The motive of the crime [Bonus chapter]
When Xi Jiu and his team arrived back to Mo Ran and Xi Ting, they saw that although Xi Ting had survived because of Mo Ran's treatment, Mo Ran could not. 1
Soon, the sound of the ambulance grew louder and Xi Ting was shifted to the hospital.
BACK TO THE PRESENT.
Qin Yan and Yun Jian were baffled after hearing Yu Zilong recounting the situation back then. Both of them could never imagine that Mo Ran's death was caused by a common man.
Also when Qin Yan thought about the cause that they had found, the thing common in all the victims, she realised that she was one of them, both in her previous life and in her current life.
Yun Jian sighed. She was glad that they found the reason behind Mo Ran's death and the culprit but she was sad when thinking of why Yu Zilong killed everyone.
"Although we know why you killed all these people, we have to hear it from your mouth as a confession," Yun Jian said to Yu Zilong coldly.
Yu Zilong knew that he couldn't escape anymore and thus he told everything truthfully.
Yu Zilong's son Yu Ming was five years old. In the age of going to school and playing with kids, he was cooped up in his home because of a lung problem known as Cystic fibrosis. It was a problem which could only be treated with lung transplant.
On Yu Ming's sixth birthday, he suffered a grave attack. Yu Zilong and his mother rushed to the hospital with Yu Ming. However, although Yu Ming survived, Yu Zilong was told by the doctor that the rate of his lung damage had increased rapidly.
The Yu family was told that this condition could not be cured as it was a congenital disorder. The only treatment available was a lung transplant.
However, on the organ receivers list, Yu Ming was on number five. It meant that when an organ donor died, the first on the list would get the transplant. This implied that they needed five organ donors to die for Yu Ming to get a transplant.
The doctor told the Yu family that Yu Ming needed to be cooped up at the home everytime. He should not encounter any crowd, dust or exertion.
Yu Ming also needed artificial breathing and thus an oxygen cylinder all the time. He didn't have much time to live. From one year, Yu Ming was placed on number five of the recipient's list because his blood group AB negative was extremely rare. And thus, the donors were also few.
The doctor told the Yu family that there were only five AB negative donors left. One of the donor encountered and accident and his lungs were damaged on the spot.
Mother Yu also asked the doctor if she could get the organ recipients' list. She said she would go and beg them as Yu Ming was very small and maybe they could understand that his life had just started and had a long time to go.
But the doctor rejected her as the organ recipients' list was highly classified. They were many legalities behind it and even as doctors, they didn't have any access to it. Whenever any organ came for transplant, the hospital directly contacted the recipient. It was not possible to get any information.
Yu Zilong asked the doctor how much time his son had. He was informed that his son only had a year and half to live. Hearing this, the Yu family was shattered.
After the meeting with the doctor, when Yu Zilong came out in the hospital corridor, he saw another doctor informing a patient's family that the patient was brain dead and there was no way to save him.
When Yu Zilong heard this, he tried to convince the patient's family that they should donate their father's organs as it could help others live. However, the patient's family was already downcast after hearing their father's news and thus they insulted Yu Zilong and asked him to mind his own business.
When the Yu family returned to their house, Yu Zilong was crestfallen thinking about the whole situation. But, he knew that he couldn't let his son die. The only way his son could survive was if the organ donors died.
A grave thought then emerged in his mind. As the clock struck midnight, the hospital corridors lay silent and still. Yu Zilong crept towards the hospital office, cautiously avoiding any sound that could attract attention.
With a quick check to make sure the coast was clear, he deftly picked the lock and slipped inside. The dim light of a desk lamp illuminated the room, casting long shadows on the walls.
Yu Zilong began rifling through the drawers, searching for something specific. Suddenly, a noise from outside caused the figure to freeze. Heart racing, he hastily grabbed the AB negative organ donors list and made a quick exit, disappearing back into the shadows of the deserted hospital.
The next day, Yu Zilong drove to his warehouse where he researched everything about organ donation and receipt.
[How long will a brain-dead's organs keep working?]
[Understanding brain death]
[Role of police in brain death related organ donation]
He came to know that heart and lungs must be transplanted within 4 to 6 hours of retrieval.
He also researched about the causes of brain death. The results also showed that if a person's body underwent autopsy, the organ donation was not possible as most of the tissues would be damaged.
Also in the cases of emergency, the donor should be taken to the nearest hospital immediately, so that the pledged organs could be extracted in time.
All the murders committed by Yu Zilong were thus based on his research. Mo Ran's body also was immediately transported to the hospital as the ambulance arrived for Xi Ting.
Yu Zilong had waited for Fu Yingze to call the ambulance before smashing his head with a rock.
Hua Chun's death was immediately discovered by the pizza delivery boy and Gu Yinglei died in the hospital itself. All the deaths were discovered immediately and the organ transplants were possible.
Yu Zilong had planned everything meticulously.
