Meeting again

Qin Yan left with Xi Ting. As they were walking out, Qin Yan looked up cautiously at Xi Ting, "Is it alright for you to say all those just now? You won't anger the Nie family, right?"2

Xi Ting replied, "The Nie family is not a bunch of fools. They can distinguish the right and the wrong."

"They wouldn't fall out with you, right?"

"Not a chance."

Qin Yan speechlessly said, "You are really… Don't be so domineering next time. It won't do you good. What if you fall out…"

Xi Ting said proudly, "Do you think that I'd do something unreliable? And anyway, you won't let me do it, right?"

Qin Yan blushed, "True."

She still looked at Xi Ting, "But do you really trust me that much? Even without the recording, you supported me unconditionally. Do you really think that I wouldn't push her down for no reason?"

"That's right."

"But what if I was actually a bad woman? What if I did it on purpose and then pretended to be innocent in front of you?" Qin Yan asked.

Xi Ting looked closely at Qin Yan, sighed, and then said, "I know you from two lifetimes. I know you won't use your smartness for playing such tricks."

Qin Yan's heart moved, "What if there really was evidence proving that I did something bad?"

"Then that evidence must be fake too."

"You would still believe me unconditionally?"

"That's right."

Qin Yan's heart was filled with warmth. She looked at Xi Ting and then reached out to grab his arm. She smiled from ear to ear as she walked on with him.

Xi Ting smiled as he watched her run over to him. He put an arm around her and said, "Come on. I'll get you your favourite horse."

"Is it a gift from you?" Qin Yan smiled sheepishly with greediness all over her face.

Xi Ting replied, "Yes, what's mine is yours."

"Oh my, don't say that. You have so much money and if it's all mine, I'd be too distressed," Qin Yan said.

"Distressed over what?"

"Distressed over me dying before I can spend all the money. I would be dying for nothing."

"You are saying as if you can spend all your money in this life."

"I can, I don't have much."

"Really? Do I need to remind you how much you earn?"

"Okay, okay..Let this matter rest. Get me the horse."

Xi Ting laughed as he lifted Qin Yan up.

Qin Yan yelped, "Put me down, put me down. It's going to be so embarrassing if anyone sees us."

"It's okay. Let them see. What's wrong with carrying my own girlfriend?"

In actual fact, the people outside were really looking at them.

Nei Mianmian watched from a distance as Xi Ting carried Qin Yan and spun around in the field.

Xi Ting was so tall that he looked like he was carrying a doll when he carried Qin Yan. Qin Yan laughed loudly as her face beamed. That scene looked like they were in a painting.

Nei Mianmian was enraged. Not only did she fail to run down Qin Yan, but Qin Yan was also even in the mood to enjoy Xi Ting's embrace and mightiness. Seriously…

Xi Ting only wanted to cheer Qin Yan up today. He didn't like anything that could make Qin Yan unhappy. He thus bought the horse for Qin Yan and then left with her.

In the Qiao villa.

The hall was adorned with exquisite decorations, featuring gilded walls and chandeliers that casted a warm, golden glow upon the room. The air was filled with the tantalizing aroma of freshly cooked delicacies, and soft music played in the background, adding to the ambiance of the evening.

The tables were draped in a rich, crimson tablecloth that pooled elegantly on the floor. Fine china, crystal glassware, and polished silverware were meticulously arranged, twinkling in the soft light. Centerpieces of elaborate floral arrangements, with roses and lilies in full bloom, added a touch of natural beauty to the setting.

The sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and applause filled the room, creating an atmosphere of merriment and joy.

As the lively music thumped through the air, and colorful lights danced around the room, Qiao Qing sat huddled in the corner of the party.

She wore a simple outfit, her shoulders hunched, and her arms tightly wrapped around her body, as if trying to shield herself from the attention of others.

Although it was a party thrown by her parents, she was not relieved of the mean remarks passed by people because of the birthmark on her face.

Her eyes darted nervously around the room, but she couldn't bring herself to make eye contact with anyone. She fidgeted with her hair, twirling a loose strand around her finger, a telltale sign of her unease. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, and her brows were furrowed with worry, as if she was constantly second-guessing herself.

As groups of people laughed and chatted, she sat there in silence, feeling like an outsider. She watched as friends posed for photos, couples danced, and strangers mingled with ease, while she remained stuck in her corner, feeling invisible and overlooked.

In fact, she didn't want to be noticed. What if anybody noticed her? Wouldn't she get to feel ashamed of her face? What good would it do her? People would scrunch their faces in disgust seeing her.

She couldn't help but envy those who exuded confidence and effortlessly navigated social situations. She longed to be like them, to feel comfortable in her own skin, and to enjoy the party like everyone else.

As Qiao Qing huddled in the corner, the door of the ballroom swung open once again. All eyes turned towards the entrance as a cheerful and dignified man made his way inside.

He moved with grace and poise, his steps measured and confident. As he entered the room, a hush fell over the crowd. The guests, dressed in their finest evening gowns and suits, were captivated by his striking appearance. His smooth, flawless skin was complemented by his chiseled jawline and high cheekbones, which gave him a regal aura. His dark hair was swept back in a sleek style, revealing his sharp, almond-shaped eyes that twinkled with warmth and intelligence. A subtle smile played on his lips, exuding charm and friendliness.

Jia Yuze exuded an air of serenity and elegance as he glided across the room. He greeted those around him with a polite nod or a gracious bow, radiating an aura of approachability that made him instantly likable. His gestures were refined, and his movements were fluid, almost as if he was dancing to a hidden rhythm.

As he mingled with the guests, his presence seemed to light up the room. People were drawn to him, eager to engage in conversation and be in his company. He exuded a gentle charisma that made everyone feel at ease, and his genuine interest in others made each person feel valued and appreciated.

As Jia Yuze came into the hall, Qiao Qing's eyes locked onto him. It was him - her life savior. A surge of gratitude and relief washed over her.

Qiao Qing's heart skipped a beat, and she felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. She took a hesitant step forward, then paused, her doubts overwhelming her.

Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. She was torn between her desire to express her gratitude and her fear of falling short. Her throat felt tight, and her eyes filled with tears as she struggled to find the courage to approach her life savior.

'Would he remember me? He must not have a good impression of me..What if I thank him but he doesn't remember me?' All sorts of thoughts wandered in Qiao Qing's mind.

She stood there for a moment, her internal battle raging, unsure of what to do. Her heart urged her to go forward, while her doubts held her back. The bustling banquet hall seemed to fade into the background as she wrestled with her emotions.

Finally, taking a deep breath, Qiao Qing summoned her courage. She reminded herself that her life savior deserved to know the impact they had on her life, no matter how inadequate her words might feel. With a determined resolve, she took a step forward, and then another, until she was standing in front of her life savior.

As Qiao Qing approached Jia Yuze, a small group of onlookers gathered, curious to see what would unfold. Whispers and giggles spread among them as they observed the scene.

Jia Yuze turned to Qiao Qing with a polite smile. Qiao Qing stammered as she tried to strike up a conversation, stumbling over her words and avoiding eye contact. Her gestures were uncertain, and her voice barely above a whisper, making it difficult for the him to hear her.

"Hello," Qiao Qing whispered, her voice barely above a whisper, "Do you remember me?"

Jia Yuze smiled at Qiao Qing, "Of course!"
