The DNA test results
Watching Yu Qianjiang shut Shangguan Cheng up with one sentence, Chu Tong was surprised.1
"Cut! NG!"
Shi Huan's voice rang out again with exasperation, "Qin Muran, I've told you, it's worship and admiration! She's not your family enemy! Show some professionalism!"
Qin Muran's face instantly turned red with anger and shame. She was so angry that she gritted her teeth. It was so humiliating! After several more tries, they finally finished the scene.
Shi Huan sat in front of the screen and shook his head, "Forget it, I can't be too picky. Let's just get by!"
This comment almost made Qin Muran explode. This was just getting by?
After two days of shooting, Qin Muran almost died from anger. In fact, she and Jiang Xun did not have many encounters. After all, they were shooting in the villa, and the two of them only had two or three scenes together. Still, the few encounters still gave Qin Muran unpleasant memories.
Especially since every time the two of them were in the same frame, Shi Huan ended up scolding her. As for Jiang Xun, she was the object of praise! She was scolded and someone else was praised; it became a constant routine!
The crew and actors on the scene all knew that Jiang Xun's acting skills were good, while Qin Muran's acting skills had many faults.
Qin Muran's acting skills weren't that bad. However, in contrast to Jiang Xun's perfect performance, Qin Muran's shortcomings became very obvious.
As she listened to the whispers of others, Qin Muran became so angry that her eyes turned red, and she walked faster and faster as she quickly returned to her room and closed the door with a bang.

On the other side.
The soft glow of a bedside lamp cast a warm, soothing ambiance in the dimly lit room. Qin Yan sat on the edge of a cozy twin-sized bed adorned with a colorful quilt, while Xi Xiaobao, nestled beneath the covers.
Fifteen days had passed since the harrowing incident where the little guy had been poisoned, and the once-pale cheeks of the young boy had regained their rosy hue. His eyes, once dull with sickness, now sparkled with life and vigor. Qin Yan had been through a rollercoaster of emotions during that time, but tonight, there was only love and relief in her heart.
Qin Yan's gentle hands smoothed the covers over the little bun, ensuring that he was snug and comfortable. She leaned down, her loving eyes locked onto the little bun's, and she brushed a stray lock of hair from his forehead. She couldn't shake the memory of those harrowing days when the little guy had been battling the effects of the poison. The sleepless nights, the constant worry, and the desperate prayers had taken their toll on her, but now, seeing him nestled peacefully under his cozy blanket, her heart swelled with gratitude.
Xi Xiaobao, despite his young age, had displayed incredible resilience during his recovery. His big, round eyes sparkled with the innocence of childhood, and he was now enjoying the extra attention and care that his Aunty Yan was showering upon him.
Qin Yan gently whispered a lullaby, her voice soft and soothing, as she caressed the little bun's cheek. Little Xiaobao smiled, a hint of dimples appearing on his cherubic face. His little hand reached out to hold onto Qin Yan's, as if afraid that she might disappear if he let go.
Qin Yan then leaned down, her lips brushing against Xi Xiaobao's forehead in a sweet goodnight kiss, eliciting a contented smile from the little boy.
"Goodnight, my brave little darling," she whispered, her voice carrying a melody of love and reassurance.
The little bun, his small frame wrapped in pajamas adorned with Qin Yan's favorite cartoon characters, looked up at Qin Yan with adoration in his eyes. His voice was soft and filled with innocence as he replied, "Goodnight, Aunty Yan. I love you."
In this serene moment, as Qin Yan watched her son drift into peaceful sleep, her heart overflowed with love and affection for him. She pulled up the covers to his chin, ensuring he was snug and warm, just like the cocoon of her love around him. She knew that his ordeal had left her with a newfound appreciation for every precious moment spent with her baby, and she intended to cherish them all.
After Qin Yan had put the little guy to sleep, she quietly tiptoed out of the room, leaving her baby in peaceful slumber. As she left the room, the smile on her face got replaced by seriousness. She made her way down the hallway to the study room where Xi Ting was engrossed in his work.
In the study room, Xi Ting was hunched over his desk, surrounded by books, papers, and the soft hum of a computer.
Qin Yan gently pushed open the door, revealing herself in the doorway. Xi Ting looked up from his work, his eyes meeting hers. When he saw the serious expression on Qin Yan's face, Xi Ting put down his work and looked at Qin Yan, "What's the matter?"
Qin Yan sighed before turning to Xi Ting with a worried expression and expressing the thoughts that had been bothering her for some time, "Ah Ting, it's been over a month since we took the DNA test in Country M, and we still haven't heard anything from Han Cheng about the results. Have you received any call from him today?"
Xi Ting, equally concerned, shook his head, "No, Yan Yan. There hasn't been any call from Han Cheng. It's unusual for him to keep us waiting like this, especially considering the significance of the test."
The uncertainty hung in the air, and the couple exchanged a glance filled with shared concern. They had embarked on this journey to uncover a potential family secret, and the waiting had become increasingly difficult.
Because of the poisoning incident, they had temporarily neglected the matter but now that the little guy was fine, their attention was drawn back to this matter. In normal circumstances, they should have received the call from Han Cheng till now, but since they hadn't, there was definitely something wrong.
"Ah Ting," Qin Yan looked at Xi Ting with determination in her eyes, "I think we should call Han Cheng tomorrow. It's been over a month, and the uncertainty is starting to get to me. We need to know the results of that DNA test."
Xi Ting, understanding the gravity of the situation and the toll it was taking on his cookie, nodded in agreement, "You're right, Yan Yan. It's time we reach out to Han Cheng and find out what's going on."
Qin Yan knew that making that call might lead to answers that would change their lives forever, but the uncertainty was becoming too much to bear.

The next day, Xi Ting picked up his phone and dialed Han Cheng's number. As he listened to the dial tone, he couldn't help but wonder what the conversation would bring – clarity or further uncertainty.
After a few rings, Han Cheng's voice came through the line, "Hello?"
Xi Ting cleared his throat and came straight to the point, "Mr. Han, it's been over a month since we took the DNA test in Country M. We haven't received any updates on the results from you guys. I would like to know what happened."
There was a silence on the other end of the line, and Xi Ting could sense the gravity of the situation. He waited anxiously for Han Cheng's response, hoping for the clarity they so desperately sought.
Xi Ting's voice was calm as he waited for Han Cheng's response. His thoughts were consumed by the possibility of what the DNA test results might reveal. The silence on the other end of the line stretched, and then Han Cheng's words pierced through the stillness.
Xi Ting's eyes widened slightly, his grip on the phone tightening involuntarily. He had not expected this outcome, and the results left him momentarily speechless.
However, he soon came back to his senses. His phone rang with a sound of an incoming notification. When he opened it, the results of the DNA tests were in front of him. Seeing this, Xi Ting knew that he couldn't keep this thing from Qin Yan.
He made his way to their shared living room, where Qin Yan was sitting, her eyes filled with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. Her gaze met his as he entered the room, and she could sense something was amiss.
Xi Ting took a deep breath and sat down beside her. His voice was soft but steady as he began to speak, "Yan Yan, I had a conversation with Han Cheng today about the DNA test results."
He then handed over his phone displaying the results to Qin Yan, "Look for yourself."
Qin Yan took a look and her eyes focused on the final identification results.
The results of the two samples were...
NEGATIVE.
