Qin Yan saw Qin Mufeng standing on the door. She did not wish to see him right now but he strode towards her, "Yan Yan, congratulations!"2

Qin Yan forced a smile on her face, "Thank you, brother!"

Qin Mufeng observed Qin Yan's forced smile and felt helpless and guilty. He knew that today morning's call had estranged his relationship with his little sister but there was nothing else he could do.

He was shocked to see Qin Yan's result and wanted to ask her why hadn't she informed him about anything but when he thought about his own actions, he understood that he had lost the right to question his sister. This made him frustrated but he still chose to congratulate her.

However, seeing a forced smile on Qin Yan's face, he realised that he was not needed there. He nodded at Qin Yan and said, "Yan Yan, I will leave now. You can continue with your gathering." Qin Mufeng did not want his little sister to get uncomfortable in front of her friends, so he left after saying goodbye.

Qin Yan, on the other hand, wanted time to adjust her mind so that she could understand her brother's point of view. But because her mind was clouded with disappointment now, she needed time to sort out her emotions. Thus, she also did not stop Qin Mufeng.

Qiao Qing observed the estranged conversation of the brother and sister but she did not comment anything so as to not put Qin Yan in a difficult position.

"Muran, Yaohua, you're back! Have you found out? What's happening upstairs?" Lu Yaran asked impatiently.

"It's an important event. The guests who left probably went to show their faces there…" Qin Muran only mentioned the important event, but she did not bring Qin Yan up at all. Nobody in her group mentioned anything about Qin Yan. They all hated her to the core so nobody crossed Qin Muran's words.

Still, just because Qin Muran's group hid it from the Qin and Xi families, it did not mean that the others would not talk about it.

Qin Mufeng came over unexpectedly and crossed Qin Muran's statements, "Mom, dad, it's Yan Yan. She is the provincial topper in the college entrance exam and thus her class had organised a celebration party upstairs. All the presidents of top universities came here in person to poach her to their universities."

Lu Yaran's face went pale. "Qin Mufeng, what did you say?"

"Mufeng, you came so late so how do you know all this? Stop speaking nonsense!" Qin Yicheng's expression changed when he heard Qin Yan's name.

Qin Mufeng looked at his family and felt even more disappointed. He glanced in the direction of Qin Muran and saw her head hanging low. He had already witnessed the conversation between Qin Yan and Qin Muran, so he knew the truth. However, seeing Qin Muran hiding things from her parents made him feel sad for his family. He now seemed to understand how flawed his family was. But it was too late. Nothing could be changed.

However, he still chose to reveal the truth, "You think I'm talking nonsense? If you don't believe me, you can ask Qin Muran if I'm telling the truth! What reason do I have to lie to you?"

"Presidents of Tong University, Jiang University, and the Director of Shuang University were there," Qin Mufeng explained.

"Xi Yaohua, is he telling the truth?" Before Qin Muran could say anything, Xi Yaohua's mother, Cai Jingyi, was holding onto Xi Yaohua's arm in disbelief. Lu Yaran and Xi Bingyu were shocked as well.

Lu Yaran could not believe anything Qin Mufeng just said. It was like… a fairytale story…

Even if she knew that Qin Yan was not a left-hander, but getting the top place in college entrance exam was totally a blow for her. Why did she take such a risk to harm her! She even had to stay in prison for a month!

Xi Yaohua's expression darkened and he did not say anything at all, but his silence was enough to be deemed the truth.

It was still far from being over. Qin Mufeng continued, "Those are nothing. Even the President of Hua University, President Ma, and the elusive President Yan were there! With such a legendary lineup, of course people would run over after hearing about it…"

Qin Yicheng was shocked. "What? President Ma was there?"

He could understand the commotion since President Ma was the principal of one of the top universities, Hua University…

"President Yan… Which President Yan?" Qin Yicheng asked.

"The principal of Beijing University, President Yan!"

Everyone stood stunned after hearing what Qin Mufeng said. Even the closed ones of the Qin and Xi families who did not go upstairs but chose to stay at the banquet, couldn't help but gossip in hushed voices.

[Isn't this funny? The Qin family threw their elder daughter out of their house and she turned out to be so outstanding!]

[True. I think there must be something wrong with the Qin family that Qin Yan could not reveal her capabilities while living with Qin family.]

[I agree, otherwise how could an ugly dumb girl turn into a gorgeous and smartest student?]

The Presidents of top universities were here, but Qin Muran could not get any attention from them. Only the directors of some universities offered perks to her for getting her admitted to their universities. On the other hand, Qin Yan, being a provincial topper was enough to make them invest in so much effort for her?

Xi Bingyu and Cai Jingyi looked at each other, noticing the fear in each other's eyes.

In comparison to Qin Yan, Qin Muran seemed a loss. Qin Muran saw the faint traces of regret on Xi Bingyu and Cai Jingyi's expressions, then she clenched her fists so hard that her manicured fingernails almost broke.

Cai Jingyi's expression hardened. She could not suppress her emotions anymore, and she looked at Qin Muran in annoyance. "Going to send off the guests or to embarrass yourself?"

Qin Muran bit her lips, her eyes were red. "Father… Mother… I'm really sorry. It's my fault. I should not have agreed to hold a celebratory banquet. I really didn't expect it'd clash with elder sister's party…" Qin Muran choked between sobs, appearing wronged.

So, why would they have clashed so coincidentally? And on such a bitter note?

The two families present had started to think about this question, especially Lu Yaran, who was so angry that she immediately cursed in rage, "That brat, she's clearly doing this on purpose!"

No matter how it happened, it was no longer a matter of consideration. The priority was still to quickly smooth things over.

Xi Yaohua calmed down and asked, "Have the directors of the universities left?"

"Yes, they left a long time ago. We have noted their offers and we will decide which university Muran wants to go to, afterwards," Qin Yicheng replied.

Qin Mufeng suddenly remembered something and asked, "By the way, Muran, did you get offer or call from Beijing University?"

Qin Muran was stunned hearing her brother's question. But when she thought for a while, she realised that she had not gotten any call from Beijing University. She shook her head in denial at Qin Mufeng's question.

Everybody was stunned. They had not realised this till now. Considering Qin Muran's grades, she should have gotten the call from Beijing University. But she didn't, why?

Qin Mufeng understood why this was the case. Beijing University was different from other universities, and this was the reason why it was the top university of the country. Unlike other universities, Beijing University not only focussed on the grades of the students but also their thoughts and their character.

Last time that Qin Muran went to Beijing University for the competition, the chaos caused by her words was the reason why she didn't get any offer call from Beijing University. So even if she was ranked fifth in the province, Beijing University did not consider her.

On the other hand, Qin Yan was being pleaded by President Yan to get admitted to Beijing University. This showed the difference between the two sisters.

All the people looked over at Qin Mufeng for the answer. Qin Mufeng sighed and explained everything in detail to both the families. Everyone's face darkened even more. But now nobody was supposed to react to this situation.

After he pondered for a long while, Xi Bingyu finally took a deep breath and said, "Let's send the guests off first."
