Flashback!

Qin Yan, Elder Tang and Elder Su proceeded towards Elder Su's teahouse. After reaching their destination, Elder Su confirmed with Qin Yan, "Is there nobody you want to call?"2

Qin Yan shook her head silently. She should be feeling bad right now that she had nobody important enough to let them witness her apprenticeship ceremony. But she did not feel sad as she knew that there were people who genuinely cared for her even though they could not be available for her right now.

Elder Su acknowledged Qin Yan's situation and signalled for everyone to proceed further. They all went into the teahouse and took their respective seats.

After settling down, Qin Yan advanced to serve the tea to Elder Su.

"Master above, accept my three bows."

After the tea, she respectfully called him Master and bowed three more times.

Although this was a modern world, some people still did not want their traditional practices to fade away. Elder Su was one of them. Qin Yan knew this fact and her actions were all in accordance to this.

Elder Su and Elder Tang were quite impressed by Qin Yan's actions. They did not expect a young lady like her to know these customs. But since she knew it, it helped her gain respect from the two elders.

Elder Su responded faintly and said sternly, "Well, get up. I am taking you as a disciple now. But it doesn't mean that you will be my disciple throughout the life no matter what happens. I want you to know clearly that you cannot use your skills or the skills passed down by me to harm others or gain any benefit from harming others. If you do so, you will cease to be my student with immediate effect. Understand?"

Qin Yan nodded and left with Elder Tang. She was very happy today that she could again be acknowledged by her master. Now she just needed to tell Xi Ting everything so that her life would come back to the track.

Xi Ting was waiting for Qin Yan to come back. He was excited and curious about where she wanted to take him.

He had an inkling that he would know the truth today and thus he had been subconsciously thinking about the things that happened these few days. He drifted back to the day when he had almost confirmed that Qin Yan was his cookie.

Xi ting took out his phone and made a call, "Help me find out something." The call was made to Tong Chunian and Xi Ting asked him to send all the details of Qin Yan to himself.

Before this, he only knew about the investigation that had been done by Xi Jung. But that investigation did not bring him any results.

This time Xi Ting asked Tong Chunian to investigate Qin Yan from her childhood till date. Tong Chunian immediately went to work after getting his boss's order.

After few hours, Tong Chunian called Xi Ting back, "Boss, I have sent you the details on your mail. You can have a look. But..."

He didn't know how to put forward his thoughts, so Tong Chunian paused for a while.

"Did you find anything weird?" Xi Ting asked calmly. He had already expected that something would definitely be wrong if the investigation was done carefully.

"Actually, from the childhood till a last few months, everything that happened to Miss Qin was explainable. From her getting fat and ugly to her grades, everything had a reason. But what is the most unexplainable thing is that a few months ago, her personality changed 180 degrees," Tong Chunian continued, "From being stupid, she suddenly turned smart. She could see through schemes of her family and could retaliate against them. Her personality underwent a drastic change a few months ago."

Xi Ting frowned at the information from his assistant. 'A sudden personality change? How is this possible?' he wondered.

"Did you find out when exactly this happened?" Xi Ting asked Tong Chunian.

Tong Chunian flipped the pages of the reports he was holding and replied, "It was when the little young master and second young master had gone to S city, when the little young master met Miss Qin."

Xi Ting's face turned sharp at Tong Chunian's words. 'Wasn't it almost the same time when Mo Ran died and he slipped into coma? Xi Jung had to leave the hospital and rush to S city for an important business deal! And he had brought Xiaobao with him at the same time!'

Xi Ting's mind was in a mess. Although he had expected this, when he actually found it out, his legs became wobbly and he reached out to sit on the bed.

"I understand," he replied to Tong Chunian before hanging up the call.

Cold sweat formed on his forehead as he thought of different possibilities that could have occurred. But before going deeper into it, he opened his email and looked at the contents of the report.

The report was very detailed, different from what Xi Jung had found which just included the possibility of Qin Yan scheming against them or not. It was conducted on surface and the whole life of Qin Yan was not depicted.

This report included everything from the Qin family and the way each member of Qin family treated Qin Yan. It also mentioned Xi Yaohua and the side branch of Xi family.

Xi Ting paused over this name and tried to recollect the memory of the person mentioned. But since the side branch of Xi family had a bare minimum interaction with the main house, he could not figure out the exact relationship between them. Just because it was related to his family, had Xi Ting paused on Xi Yaohua's name. But since the other things were more important now, he skipped to the next part.

The report mentioned how Qin Muran and Lu Yaran schemed against Qin Yan and Qin Yicheng just watched the show without taking any action. Qin Mufeng was the only support of Qin Yan in the Qin family.

This information also sprouted a seed of doubt about Qin Yan in Xi Ting's mind. Qin Muran scheming against her sister could be understood as she could be fighting for attention with the other sister.

Qin Yicheng not involving himself in Qin Yan's matters could also be understood in the light that he was mostly concerned about his company and rarely paid attention to household matters.

What shocked him the most was the behaviour of Lu Yaran. Why would someone be so biased against a daughter and favour the other daughter so much? The reason that Qin Yan was not presentable was not valid as Lu Yaran had schemed against Qin Yan so that she could become like this.

But why in the first place would a mother hate her daughter so much! Xi Ting felt something gravely wrong with this matter, so keeping this point in his mind to be examined later, he proceeded further.

The report continued when what Tong Chunian told him was mentioned. Qin Yan's personality underwent a drastic change. In so many years that she was having the chicken soup made by her mother, she did not find anything wrong. But suddenly she got suspicious and gave the soup for testing. Moreover, under the nose of her mother, she retaliated back with such moves that Lu Yaran could not do anything when she found out. Her moves were sharp and accurate.

She also regained her looks and turned to a gorgeous lady. She suddenly went from a dumb failure student to a top student. Everything just did not make any sense. Nothing fit in the puzzle.
