Out of consideration for Xu Lei who only had one free hand, Mother Xu had opened the lunchbox for her, so sometimes being considerate had its own downfall.

The aroma of the food was delectable as they slid down Xu Dong's clothes. Furthermore, the lunchbox must be of high quality because it had such good heat insulation. Bits and pieces of food dropped from his head and hot soup blanched his skin. Soon a patch of redness surfaced around his neck.

"Dong'er!" Mother Xu gasped in shock. She was about to rush to her son but Father Xu held her back.

Xu Dong stood there quietly and said calmly, "I'm fine."

He stood there not moving. He didn't complain, get angry or talk back. He bore the anger that technically shouldn't be directed at him with the intention of making peace.

Xu Lei looked at her mother with a cold smile on her face. "What's wrong? Feeling pained for your precious son? That barely made up for what he has done to me!" Then she turned to Xu Dong, "Well, what do you have to say now? I still haven't heard an apology."

Her tone was full of mockery. Taking in her mother's nervousness and her father's concern, Xu Lei had never felt so unloved. At most, Xu Dong would suffer a little burn but her life was ruined. Her parents never showed such worry when they visited her earlier, but a little burn on their precious son and it was like their worlds were burning. The preferential treatment was enraging.

Mother Xu felt her legs go weak. If not for Father Xu's support, she would have collapsed to the ground.

Both of them were her children. As parents, they were stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The atmosphere in the ward dropped to freezing point. The heavy atmosphere was suffocating.

Xu Dong was the first to speak, breaking the awkwardness, "I'll have to go wash myself. Lei Lei, please have a good rest."

Then he strode out from the room. There was nothing he could do in that situation. Only by leaving could he make things less difficult for his parents.

Xu Dong splashed his face with cold water but it did nothing to wash away the oil stains. Xu Dong took a few deep breaths before returning to the ward.

Father Xu and Mother Xu were waiting for him at the door.

Seeing her son's disheveled appearance, Mother Xu was at a loss for words, she really did not know what to say.

Xu Dong was about to return to Xu Lei's ward, when Father Xu blocked his way, "Do you think you've not done enough damage? Let Lei Lei have some peace. Wait here, we'll come get you when she has calmed down."

"Okay, I will wait outside. This is better for sister anyway." Xu Dong said understandingly.

Mother Xu and Father Xu returned to the ward without Xu Dong and the atmosphere seemed to have lightened up. Father Xu even told some jokes. The atmosphere in the ward was completely different from before.

Although Xu Lei was still replying only half-heartedly, at least she was no longer as prickly as before. She even revealed a smile once or twice on her face.

Xu Dong turning himself in was a big blow to his parents. They were dumbfounded at the situation. Both their children's lives were over.

Even Xu Lei never expected that Xu Dong would turn himself in. But this action os his proved his crime. If he did not do it, why would he turn himself in?
