Foodie

Xi Yaohua raised his right hand, trembling.

He saw that on the inside of his four fingers were purplish-red marks. His flesh had been cut open and it was a horrendous sight.

It was all from Qin Yan's fingernails.

He'd felt incomparable pain just now but had not expected to see such a shocking sight when he finally saw the state of his hand.

The immense pain from before was not as terrifying as the state of his hand!

As for his middle finger, it was drooping down weakly, and it would not work correctly. He could not raise it even when he tried.

He did not know if it was broken, but it was so painful that Xi Yaohua rolled his eyes.

Xi Yaohua used his left hand to hold the painful middle finger of his right hand, but it was so painful that he groaned in pain when he touched it.

He looked at it. It seemed that his middle finger had been broken by Qin Yan.

Moreover, there was also a red mark on it, which had started to bleed.

Thank goodness Qin Yan did not keep her nails long. If she had, would his hand have survived?

Qin Yan, on the other hand, was extremely regretful. If she had known this was going to happen, she would have grown her nails a lot longer.

"Brother Hua!" Qin Yan's shout was filled with concern as she ran toward him..

Xi Yaohua's heart trembled when he heard Qin Yan's "Brother Hua".

Previously, Qin Yan's "Brother Hua" had almost handicapped his right hand. Also her expression was so scary.

Now, Xi Yaohua had developed a trauma from Qin Yan's greeting.

When Qin Yan called him like that, he started shivering and felt afraid.

He saw Qin Yan coming toward him and Xi Yaohua quickly shouted, "Don't come over here!"

Qin Yan was upset. "Brother Hua, Let me have a look."

Xi Yaohua really wanted to say no need, don't come over. He was really afraid of this mad person. Her expressions changed like anything. He wondered if she was a demon.

However, he was not able to say that on time.

Qin Yan had already come over.

However, it seemed that due to her panic, she did not notice what was under her feet.

At this time, Qin Yan aimed for a stone and stepped on it. AIYA!

Qin Yan tripped on the stone, staggered, and flew forward.

"Brother Hua!" Qin Yan shouted in shock.

Xi Yaohua saw with wide eyes that Qin Yan was flying toward him.

He immediately dodged to the side.

However, his slow speed was no match for Qin Yan.

Qin Yan was very sad to see that Xi Yaohua had dodged to the side.

Didn't he say that he had treated her well since they were young?

In the end, he couldn't catch her now and would rather see her fall?

Qin Yan sneered to herself and changed her direction halfway.

She staggered.

She stepped forward to balance herself.

In the end, her right foot stepped exactly on Xi Yaohua's knee.

"Ahhh!" Xi Yaohua's howl was even more desolate than before.

After Qin Yan landed on his knee, she then put all her weight onto her right foot and stepped with force.

Then she quickly retracted her foot.

"Brother Hua, are you all right?" Qin Yan looked at Xi Yaohua with worry.

"I…" Xi Yaohua was unable to even speak due to the intense pain.

"Don't worry, brother Hua, I will call an ambulance for you right away. I hope you won't bother me anymore! Bye bye!" Qin Yan walked away smiling proudly leaving the injured Xi Yaohua on the ground.

Xi Yaohua was so frightened by Qin Yan's schizophrenic behaviour that he fainted. After a while, he was carried away by the ambulance.

Qin Yan left the school on foot as always. She was very happy and content to teach Xi Yaohua, the scum, a lesson.

She had decided to treat herself today. So, she went to eat the heavenly street food. S city was known as the capital of gourmet food. The famous cuisines included Pan-Fried Bun Stuffed with Pork(Shengjiaobao), Chinese steamed buns(Xiaolongbao), Pot stickers(Guo tie) and Spareribs with Rice Cake etc. which were scattered in every street or corner of S city.

Cheng huang miao Old Street was one of the most famous snack streets which was regarded as the kingdom of snacks in S city with all kinds of flavored gourmet foods, nearby the famous Yuyuan Garden. It was said that if you do not go to Chenghuangmiao Street while you visit the city, you can not say you've been to S city.

There she went to a street shop and had baozi that is steamed stuffed buns which were a street vendor staple across China. Light and fluffy, and most often eaten at breakfast, baozi were cheap, delicious and most importantly, easy to eat on the go. Fillings varied, and might be savoury or sweet, meat or vegetarian. Qin Yan opted for barbeque pork and buns filled with sweet red bean paste.

Then, to sweeten her mouth, Qin Yan went to a street shop selling Jianbing that is fried pancakes. The smoke from the open-air hot plate mingling with the mist, jianbing was one of the most popular snacks in China – and had been for thousands of years. Typically, a thin dough is spread across the grill and fried to a crisp, with an egg cracked on top, sprinkled with smatterings of coriander, spring onions and soybean paste. The crepe is then rolled around a crispy fried wonton – or in the case of jianbing guozi (originally from Tianjin province), around a youtiao (deep-fried dough stick). If one preferred a sugar fix after a meal, jianbing was a very good option.

After the meal, Qin Yan rubbed her slightly bulging tummy in satisfaction. Today was a great day for her. She beat up the scum and then had her fill along with satisfying her taste buds.

She returned to her condominium in the Peaceful Retreat happily.

As she stepped out of the elevator, Qin Yan skipped towards her condominium humming a song. As soon as she reached the door and was about to open it, she realised that the door was already open.

'Who is here! Did someone break into my house! How is this possible! Is it someone from Qin family? Did they find out that I live here? Or is it someone from Hongxing Gang or Skylark Entertainment? Did they find out my identity?' All sorts of thoughts came into Qin Yan's mind. But remembering the security of Peaceful Retreat, she knew that her thoughts were worthless.

She carefully stepped into her house when she saw a person in police uniform sitting leisurely on the couch watching television. It seemed that she was waiting for her to return.

"Jian Jian!" Qin Yan greeted happily.

"Yan Yan!" Yun Jian saw Qin Yan coming in and she immediately stepped onto the floor and skipped towards Qin Yan to give her a hug.

The two friends hugged each other and then Yun Jian sat on the couch. Qin Yan stood opposite to Yun Jian.

"What happened? Why didn't you tell me that you were coming to S city?" Qin Yan asked indignantly.

"Oh Yan Yan, why are you being so upset? I mainly came here because of you. Didn't you ask me to find information about your death? I have some clues so I thought to give it to you in person. Yet you are being so unreasonable questioning me as soon as you see me," Yun Jian pouted her lips.

These two people acted like this only in front of each other. If someone else were to see their behaviour, they would doubt their eyes. Yun Jian was known as the merciless police officer of Beijing whereas Qin Yan was a ruthless person outside. But in front of each other, both of them turned into little girls fighting and arguing with each other.2

Qin Yan sighed, "Okay, it's my bad. Don't be angry. Wait here for a while, I will come back after changing," Qin Yan said to Yun Jian.

Yun Jian nodded, "Okay, go ahead."

Qin Yan returned to her bedroom and went for a shower. She then had a change of clothes and walked out of the bedroom freshened.

She boiled a cup of water for herself and made coffee for Yun Jian. Her menses were still going on and she had to avoid caffeinated drinks and some cold stuff. Hot water or brown sugar water was the best to warm her stomach.

Today, she had had the street food to satisfy her cravings. Now she had to control her junk food intake in order to stay healthy. So she just had a cup of warm water.

She placed the coffee in front of Yun Jian. It was the latter's favourite, Expresso.

"Okay, now tell me what did you find out?" she asked Yun Jian while taking a sip.
