while she was sick, she would be extremely grateful towards that person.

"Okay okay. Why are you thanking me? Don't you know the rule of friendship? No sorry, no thank you. Understand?" Yun Jian berated Qin Yan lovingly.

Qin Yan smiled and let go of Yun Jian. She then looked at the place which would be her abode for the next few months.

The condo was clean and tidy. The walls were painted with cool colours along with the furniture. They were now standing in the living room which consisted of sofa, a centre table and a television.

One of the walls was made like a shelf to display things or any showpieces if one wants to. It was a three bedroom house with the rooms on the inner side.

The living room was attached to the kitchen and a dining room.

Yun Jian had converted the rooms according to her convenience. One room was the master bedroom, another was converted to a study room while the final one was the guest room.
