Han Jun prepared a room at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, one of the best hotels of S city. It was filled with entertainment facilities for the group of students.1

Qin Yan looked at her friends preparing so much for her and a wave of warmth passed through her heart. She felt fortunate to find such a group of friends even in this life.

She was not surprised at her results as she had already expected this. She looked at her cellphone and sighed. She didn't get a call from her moonpie. In fact when she texted him asking about his whereabouts, he told her that he was on a business trip.

Lu Yaran came out of the prison haggard. She had suffered quite a bit in the prison. Her being arrogant did not help her even a bit. The prison cell had a leader whom Lu Yaran had offended. She thus suffered beatings almost regularly.

When she came out of the prison, Lu Yaran did not see anyone from Qin family waiting for her. She was disappointed. She had not expected anything from Qin Yicheng but she expected her beloved daughter Qin Muran to be there.

However, she could not complain. So, Lu Yaran took a taxi back home.

Reaching the Qin villa, she instructed the guard to pay for the taxi and she entered the villa in the haggard state. The guard had a hard time recognizing her.

The Qin family was also preparing for a banquet for Qin Muran and thus Qin Yicheng and Qin Muran were busy doing all the arrangements.

Qin Yicheng specially prepared for the banquet as it was extremely necessary for him to uphold his reputation. He had curbed the news regarding Lu Yaran but still some people came to know it and thus different kinds of rumours were spreading in the circle.

This banquet would bring the focus on Qin Muran and it would bring up the Qin family back to its glory. Hence, Qin Yicheng took this banquet very seriously.

Qin Muran on the other hand was very happy with her score. She had not expected that she would be able to get placed fifth in the province. She didn't know the grades of others as she was busy preparing for the banquet.

As soon as Lu Yaran stepped into the living room, a pungent smell spread all over the room making both father and daughter frown. They looked at the source of the smell and saw Lu Yaran standing there in a very bad state.

They both knew that Lu Yaran would be released today as Qin Mufeng had already informed them about it. But they didn't expect Lu Yaran to turn out to be like this in just a few days.

Her clothes were tattered and her hair was messy. Since she could not use any skincare products in the prison, she looked ten years older than what she was. Her face was covered in wrinkles and she looked like an old lady.

Qin Yicheng's face showed clear disdain towards his wife. But Qin Muran controlled her expression and ran towards Lu Yaran. Standing two feet away from her mother, she greeted enthusiastically, "Mother!"

Lu Yaran saw Qin Yicheng's disdain on his face and felt hurt. This was the life partner she had chosen. He was good to her in her good times but as soon as she stepped into trouble, he didn't waste a minute to abandon her.

Looking at Qin Yicheng, Lu Yaran did not see the disdain in her daughter's eyes. As soon as Qin Muran greeted her, Lu Yaran's eyes were filled with tears. She immediately stepped forward and hugged her daughter without seeing the latter's reluctance.

"Muran, my baby, how are you?" she asked Qin Muran without letting her go.

Qin Muran's face scrunched up in disgust. She could not bear the pungent smell coming from Lu Yaran. This scene was seen by Qin Yicheng and thus he separated his daughter from his wife.

He frowned at his wife and said sternly, "Look at the state you are in. You are dirtying our daughter. Quick, go and have a shower before doing anything else. We will talk after you wash yourself up," Qin Yicheng waved his hand before his nose to dispel the pungent smell and ordered the servants to clean the living room.

Lu Yaran came back to her senses after hearing her husband. She let go of Qin Muran hurriedly, "Muran, sorry sorry, I was too excited to hug you that I didn't remember my state. Don't worry I'll go and have a shower now," with that she walked upstairs to wash herself up.

"Mom..." Qin Muran mumbled but did not stop her mother. 'I also have to wash up again,' she sighed and went back to her room.

After a while, both mother daughter came downstairs, both freshened up. Lu Yaran's appearance inproved but the signs of age were still visible on her face even after applying more makeup to hide it. Her face looked cakey and unnatural.

Qin Muran walked towards her mother and held her arm, "Mom, come and sit," she directed Lu Yaran towards the couch.

Lu Yaran sat on the couch and looked around at her house. This was the life that she had chosen, but because of an ingrate, she was thrown into the prison. She didn't have any soft mattress or a comfortable couch over there. Every time she was in discomfort, she would curse Qin Yan hundred times.

Seeing her mother in a daze, Qin Muran felt bad. She shook Lu Yaran's hand and asked with concern, "Mom, are you okay? Did you suffer too much in there?"

Lu Yaran broke from her daze by Qin Muran's actions. She gazed at her daughter and patted the latter's head, "Muran, don't worry. Mother is fine. If not for that ingrate, I would never be in that place. I should have just killed her instead of just fracturing her hand," Remembering her last meet with Qin Yan, Lu Yaran gritted her teeth, 'That bitch is so hateful!'

She continued, "This was my revenge for the last time she harmed you and I don't regret doing it. If there is anything that I regret is that I should not have let her off easily."

Qin Muran also felt the same. Although she thought that Qin Yan was not able to appear in the examinations, she was not satisfied with this setback of hers. She wanted to ruin Qin Yan's life.

Qin Muran patted Lu Yaran's hand and said, "Mom, It's okay. I have already got my revenge. That bitch could not appear in college entrance exam and this was the best revenge for me. Thank you mom, I love you the most," Qin Muran hugged Lu Yaran's hand tightly.

Lu Yaran stiffened hearing her daughter's words. She knew that Qin Yan had appeared in the exams for sure. She looked at her daughter's happiness and could not bring herself to reveal the truth in front of her. She just hoped that Qin Yan would not do well in the exam.

The mother daughter chatted for a while after which Lu Yaran noticed that everybody seemed busy. "What is going on?" She asked seeing Qin Yicheng constantly on calls.

"Mom, today the college entrance exam results were released. Your Muran is placed fifth in the whole province," Qin Muran held Lu Yaran's hand and exclaimed happily.

Lu Yaran's eyes lit up. She almost jumped off the couch in happiness and held Qin Muran by her shoulders. She shook the latter, "Muran, is what you said true? My daughter is placed fifth in the province?"

Qin Muran nodded happily.

Lu Yaran's face shone brightly at this news. This was the best news that she had heard in last few days.

"Congratulations, my daughter, Congratulations!" she said to her daughter.

"Thank you, mom. Dad is organising a celebratory banquet for me. So these preparations are for that banquet," Qin Muran informed her mother.

"Great! Have you invited your classmates?" Lu Yaran asked Qin Muran.

Qin Muran shook her head and said, "I was just about to when you came."

"Okay, Go and see which classmates you want to invite," Lu Yaran freed Qin Muran from her side.

Qin Muran was happy that she had performed exceptionally well this time. She nodded and started calling people.

The two banquets were coincidentally arranged at Mandarin Oriental Hotel at the same time.

No one mentioned Qin Yan at any point of time. It was like she had just disappeared from their lives.

Qin Mufeng was not present in the house but he had promised to be at Qin Muran's banquet in the evening. Although he was extremely angry at Lu Yaran, he didn't want to punish Qin Muran for no reason.

So when he came to know about her scores, he was very happy and agreed to celebrate her success with his sister. The release of Lu Yaran was a gift of this success which Qin Muran had asked from her big brother.

As Qin Mufeng knew that Qin Yan would not be able to appear in the exam, he did not ask about her results so as to not touch her sore spot.
