Everybody against her

Nei Yehai frowned and stared at his own sister, "Shut up."1

This Nei Mianmian had really been too pampered and was just shooting her mouth off. She was already out of control.

Nei Mianmian said, "You can ask the rest if you don't believe me. Didn't you all see her push me down?"

Nei Yehai immediately looked at the people behind him. Those who followed behind only knew Nei Mianmian. There were also a lot of them who admired Nei Mianmian's title as the number one socialite. Furthermore, Qin Yan was indeed of no background while Nei Mianmian was the young mistress of the Nei family. She could easily get whatever she desired.

They naturally thought in their hearts that Nei Mianmian had no need to make life difficult for Qin Yan.

One of them said, "We did see Qin Yan struggling with Nei Mianmian and then pushing her down."

He spoke the truth as he saw it. However, whatever happened before was unknown to any of them.

Nei Mianmian became even more outraged and looked at Qin Yan, "What do you have to say for yourself now?"

Qin Yan felt extremely furious and looked at the surrounding crowd, "All of you only saw me push her. However, you guys were so far away. Are you even sure that you saw exactly what just happened?"

Some of them felt guilty upon facing Qin Yan's questioning. However, under the influence of the Nei family, their hearts would naturally still pledge allegiance to the Nei family.

Someone then said, "We all know Mianmian's character. She has been in capital City for so many years and graced countless events. Why would she bother to fight with you?"

"Exactly. Miss Mianmian gets everything she wants. She wouldn't need to be at odds with you."

"And Miss Mianmian has been spoiled since she was young. She definitely wouldn't be able to win in a fight against you."

"That's right. Miss Mianmian has always been so well-mannered. Why would she lie? She wouldn't be so rough as to get physical with you."

Qin Yan heard this and was bewildered. Because Nei Mianmian had power and authority, whatever she did was right.

Qin Yan looked at the crowd coldly, "Everything should be based on evidence. What evidence do you guys have to prove that I was at fault?"

Everyone was stumbled at that moment. They were too far away and indeed couldn't see what exactly happened between them.

Qin Yan said, "You guys said that she has no reason to fight me. What reason would I have to fight her then?"

Nei Mianmian's eyes darkened. She looked at Qin Yan, not expecting her to be so brazen. Qin Yan dared to oppose her so directly and even dared to say such a rebuttal to so many people protecting her.

Nei Mianmian said, "It's because I told you that I had a history with Xi Ting. You think that my relationship with Ah Ting is too intimate, so you're jealous of me and want to drown me."

Everybody heard this and then turned to Qin Yan, waiting for what else she had to say for herself.

Qin Yan scoffed coldly, "You'd better get this clear. I'm jealous of you? Why do I have to be jealous of you? The one beside Xi Ting right now isn't you. It's me!"

Nei Mianmian's complexion immediately became rigid. Qin Yan's words seemed to have directly hit her where it hurt.

Nei Mianmian was furious inside, but she still cried with frailty on the outside and said, "Yes, yes. Of course, I'm jealous of you. Why would I need to be jealous of you? If there's no Xi Ting, does that mean no one else wants me? Even without a man, is my Nei family unable to provide for me?"

Everyone heard this and agreed. Nei Mianmian did not have to go to such lengths just for a man.

Someone then said to Qin Yan, "The one who is jealous is definitely you. You can only rely on Young Master Xi and that's why you're so sensitive. Miss Mianmian is different. She doesn't need to be so sensitive."

"That's right. Furthermore, how can Miss Mianmian possibly be jealous of you? You must have realized that you can't compare to Miss Mianmian and you are worried about being replaced by her one day. That's why you're jealous."

Qin Yan felt extremely speechless.

At this moment, Nei Yehai was frowning at the back, "Enough. Let's stop here."

After staring at all the blabbermouths, he looked towards Qin Yan and said, "Let's forget about it. Regardless of the facts, she was the one to fall into the lake. This can also be taken as a form of punishment for her. Let us head back. Ah Ting is still waiting for us."

Qin Yan looked at Nei Yehai. Although he did not outrightly protect his own sister, she still felt that he allowed this story to be twisted.

Nei Yehai simply didn't want to show any friction between the Nei and Xi families in front of so many people and become the laughing stock.

Furthermore, Nei Mianmian was indeed his little sister. He couldn't possibly side with Qin Yan and make people think that the Nei family was humbling themselves to the Xi family.

Just then, someone asked from behind, "What's wrong?"

A few of them heard the voice and immediately turned their heads. Seeing Xi Ting walking over, a few of them looked back at Nei Mianmian.

Qin Yan saw that Xi Ting was here and she quickly looked up at him.

Before she could say anything, Nei Mianmian was already whining from behind, "Xi Ting, did you see what your Qin Yan has done? She pushed me into the water and even said that she wanted to drown me."

Qin Yan asked in surprise, "What did you say? Since when did I say that I wanted to drown you?"

Nei Mianmian looked at Qin Yan and bit her lower lip, "You didn't say it? You said it just now. Now that Ah Ting is here, I knew you wouldn't admit it. But everybody saw that you pushed me into the water. You can't deny that, right?"

"Yes, yes. Everybody saw it."

"Indeed, we all saw Miss Mianmian get pushed into the water by Qin Yan."

Qin Yan couldn't believe that there were such ridiculous people on Earth. They could tell lies and even make it sound like the truth.

She did push Nei Mianmian into the water, but that was because she was retaliating. She didn't push her on purpose at all.

She looked up, "Xi Ting, I…"

Xi Ting narrowed his eyes and swept across the people in front of him. The crowd couldn't tell anything from his cold expression. They could never understand what exactly Xi Ting was thinking about.

Xi Ting only looked past them and turn to Qin Yan. When he lowered his head to face her, his expression warmed up very obviously. Even though he still didn't have any expression, his gaze was somehow gentler.

"Tell me what happened?"

Qin Yan said, "I was just taking a walk here and I saw Nei Mianmian talking to someone."

She looked at Nei Mianmian. Nei Mianmian's eyes flashed as she stared intently at Qin Yan. She wasn't worried about what Qin Yan would say. Anyway, she had already instructed the Nei family's maids to get rid of the horse quickly and they must have already finished by now. There would be no trace left behind.

Qin Yan had no evidence. What else could she say? Even if Qin Yan said it, she wouldn't admit it either.

Qin Yan's eyes looked deeply at Nei Mianmian. She then looked up at Xi Ting and continued, "I was just taking a walk when Nei Mianmian suddenly came over. She dragged me towards the water and wanted to push me in. I could only retaliate. She wasn't as strong as me, so I pushed her into the water."

"Nonsense, I never wanted to push you at all. I just wanted to greet you," Nei Mianmian was still lying through her teeth.

Xi Ting narrowed his eyes and looked at Qin Yan. He looked at Nei Mianmian who was in a sorry state and then at the unyielding Qin Yan.

Everybody behind was all siding with Nei Mianmian and continuously claimed that they saw Qin Yan push Nei Mianmian.

But Xi Ting suddenly took Qin Yan's hand and announced calmly to the crowd, "I believe Yan Yan is telling the truth."

The crowd stumbled.

Nei Mianmian looked furiously at Xi Ting, "Why do you trust her? She is lying, Ah Ting!"

Xi Ting looked at Nei Mianmian, "What's wrong? Why can't I trust her?"

"…" The crowd looked at him in astonishment.

Xi Ting held on to Qin Yan's hand tightly while he looked at the crowd, "I believe that my Yan Yan is not the kind of person to commit such actions. Even if she did push someone, there must be a reason behind it."
