We are together!

Qin Yan giggled, "Okay, okay, calm down. I will tell you everything!"

Yun Jian smiled and looked at Qin Yan with eager eyes awaiting the news from her best friend.

"Do you remember Xi Ting?" Qin Yan asked.

"Of course! How dare I forget the great Young Master Xi?"

"Young Master Xi?" Qin Yan was baffled hearing Yun Jian, "Jian Jian.." Qin Yan gazed at Yun Jian, "You knew his identity?"

Yun Jian's expression cracked. She came to a sudden realisation by hearing Qin Yan. She had misspoken! It just blurted out from her mouth! But it was too late now! Qin Yan had already noted her words. She couldn't take them back. So she accepted guiltily, "Yes.." Yun Jian said with her head lowered, "Yan Yan, I am sorry I didn't tell you..."

Qin Yan took a deep breath trying to understand why her best friend hid such a big thing from her. She also felt a sense of betrayal, "Then may I ask Miss Yun Jian why didn't you tell me?"

Glancing at Qin Yan's face, Yun Jian shrunk back, "I am sorry but he took a promise from me to not tell you his real identity. He liked you a lot and he was afraid that you would run away if you knew his identity. He didn't tell me either but I came to know about it by chance."

Qin Yan heard Yun Jian's reason and she knew that there was nothing that she could do about it. Because of her nature, both her best friends had kept Xi Ting's identity a secret from her. She felt bad but she couldn't get angry with either of them. She loved both of them too much.

"But why are you asking me about Young Master Xi?" Yun Jian tried to divert the topic.

She got successful as Qin Yan's frown eased, "You knew that he liked me?"

Yun Jian scratched her head, 'Why is Qin Yan asking such questions to me!' she wondered. 'Haven't I already said that I knew everything!'

Nevertheless, she had to answer so she nodded her head, "Yes, I knew that he liked you."

Qin Yan nodded and gazed at Yun Jian before suddenly dropping a bomb on the latter, "We both are in a relationship now!"

"What!" Yun Jian failed to collect her thoughts, "What did you say?" she almost jumped off the table in shock.

Qin Yan didn't expect such a strong reaction from her friend so she reflexively shrank back, "Calm down! What's the matter? Why are you so shocked?"

"Yan Yan! Say that again! I think that I heard wrong! What did you say just now?" Yun Jian wanted to confirm that what she had heard was not true.

Qin Yan told Yun Jian to be calm, "I and Xi Ting are together!" She reiterated her previous words.

"What a scumbag!" Yun Jian said angrily, "He used to say that he loved you but now he is in relationship with another girl! Shit! Men are all despicable!" Yun Jian almost swore.

"Another girl?" Qin Yan glanced at Yun Jian in confusion, "What are you saying? Why can't I understand a single word?"

"Obviously, you are in other person's body right now! How can Xi Ting like you? Didn't he like Mo Ran, the previous you? Just because he found you similar, he started liking you like a substitute? Bastard!" Yun Jian completely misunderstood the whole situation.

When Qin Yan understood what Yun Jian was thinking, she held her forehead in exhaustion, "Oh god, you have totally misunderstood everything. He knows that I am Mo Ran!"

"What?" This was another shock for Yun Jian. She didn't know how and when all this happened.

Yun Jian sat down again and asked Qin Yan clearly, "Tell me everything from the start. I cannot understand anything."

"Miss, your food is ready!" the helper in the shop interrupted the two friends and served the food to Yun Jian and Qin Yan.

Their favourite dish pork barbecue was ready. It was made with a marinade and cooked in long, narrow strips. This form of barbecue was known as char siu. Char siu literally meant "fork burn/roast" after the traditional cooking method for the dish.

Long strips of seasoned boneless pork were skewered with long forks and placed in a covered oven or over a fire. The meat, typically a shoulder cut, was seasoned with a mixture of honey, five-spice powder, fermented tofu, dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice wine. These seasonings turned the exterior layer of meat dark red.

Qin Yan's mouth watered seeing her favourite dish.

But Yun Jian was in no mood to savour the food. She did not even lift her chopsticks and stared at Qin Yan without blinking.

Qin Yan sighed, "All right, I will tell you everything from the beginning. But atleast start your meal. I will speak while eating."

Yun Jian looked at Qin Yan to confirm that she was not lying. Seeing her clear eyes, she picked up her chopsticks and started eating.

When Qin Yan put the food in her mouth, her eyes automatically closed in satisfaction. The meat was smoked, with the finished product burnished on the outside, boasting a thick, salty, savory crust and a tender, somewhat rosy interior.

"Yan Yan!" Yun Jian reminded Qin Yan to focus on the topic.

"Umm.." Qin Yan swallowed the bite she had in her mouth before speaking, "So, it is like this..."

Qin Yan narrated the whole story to her best friend while savouring her favourite food.

"F*ck! This is real fate!" Yun Jian wiped her mouth after the meal and was stunned to hear about all the coincidences that led to the relationship of both her friends.

Qin Yan got up from the table and burped in satisfaction, "I also think the same way!"

Seeing them finish the meal, the old man walked towards them with the bill, "Was the food satisfactory?" he asked with a smile. Although he knew the answer by looking at their clean wiped out dishes, he felt like speaking to Qin Yan so he asked for the feedback to initiate the conversation.

Qin Yan nodded, "The food was too delicious. I haven't had such good food in a long time," With that she burped again before scratching her head in embarrassment.

"I am glad you liked it," the old man took over the bill book and left with a smile, "Do come back!" he said before getting busy with his work.

"Yes!" Qin Yan and Yun Jian answered in unison.

After getting out of the barbeque place, Yun Jian hugged Qin Yan excitedly, "Congratulations Yan Yan!" Yun Jian was truly happy for her friends. She knew how much Qin Yan mattered to Xi Ting. Knowing that both of them were together made her extremely happy.

"Thank you so much, Jian Jian!" Qin Yan hugged her best friend back.

"I wish both of you happiness," Yun Jian held Qin Yan's hands and said emotionally.

"Jian Jian, why are you getting so emotional? I am not getting married now!" Qin Yan teased her best friend.

Yun Jian pursed her lips unhappily. She pulled her hands back from Qin Yan's and turned around angrily, "Ungrateful fellow! I am happy for you but you only know to laugh at me. Hmmph!"

"Okay okay, I am not teasing you anymore. Jian Jian, smile please," Qin Yan tickled Yun Jian from back.

"Hahahaha, Qin Yan.. Don't.. Don't tickle me, hahahaha." Both of them laughed their hearts out before getting tired.

Exhausted, Yun Jian asked Qin Yan, "How will you go back? Should I drop you?"

"No, I will walk back. I have eaten too much. I feel like my stomach is about to burst!" Qin Yan rubbed her bloated belly.

"Okay then, I'll return first. Be careful on your way back and drop me a message once you reach your room!" Yun Jian bade goodbye to her best friend before hailing a taxi to her residence.

The duo went their separate ways as it was late at night. Qin Yan had to return to her dorms while Yun Jian had to rest at her house after a month long mission.

There was not even the sound of the wind during this silent night.

Casually carrying her handbag on one shoulder and with her other hand inside her pocket, Qin Yan slowly walked towards the Beijing University.

After passing by the row of street food stalls, there was a quiet and empty wooded-pathway.

The streetlight hadn't been maintained for years and merely faint and pale white light shot down.

Everything around here was silent, making the sound of footsteps distinct and noticeable in comparison.

Qin Yan was marching on leisurely when she suddenly stopped her footsteps.

Her nose wrinkled and the heavy smell of blood rushed over.

As she worked to figure out what was happening, her ankles suddenly tightened. Something had grasped onto them.1

Qin Yan borrowed the faint light and lowered her head to take a look. A pale hand that was dyed with blood had tightly grabbed onto her ankle.
