2Xu Dong was speechless. Every word and statement of Qin Yan was irrefutable.

Anyway since he had decided to leave the company, he had no right to say anything. He had put forward his point on account of his friends and former artists but rest could be left for them to decide.

He nodded at Qin Yan, "Miss is right. It was my bad to question you. I will leave now. Thank you and goodbye."

Qin Yan looked at Xu Dong and reminded him once again, "Mr. Xu, my offer is still valid. You can take your time to decide and then let me know."

Xu Dong nodded without any expectations and left the conference hall.

Qin Yan then reminded the artists sitting in front of her, "You people can also consider my offer and let me know about it by next week."

She then stood up and left decisively. Ji Lingchen and others sat in the conference room in silence.

As Qin Yan strode out of the conference room, she felt a pain in her abdomen. Her face turned pale and she rushed into the washroom. This body suffered from serious period cramps. It was good that Qin Yan was carrying sanitary napkins with her otherwise she would definitely be embarrassed.

She tidied her appearance and came out of the washroom. Her face was covered in cold sweat. She reached the Peaceful Retreat with a lot of effort. Just as she stepped out of the elevator, she could no longer hold herself. She stepped out of the elevator and fainted.

Qin Yan moved her fingers and felt some pain on her body. She put her hand on her eyes uncomfortably and blocked the bright light in front of her eyes.

The house was quiet without the sound of the TV, and there was a strange atmosphere in the air.

She opened her eyes and felt pain all over her body as if she had been run over by a car.

When she regained her senses, she realised that this was Xi Ting's place. Sitting down for a while, then she rose to her feet and walked around in the house.

She walked to the tea machine and boiled herself a pot of water. Then she sat down and drank it.

Xi Ting saw Qin Yan was sitting barefoot with a cup of hot water in her hand when he opened the door.

He frowned, well, you are good at looking for something.

"You're finally awake." He came over with a bowl in his hand.

Is it instant noodles inside the bowl?

She drank another cup of hot water and stared at the man who was coming in. She didn't feel strange about it, perhaps they were too familiar with each other.

Both in the previous life and this life.

Xi Ting walked over and put the bowl in front of her, "Drink it."

Qin Yan lowered her head, she was hungry and her stomach kept rumbling when she saw the food inside the bowl. It wasn't instant noodles but brown sugar water, good for dealing with menstrual cramps.

She looked at Xi Ting in shock. 'How did he know this!' she wondered.

"I am not that clueless," Xi Ting replied to her confused and shocked face.

Qin Yan understood what he was trying to say. She then picked up the bowl and drank it slowly.

She didn't know whether she was hungry or because the drink was comforting, she felt that this was the best drink that she ever had. Her stomach felt warm and a warm current went through all her body.

Xi Ting was standing beside, looking at her while she was drinking.

She finished the drink very soon but she was hungry. She pursed her lips and she was embarrassed to ask for something else.

Xi Ting took the bowl from her hand and went out again. He came over after a while and put the bowl in front of Qin Yan.

This time it wasn't brown sugar water but her favourite—minced pork congee with century egg.

"Thank you." Qin Yan set her phone down and took the bowl with both hands and dug in the congee. She ate in a ladylike manner, usually, she didn't eat much in the evening. However, today was an exception. She ate an extra bowl because she was so hungry and it was delicious.

She ate slowly without a single halt.

Xi Ting pulled a chair and sat down, staring at her without blinking. This was another similarity. Mo Ran loved the minced pork congee and ate just like how Qin Yan was eating relishing everything.

"Are you okay?" Xi Ting asked.

Qin Yan nodded without looking at him, her eyes still on the congee.

"You may ask for my help if you get into trouble in the future." After a moment's silence, Xi Ting went on.

Qin Yan did not feel happy but she felt a twinge at the heart. She ate a mouthful of congee and lowered her head.

"How long can you protect me?" One day or two days? One time or twice? After all he was the young master of Xi family. He had so much to focus on. In her previous life, she didn't know his identity and thus felt more closer to him. But after her transmigration, other than the times because of the little bun in which she felt closer to him, her heart had a barrier.

Xi Ting suddenly reached out and touched the top of her head. "As long as I'm here."

"Is this a promise?" Qin Yan tilted her head to one side, asking him seriously. The man's words could not be relied upon, the more they sounded beautiful, the more they lied.

A man's promise was just for fun.

But the man seemed like an exception. He was not like other guys, who spouted sheer nonsense. He was Xi Ting, who would keep his promise, he was always methodical in his work, but he was definitely true.

"Yes." Xi Ting moved his big hand but he stood still.

Qin Yan stirred the congee with her spoon, then lifted it to her mouth.

"Okay."

She picked up the bowl and finished the congee, then she headed to the kitchen and washed the bowl. After washing the bowl, she came out of the kitchen when Xi Ting blocked her path, "You can stay here if you want to." He offered Qin Yan.

He wanted to spend some time with her. He didn't know why but he was attracted to her. It was mostly because she was so similar to Mo Ran that he felt that his first love was with him.

"No need, I will leave," Qin Yan tried to walk past Xi Ting but he blocked her again.

"You are not well, I insist you to stay," he suggested again.

Qin Yan's eyes turned red. When was the last time that someone cared for her!

"Young master Xi…" She sniffed and she felt so hurt.

"What's the matter?" Xi Ting asked with a hint of concern on his cold face.

Qin Yan reached out her arms and hugged Xi Ting's waist. As if in the previous life, she leaned on his arms and blocked him from all of the pain and danger. She gave her life to repay his favour.

Xi Ting's body froze. An unknown woman was hugging him but he did not feel any repulsion towards her. He did not push her away, he caressed her hair gently like comforting a young girl.

"Go and take a nap." Xi Ting touched the top of her head. He didn't know why he had such great patience as if he had known her for a long time. Did they had any connection previously?

"I don't want to sleep." Qin Yan shook her head and hugged him tightly. She liked the smell of his body, without the smell of cigarettes and the stink of sweat. He gave off the faint scent like the fragrance of cedar which made her feel secure and safe.

As he said, he would protect her, they had agreed about it and he couldn't back out.

Xi Ting stood straight and let her hugged him. The woman in his arms had not moved for a while, and he could hear her even breathing. She had fallen asleep.

He sighed and carried the woman. She was as light as a feather. Did she rarely eat a meal or that she focussed on dieting?

He set her down on the bed and tucked her in the blanket, but he touched her body inadvertently. He quickly moved his fingers and breathed rapidly, and he even felt a bit thirsty.

He stood up and poured a glass of cold water. He leaned back and sipped on it till there was none left. Only then, the things in his vision slowly subsided and disappeared.

He silently let out some turbid gas from his chest before making a call, "Help me find out something."
