A family of three
The father-son pair were simply too eye-catching, especially when they stood together. They were practically drawing everyone's gazes.
Actually, Qin Yan was quite eye-catching today as well, because of her matching parent-child outfit with the little bun.
"Ah! Look at that father and child, aren't they too good-looking! The adult is so handsome and the child is so cute!"
"That sister by their side is also pretty! This family is so good-looking! Is the father bringing the siblings out? Where's the mother?"
Hearing this, Xi Ting's expression turned dark.
Luckily, the woman next to the man spoke up, "What father bringing out the siblings! That's a whole family, okay? That girl is obviously the man's wife, the child's mother!"
"No way! That girl looks too young!"
"What do you know? It's just that the husband is so much taller than the wife. You can tell from the way that man is looking at that girl. It's obvious that it's the loving gaze of a husband!"
After hearing the discussion of the people at the other table, Qin Yan's heart was beating like a drum.
This brief interlude passed quickly.
After settling down into their seats, Qin Yan let out a sigh of relief, "Ah! It's the most enjoyable feeling when you eat hotpot in winter! Darling Xiaobao, I swear you'll fall in love with this feeling!"
This was the first time that the little bun had gone out for a meal in two years. He was curious towards everything, and looked about everywhere. However, it was only when his little hand was held in Qin Yan's hand that he would remain calm.
Qin Yan flipped through the menu, then asked Xi Ting for his opinion, "You can't eat spicy food, so let's order a hotpot with spicy and non-spicy soups?"
"You decide," Xi Ting nodded, took off his coat, and let his arm rest casually on the back of the seat.
It was an extremely normal action, but when he did that, he seemed to exude pheromones, causing Qin Yan to feel like a little deer was bumping around in her heart.
She didn't know what had happened recently. It seemed like incidents like this were happening even more frequently. The little deer in her heart was about to faint from bumping about too much!
Was Xi Ting doing that on purpose or not?
Very quickly, the soup base and dishes they had ordered arrived. Qin Yan tossed everything to the back of her head in favour of appeasing her hunger.
The Great Young Master Xi was rather strict in the way he ate hotpot. He had everything calculated perfectly, from the order of the items to place in the hotpot, to how long it would take for that particular item to cook. Furthermore, he was regularly serving her and the little bun the whole time. It was even more professional than others.
Qin Yan had never eaten such a worry-free hotpot before. All she had to do was focus on eating. Every item was cooked to perfection, not like how she would accidentally cook items for too short or too long a time.
After they finished eating the hotpot, Little Xiaobao was so tired that he fell asleep while they were halfway home. Qin Yan hugged that soft little child in her embrace and couldn't bear to let go of him.
She found that she was starting to love the little bun even more as they spent time together. It was to the point that she would start to miss him if she didn't see him for a day. If she didn't hug him today, she would feel that there was something missing.
When they reached home, Qin Yan carefully carried the little guy into his room and retired for the night.
*
The next morning, Qin Yan went downstairs and saw a scene that she hadn't seen for a long time.
Little Bun and Big Bun sat opposite each other at the table, one face cold as an iceberg and the other face cold as a little iceberg. It was clear from the atmosphere that they were at loggerheads.
What was this situation?
This father and son pair hadn't quarreled in a long time.
"What's wrong with the both of you?" Qin Yan asked suspiciously.
Hearing Qin Yan's voice, Little Bun immediately clung to her leg as if he had seen his saviour, then stared warily at Xi Ting, as if his father was about to sell him off…
Qin Yan held the Little guy and comforted him for a bit, then looked in Xi Ting's direction, "Xi Ting, what's going on?"
Xi Ting raised his eyes: "I'm sending him to stay with my parents for several days. They haven't seen him in a long time, and they miss him very much. Since he is on holiday, it is the best time to send him over."
"So it's like that!" Qin Yan nodded in understanding.
Seeing this, Little Bun became anxious, and the watery gleam in his big eyes quickly became a layer of misty tears.
Qin Yan's heart was instantly softened. Scratching her head, she looked at Xi Ting, "This, there isn't any other way?"
Xi Ting glanced at her, "No."
"Uh, then it's better to send Little Xiaobao to them after all!" Qin Yan said decisively.
Sorry, Little Bun, Sister also has no choice…
The little guy was instantly struck a great blow. With the expression of a child unloved by his dad and mom, he ran upstairs to hide in his room…
"Uh…" Qin Yan laughed hollowly. "That, I'll go persuade him!"
"Mm."
Upstairs, Qin Yan knocked on the Little bun's room door.
"Darling, would you please open the door for Sister?"
There was no reaction from inside the room.
"Are you really going to ignore me?"
There was still no reaction from inside the room.
It seemed he was really angry!
Qin Yan sighed, but she couldn't do anything about it. She could only go back downstairs, and then she walked outside.
When Xi Ting saw this, he didn't even lift his head, "Don't climb with your bare hands. Have the butler prepare a ladder for you."
After hearing his words, Qin Yan nearly tripped. Was this guy a worm in her stomach? How did he know she was going to climb the wall and get in through a window?
Damn…
Lately, she realized that Xi Ting was understanding her better and better. There were plenty of times where with just one expression in her eyes or one small gesture, he knew what she wanted to do in the next second.
Five minutes later, Qin Yan climbed a ladder and entered the Little guy's room without a hitch.
As soon as the little guy saw her, he threw himself into her arms with his eyes full of tears. His little expression was indescribably aggrieved…
Just now, when there had suddenly been no more reaction outside his room, he had thought that Qin Yan really didn't want him any longer.
Qin Yan held Little Bun lovingly, "Darling, Sister is on your side all the time. It's just that this time, Sister really thinks you should go. Think about it, your grandparents only have you their precious grandson, and they clearly love you very much, but they respect your wishes and so don't dare come see you…"
The Little bun hung his head. After a long while, he nodded, "But we will go together."
Qin Yan coughed softly with embarrassment. "I can't do that…"
How could she go to Xi Ting's parents' house at such a time!
Qin Yan hurriedly coaxed him, "But Sister and your dad can send you off together! Be good! Little Xiaobao is already a five-year-old little man. You're getting better and better, and more amazing. You can definitely do this small thing, right?"
Qin Yan held the Little Bun, and kissed and coaxed him as she talked to him for half an hour. At last, the little guy relented.1
The old Xi residence stood halfway up a mountain, and occupied a large area of mountains and forests. It took over twenty minutes to drive from the front gate to the house. There were lush trees on both sides and the scenery was very beautiful.
The rumor was that the dragon vein was located here, in the feng shui jewel of the capital.
Thanks to the Little guy, she was also expanding her knowledge!
Through the window, Qin Yan saw the two Xi elders already waiting at the door, their faces full of eager anticipation, and no different from the average grandparent who doted on their grandson.
Qin Yan patted the Little Bun in her arms. "Go on! Don't forget what Sister said to you, good luck!"
Looking at the encouragement and expectation in Qin Yan's eyes, the Little Bun nodded his head resolutely, and Xi Ting took him out of the car. With every step he took, he would turn around to look at Qin Yan.
