Scarlet of Fallen Vengeance

Her gaze was drawn to the woman in the center of the nightclub. She was dressed in a red skintight dress that hugged her figure and danced in the most seductive way possible.

Jiang Yue, who had no intention of drinking even a small amount of wine, couldn't help but take a sip while watching the woman dance.

She hadn't expected to see Xu Wuying— or what everyone knew her as 'Scarlet' of Fallen Vengeance.

Xu Wuying was an assassin from the guild of Fallen Vengeance.

Fallen Vengeance began with only two individuals who were driven by a desire for power and vengeance— she and Xu Wuying.

They took it upon themselves to establish an organization that specialized in assassination. It began as a small, hidden gang, operating in the shadows, but as their reputation rose, so did their influence.

Probably because her gaze was too intense, Xu Wuying who was busy grinding her body with a man, turned towards her table.

Despite the nightclub's dim light, Jiang Yue was certain the woman had noticed her since she had abruptly stopped dancing, prompting a frown from her dance partner.

Jiang Yue placed the glass on the table as she crossed her arms on her chest when she saw the woman approach her table.

When Xu Wuying came closer to her and was just a few steps in front of her, the woman stopped and Jiang Yue couldn't help but raise her brow when she noticed her stunned expression.

"Didn't expect to see you here," Jiang Yue remarked, prompting Xu Wuying to snap back to reality when she heard her words.

Xu Wuying immediately closed the distance between the two of them as she sat next to Jiang Yue and hugged the girl, "Fuck, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! It was a good thing I came closer or else I wouldn't have seen you again."

Jiang Yue's corner of her lips perk up as she hugged the woman back, "I was planning to approach you anyway, who would have thought you'd beat me to it."

Xu Wuying let go and distanced herself a bit as the two were too close, "What are you even doing here? How have you been? Shit— I have a lot of questions right now that I don't even know where to start," she said anxiously, and Jiang Yue couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"I should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here? Are you here for a mission?" Jiang Yue asked.

Xu Wuying grabbed Jiang Yue's glass of wine and drank it in one drink before answering, "Hell yeah, someone got me to assassinate some young master for a huge sum, so, of course, I had to take it," Xu Wuying replied, before questioning the girl, "How about you? Are you here to assassinate someone? When are you coming back to the guild?"

"Oh, I'm just here to collect some information about someone," Jiang Yue replied, "I don't know yet, I have too much on my plate right now, and classes will resume next month."

The corner of Xu Wuying's eyes couldn't help but twitch, "You're taking fucking classes? What had gotten into you? I never would have expected that I'll hear those words from you."

"I'm still eighteen, what do you expect me to do?" Jiang Yue replied sarcastically.

Xu Wuying sneered, "I didn't hear you say that when you were thirteen and beat the shit out of Black Mamba."

Jiang Yue pursed her lips as she didn't expect the woman to bring up that person.

Black Mamba was a renowned name in the world of assassins and he was a member of Alpha Assault, one of the most dangerous and feared group of assassins in the country.

Jiang Yue didn't create Fallen Vengeance just because she felt like doing so one day.

At the age of 11, when she was already under the guidance of Sun Guang after she had learned everything about hacking and known about what truly happened to Ying Wei, she at that time was desperate to expand her power and influence, and she had gotten to know about these assassin guilds that are experienced in killing high-profile political figures and influential business leaders so she joined one— the Alpha Assault.

She was the youngest and smallest of them all, which made the other assassins dismiss her; yet, Jiang Yue proved herself in months.

She began at the bottom and worked her way up by challenging renowned assassins to a duel, which at the time was what determined an assassin's rank. Black Mamba, the second-in-command of Alpha Assault's founder, was among them.

After that duel, the other assassins had given her the name 'Shadow' as she moves through the shadows like a ghost and it didn't take long for the mere mention of that name to strike dread into the hearts of those who heard it. Her identity as an assassin remains a secret, shrouded among whispers and suspicions, an enigma cloaked in darkness.

However, she, who proved herself too much, was still betrayed in the end.

Jiang Yue remembered Sunshine's words and so she remarked, "People changed, and so are their goals in life."

"Well mine didn't— then does that mean you're not planning to go back to Fallen Vengeance anymore?"

"I didn't say I won't, I said I don't know."

"Because you said that people change and so do their goals, I assumed you didn't want to return to our guild."

"Oh, my goal hasn't changed. I'm still looking for those who harmed my family."

"Then why in the fuck did you say those words?"

Jiang Yue shrugged, "It just feels right."

Wu Xuying rolled her eyes, "You still haven't changed."

"You hadn't either. Do you still use this trick to kill your targets?" Jiang Yue asked, her gaze shifting from the woman's face to her crimson high heels studded with glittering gemstones.

It wasn't the first time she'd seen this woman use her appealing appearance to kill her victims.

Witnessing the expression Jiang Yue was giving her, Xu Wuying exclaimed, "What? I get to have fun and kill my target, so why shouldn't I? I should be the one who questions you— I mean, look at you! And here I thought I would die without seeing you use this trick!"

"I'm not killing anyone, I'm just going to extract some information."

"You used yourself to get them to fall into your hands, so it's still the same thing."

"That doesn't sound right," Jiang Yue pursed her lips.

"It sounds right to me!"

"You're alone right now?" Jiang Yue remarked, changing the subject, "Where's Ethan?"

The grin on Xu Wuying's face vanished with her question, forcing Jiang Yue to raise her brow, as she hadn't expected such a reaction from her.

Xu Wuying and Ethan have always been a team since they met, and neither will accept a mission unless the other agrees. Xu Wuying had blood on her hands because she was the one who kills their target. Ethan, on the other hand, was the one who planned everything and ensured that nothing went wrong when they were on a mission.

He was just like her— a hacker.

Ethan was Xu Wuying's right hand.

"What else? It just made me realize that I shouldn't trust anyone," Xu Wuying said in a low, menacing tone, and Jiang Yue's eyes grew colder at the woman's remarks.

The woman, like her, was an assassin from Alpha Assault who was betrayed and nearly killed. As a result, the two of them founded their organization, which was notorious for strictly adhering to a code of conduct, with each member committed to utmost secrecy and obedience.

The guild's operations and reach expanded in line with its notoriety. They began to take on more elaborate and complex missions, requiring a team of their most trained assassins. The Guild's success was owed in part to their ruthlessness, but it was also due to their meticulous preparation and precise execution of every operation.

Fallen Vengeance established itself as a fearsome and respected force.

'Ethan betrayed Xu Wuying?'

Jiang Yue's mind couldn't wrap around these words as it just sounds too impossible.

"What happened?" Jiang Yue asked.

Xu Wuying called out for a waitress to fill Jiang Yue's glass of wine, then she explained, "That's why you should really go back. Fallen Vengeance is now a mess. You know we didn't create any of those rankings to avoid disorder in our guild and we assign positions instead based on a person's skill. When you left, of course, it was left to me to manage the guild. But who would have thought that Ethan was against all these rules that we've made to keep everything in peace? He along with the council decided to change everything and now it's all fucked up."

Jiang Yue's fingers tapped on her skin as she listened to the woman's words.

She had never expected something like this to happen.

She thought that even if she left, Fallen Vengeance would continue to thrive but who would have thought that in her absence everything went a downward spiral instead?

"So that's why you're alone here?" Jiang Yue asked.

Xu Wuying nodded, "Made me realize that it's so much better alone."  2

"Once I've settled my matter, let's return Fallen Vengeance to what it once was," Jiang Yue promised, prompting the woman in front of her to smirk.

"Sure, then I'll wait for that day."
