129: The Han family

The Han family

Qin Yan knocked the door of the hospital room. Elder Han, Han Jun and Mrs. Han all looked at the closed door of the luxurious ward.2

"I think father is here," Han Jun guessed while walking towards the door.

As soon as he opened the door, a beautiful face came into his sight. He was pleasantly surprised, "Big boss!" he called out to Qin Yan. It was unexpected for Qin Yan to show up at this time as her time to treat Elder Han was in the afternoon.

"Miss Qin, how are you?" Mrs. Han asked.

"Thank you Mrs. Han, I am fine," Qin Yan replied courteously.

"Oh, you are still calling me so formally. You can call me aunty. After all my son is just a year younger than you," Mrs. Han reminded Qin Yan of Han Liwei.

Elder Han could guess his daughter-in-law's intentions but he ignored the latter. In fact, when Han Hongyang wanted to marry again after Han Jun's mother died, he had agreed to it. But when Han Hongyang made him meet Mrs. Han, he knew that nothing good could come out of this marriage.

Han Jun's mother was from a good family of scholars. Although they were not as rich as Han family, but their family was scandal free as her parents were reputed professors and scholars.

Han Jun's mother unfortunately died during labour. This made the main branch of Han family without any lady of the house. This was very hectic and stressful for everyone.

At this time, Father Han decided to marry a nurse who helped in the labour of Han Jun's mother. Father Han knew this nurse for a long time as she accompanied Han Jun's mother for checkup everytime. She had good behaviour and did not stick to Father Han because of his identity. She always maintained a polite distance from him. This made Father Han realise that the nurse was a good lady and not greedy for money and power.

As she was already a nurse and a caretaker, she could also take care of Han Jun properly. Father Han loved Han Jun's mother very much and had already clarified to the nurse that she would just be his wife in name and no other relations could be maintained with her.

The nurse agreed as she liked Father Han's personality and she was quite impressed by how he took care of his late wife during pregnancy. She didn't take his words to heart. After all, Mother Han had already died. Father Han being a young man surely had his needs. Who would he go to for relieving himself? Obviously, he would come to his new wife.

But what she didn't expect was Father Han was really loyal to Han Jun's mother. After she died, he only remarried so that the house gets a lady and Han Jun would be brought up properly. He did it for his family and his child.

So, after getting married, Father Han gave all the responsibilities of the house and the child to Mrs. Han. Then he threw himself into work mode just to cope up with the feeling of loss of his wife. He didn't come home often and whenever he did, he did not stay in the same room as Mrs. Han.

After a month of getting married, Mrs. Han realised that Father Han was being serious when he told her that there would be no relations as husband and wife between them. This made her fantasy world shatter and she got a reality check. But she did not want to accept this reality. What would she gain by just taking care of the house and Han Jun? He was not even her child and her husband loved his ex-wife to the core.

This realisation made Mrs. Han suffer and she gradually started plotting. She hated Han Jun and tried to get him into accidents many times but she could not succeed even a single time. She didn't know that she couldn't succeed because Elder Han did not allow her to.

Elder Han, a man who had brought the Han family into upper echelon was not stupid. He could see Mrs. Han's intentions quite clearly. But Father Han could not because he was rarely at home.

When Mrs. Han failed at killing Han Jun, she decided to employ a different method. One night, when Father Han came home drunk after his meeting, Mrs. Han lit an aphrodisiac candle in his room. The already drunk Father Han could not decipher Mrs. Han's plan and fell into her trap.

The next day before Father Han could ask any questions to Mrs. Han, he found her crying while sitting on the floor with tattered clothes. He felt extremely guilty at what he had done with Mrs. Han and he trusted her when she said that he had forced himself on her.

Mrs. Han at that time, said that she did not need anything and it was fine even if Father Han forced her as he was her husband and this was normal between husband and wife. But Father Han was a strong headed person and he firmly believed that anything without consent is not proper behaviour. Moreover, Mrs. Han's behaviour melted his heart.

He was already feeling guilty for whatever happened when he learnt that Mrs. Han was pregnant. The guilt in his heart intensified and he could not bring himself to say that he did not want a baby with Mrs. Han.

Also Mrs. Han promised Father Han that he only had to care for Han Jun and there is no pressure on him with respect to the child in her stomach.

But how could that happen! After all, the child in her belly was the flesh and blood of Father Han. Moreover, the feeling of guilt in his heart made him take care of both the mother and the child. In the end, till Han Liwei was born, Father Han had developed an attachment towards Mrs. Han.

Mrs. Han had always put on a pretense of a good mother to Han Jun and a good wife to Father Han. Also she had accepted the identity of mistress of the house and she performed her duties obediently.

As she belonged to a poor family, she did not have any etiquettes and mannerisms that a lady of a prestigious family like Hans should have. When she went to socialize other ladies would laugh at her.

But as she had decided to enter the upper echelon, she gritted her teeth and learnt everything that she should know. Be it table manners, or other things like managing the finances of the house, she learnt everything diligently.

Father Han saw the hard work that his wife had put on for his family and eventually fell in love with her. The birth of Han Liwei was a happy occasion for both of them. Han Liwei was just a year younger than Han Jun as Mrs. Han had taken actions sooner.

But her calculations went wrong when she realised that the whole Han family was in Elder Han's hands and Han Hongyang, her husband had negligible influence in the family and was barely managing the company because of his limited capabilities.

This realisation made Mrs. Han change her plans and she started to get Han Liwei closer to Elder Han. She would always try to prove that Han Jun was a notorious kid while Han Liwei was a smart and diligent one.

Elder Han could see through every action of Mrs. Han. Also as Han Jun grew up, he realised that his grandson loved him very much and had exceptional capabilities. He was much better than his father and could give competition to Elder Han.

Han Jun's eyes had the decisiveness and a clarity in them. He was fierce on outside but soft on inside. Whereas Han Liwei was a shrewd person. Under the influence of Mrs. Han, he would weigh every word before saying and measure the pros and cons. This made him get alienated with Elder Han.
