At the mention of Xia Wen, Xia Zhe noted the seriousness of the matter. He slowly placed the two children onto their small bed and waited for them to fall asleep before asking Feng Hua to come into the room to take care of them. The three of them then went to the study next door to have a meeting.2

"What is it that I can't solve and need my eldest brother to step in? Tell me about it," Xia Zhe asked.

"Zheng Peng is under house arrest at home because the family found out about his relationship with Qian'e and their plan to get married. Old Master Zheng totally objects to this marriage. Zheng Peng is now on a hunger strike and refuses to eat at all. Isn't this the kind of thing that your eldest brother is best at resolving?" Zhuang Hua said.

For a moment, Xia Zhe was at a loss for words. He was one of Zheng Su's students and he knew Zheng Su's character very well. To put it nicely, he was a principled man. To put it bluntly, he was chauvinistic and very domineering.

Zheng Su always wanted everyone to go along with his arrangements. At home, Zheng Su ran his household like an army unit. He viewed Sun Dai, Zheng Peng and Zheng Yuan as his subordinates and needed them to do whatever he said, as if whatever he wanted to do was always the right thing.

Back then, when Xia Zhe did not become a couple with Zheng Yuan, Zheng Su was very unhappy about it. On the surface, Zheng Su seemed to have forgiven Xia Zhe, but in reality, Zheng Su had not contacted Xia Zhe since then. In the past, he would ask Xia Zhe to come to his house during the festive seasons. Now, he did not even speak to Xia Zhe.

This current issue with Zheng Peng was probably the result of accumulative feelings over the years blowing up, exacerbated by those nasty issues which happened in the past. "Instead of asking my eldest brother, it might be better to wait for my wife to come back and ask her to think of a way. After all, she's the couple's matchmaker," Xia Zhe said.

"Sister-in-law just gave birth, yet you still want to let her worry about our issues," Zhuang Hua said embarrassedly.

Xia Zhe did not know how to explain to Zhuang Hua that Qiao Mei was in a very good condition now. The moment Qiao Mei heard from Xia Fang the day before yesterday that she was allowed to eat some meat, she immediately became excited and made a table full of meat dishes!

All of them ate so much that they felt like throwing up, but Qiao Mei remained very excited. In the end, they really could not take it anymore, so they had to discuss with her to see if they could reduce their intake of meat and eat more vegetables.
