The next week, Qin Yan met Lu Che through Yun Jian. She had explained the case to the latter much earlier and brought him to the Xu house to check on Xu Lei. Lu Che was puzzled seeing a lady in front of him and hearing her request. But since this was an exchange, he refrained to ask any unnecessary questions and just focussed on his work.2

The doorbell to the Xu house rang. Qin Yan and Lu Che stood in front of the Xu parents. Although the Xu parents knew that Qin Yan would bring Lu Che, they were nonetheless surprised seeing him in person.

Their trust in Qin Yan increased by leaps and bounds as they realised that she was being serious. 

"Miss, Doctor Lu, please come in," The Xu parents greeted the duo on their door.

The duo entered the house. Lu Che looked around and saw that this was a fairly moderate house different from his other patients. He did not show any disdain towards anything which indicated his focus towards his work and his professionalism. He didn't care if his patient was rich or poor, he just loved challenges. 

He wished to treat and know about new diseases everyday. When he came to know about Xu Lei's condition, he took this as a challenge since the surgery was very difficult.

"Miss, Doctor Lu, please have a seat. What would you like to have?" Mother Xu asked the duo amicably.

"Mrs. Xu, if you don't mind, I would like to see the patient first. These formalities are unnecessary," Lu Che spoke his mind.

"No problem, please come with me, Doctor Lu," Father Xu got up and directed Lu Che towards Xu Lei's room. Qin Yan and Mother Xu followed behind them. 

He knocked the door of his daughter's room before entering with her permission. Xu Dong was in his sister's room having some snacks with her and keeping her company.

"Doctor Lu, this is my daughter. We're so thankful that you're willing to come see her today!" Father Xu introduced Lu Che to Xu Lei.

Doctor Lu? Lu Che? Xu Dong quickly stood up and greeted the doctor politely. This doctor was his little sister's saving grace. Lu Che was a well-respected doctor!

He earned his fame when he was young and he had participated in many surgeries since. He had zero percent failure!

He knew that the doctor only returned to S city because of Qin Yan. His respect for Qin Yan increased even more. 

The Xu Family had tried contacting Lu Che many times to come see Xu Lei but Lu Che had ignored them. But today, the doctor had visited them in person only because of the lady who was like an angel to them! This was truly a blessing!

Father Xu saw Lu Che examining Xu Lei and then turned to Lu Che. "Doctor Lu, do you think my daughter…"

Lu Che finished examining Xu Lei before answering, "Her condition is bad but it can be treated. The only matter is the surgery needs to be done as soon as possible."

The whole Xu family lit up hearing Lu Che's words. Xu Lei could be saved! This was the best words they had heard in last few months. Their eyes were filled with tears. 

"Doctor Lu, we are ready for the surgery whenever you say," Xu Dong replied immediately. He didn't want to delay Xu Lei's recovery anymore. In fact, every person in the Xu family wanted to treat Xu Lei as soon as possible. 

"Okay, then we will operate on Miss Xu day after tomorrow. I need to arrange everything at the hospital, it will take atleast a day's time. Day after tomorrow, bring Miss Xu to the People's Hospital in the morning," Lu Che mentioned everything straightforwardly. 

The Xu family agreed readily. Lu Che gave some instructions to the patient and her family before leaving with Qin Yan.

The day of the surgery arrived. Early in the morning, Qin Yan went to the hospital to make preparation. 

When Xu Lei arrived at the hospital, she was surprised to find so many doctors there. Her mood inexplicably turned nervous. Today was the turning point of her life. If it went well, she would get a new chance in life. If anything went wrong, her life would sink into a bottomless abyss again.

"You people need to be careful.. This machine is very important! Doctor Lu has adjusted everything so it can be used directly! Just be careful."

A guy put on the hat and wig to disguise himself. He stared at the machine and rushed towards it. The sudden collision caught the nurses off guard. The guy touched something on the machine and uttered in a low voice, "Sorry!" Then he scurried away. What machine would have such tight nobs? The guy had no idea if he had manipulated any changes.

The chief nurse looked at the man and then at the machine. When she saw that the machine was fine, she told the other nurses, "We mustn't let Doctor Lu know about the thing that happened earlier. The machine looks fine to me but if Doctor Lu finds out, we will all lose our jobs!"

The other nurses nodded solemnly. They all agreed to pretend that they didn't see anyone and pushed the machine into the operating theatre.

Xu Lei was also pushed into the operation theatre. The Xu parents and Xu Dong stood outside in the hospital corridor wishing her good luck.

In the operation theatre, the anesthesiologist administered general anaesthesia to Xu Lei after which she fell into a deep sleep.

A doctor had packed all the tools Xu Lei needed for the surgery. The machine was connected. Everyone was waiting for Doctor Lu Che's arrival. If this surgery was successful, it would be significant to medical development.

Today, the usage of 3d printed bones could allow surgeons to observe a patient's lesion more clearly to facilitate clearer dissection. It will allow the surgeon to study the connections between the local nerve plexus and vascular bundle, as well as connections with the adjacent internal organs. On this basis, Doctor Lu Che had come up with a proposal to connect 3d printed bones with living human skeletons.

Doctor Lu Che and Qin Yan entered the operation theatre one after another. Although, Lu Che knew that Qin Yan was the person behind the largest pharmaceutical company in the country, but he only had a glimpse of her medical knowledge. So it was decided mutually that Qin Yan would just observe the surgery.

Qin Yan's intentions of entering the operating theatre were different though. She was there to prevent any untoward incidents if happened. 

The other doctors looked at Qin Yan strangely. "Doctor Lu, this is?" they asked Lu Che.

"Just focus on your work," When the other doctors looked at Lu Che's expression, they quickly shut their mouths.

"Teacher, are you sure this material is compatible with human bones?" A doctor asked Lu Che.

"Yes, I've sought out the best material to make a bioabsorbable bone model. During the bone grafting process, I will add resin powder and EVONIK onto the bones to make them into a polymer with high compatibility with human bones," Lu Che replied.

The surgeons separated Xu Lei's pubic bone from his leg bone. Qin Yan was impressed by Lu Che's technique. He separated the non-mucous membrane and the bone wall without a single mistake. The 3d model was placed between the two ends of the bone. The next step was to connect the blood vessels and nerves. 

Once the bone mucous membrane absorbed them, the new bone would be formed. When the blood vessels and nerves could pass through the implanted bone, the body had completely recovered.

Lu Che had used the surgical simulation machine to simulate the proposals many times and this was the best solution for Xu Lei.

If Xu Lei's surgery was successful, it meant that this technology could be replicated in other surgeries like spinal reconstruction.

"I didn't think it'd be possible!"

"Amazing, this is absolutely amazing!"

"We are going to teach this in classes. Doctor Lu is surely amazing."

"We need to record this surgery, it is going to be monumental. Our country's medical standard will skyrocket because of it."

Just as everyone was watching the miracle being performed, a young nurse suddenly exclaimed, "Doctor Lu, the patient's blood pressure dropped. The cell activity in her left leg is dropping too."

Lu Che who was guiding the blood vessels into the printed bone lifted her head when he heard this. Qin Yan turned to Xu Lei's left leg and she noticed the machine used to fix Xu Lei's leg had deviated by 2 mm. The machine's calibration had gone wrong.

"Teacher, the blood vessels in Xu Lei's leg have ruptured. Her leg is dying. The bone model is not going to fit also." Hearing the report from the junior doctor, Lu Che glanced at the chief nurse. The nurse turned away from guilt.
