Shadow and Scarlet on the move
"He's still breathing," Jiang Yue stated looking at Tang Shuren who was laying on the floor gasping, "You know it's a rule in Fallen Vengeance that an assassin should never leave their target unless they ceased breathing."
Xu Wuying turned to look at the man and merely shrugged, "That rule was already removed by Ethan now, so we accept missions like this. My client told me to just slash open his neck and then leave him to bleed to his death, that was his condition. He or she probably wants Tang Shuren to suffer before he dies."
Jiang Yue pursed her lips and couldn't help but say, "If you pressed the knife too deep then I don't think he'd suffer the way you want him to be, as he'll die in less than five minutes."
"It wasn't too deep for him to die that fast. I controlled my strength and it was just enough to bleed him to death, probably around less than 15 minutes." Xu Wuying replied then put the small knife on the holster on her inner thigh.
Jiang Yue nodded then stood up.
However, there was a sudden knock on the door, stopping the two in their places.
Xu Wuying seeing the girl's furrowed brows, said, "It's probably just room service."
"I don't think it's room service," Jiang Yue uttered, and just as she said those words, the door knob joggled a few times indicating that someone was trying to open the door.
She looked around the room, then grabbed Xu Wuying and went to the bedroom.
It was a large room with a big bed in the middle. Jiang Yue went to the floor-to-ceiling window and tried to open it, trying to find any other way out, however, the window can't be opened.
"What are we doing? We could just fight them," Xu Wuying grumbled as she looked at Jiang Yue who was now looking around the room and opening the drawers on the bedside table.
"No, we can't. I heard footsteps of around 7 to 10 people a while ago, it must have been them. We don't have any weapons on us right now and they might have guns. It's too much of a risk," she explained with a solemn voice.
She doesn't plan on dying in the hotel or anywhere else.
"Let's try to leave through the window but there's too much of a gap from our floor to the lower one."
Xu Wuying immediately understood what she meant and helped the girl with the comforter.
A loud bang could be heard, and both of them could guess that it was probably those people still trying to get in.
However, Jiang Yue suddenly remembered something.
"Give me the knife," she asked and Xu Wuying right away grabbed the knife from her inner thigh and gave it to the girl.
Jiang Yue went back to the living room holding the knife in her hand, she went back to where they left Tang Shuren and seeing the man slowly crawl towards the door, she stepped on his back then stabbed his neck, killing him instantly.
She knows that with Tang Shuren's condition, there was a high possibility he would be saved and survived with the help of those people who are trying to enter the room.
There was no way she was going to allow that.
Any assassin of Fallen Vengeance was trained to kill their targets in the first attempt and anyone who failed to do so would immediately be removed as a member. Although she's not sure if this rule still applies in their organization, she can't allow Xu Wuying to make the mistake of failing to kill her target on the first attempt.
It was considered a humiliation to anyone in Fallen Vengeance.
Jiang Yue went back to the bedroom and just as she was about to break the glass with something she'd grabbed from the living room, the sound of the door being roughly opened could be heard.
She immediately turned off the lights in the bedroom and silently walked to Xu Wuying.
"We can't leave," she whispered to the woman with gritted teeth, "So let's fight them."
Xu Wuying immediately understood and nodded. They silently walked to the door where it was slightly open, the light from the living room and the sound of several people's footsteps seeping into the bedroom.
Each one of them took the side of the door, waiting for people to enter the bedroom.
Jiang Yue this time was sure about the number of people— eight.
Her hold on the small knife tightened as she sent a look towards Xu Wuying who understood it right away.
"He's already dead," A voice can be heard saying from the living room, "We were too late."
"Did he bleed to death?"
It was silent for a few seconds before another voice replied, "No. There are two wounds on his neck. One was a long slash along his neck but wasn't deep enough to kill him instantly, the second was a direct stab on a critical point in his neck, I think that's what killed him."
"Get the other half of the team waiting outside the hotel to take notice of a woman wearing a red dress. She might not have left the hotel yet if she delivered that last stab at Tang Shuren. I was checking his vital signs when we entered the hotel, and his heart was still beating."
Footsteps could be heard drawing away from the living room, and Jiang Yue could guess that two people had decided to go out.
Now only 6 people are remaining in the living room.
"Shi San Jing, what should we do now? It was Boss' strict orders to protect Tang Shuren." Another voice stated and the living room was silent for a few seconds before another man replied.
"I'll tell him about this news right away. Get someone to access the CCTV footage of the hotel. Update me immediately if you found anything. Oh, and removed the watch from Tang Shuren's wrist."
Footsteps once again could be heard, now there are only 5 people left in the room.
Jiang Yue turned to Xu Wuying who was casting worrying glances at her and motioning something with her hands.
Understanding what the woman meant she nodded her head.
Xu Wuying was asking about the CCTV footage. The woman wasn't worried about her face being seen but rather, it would give the people inside the room the information that the killer of Tang Shuren still hasn't gotten out of the hotel room.
But she already handled it when she hacked through the surveillance camera of the hotel when she was trying to find which room the two had gotten to.
So there was no need to worry about that.
However, her mind couldn't help but think about what the man had just said.
She had expected that the people outside are Tang Shuren's men, but based on their conversation, it was only an order to protect him. And she suspected Tang Shuren might not have known that someone was protecting him, cause if he did, he would have tried to stall for more time, but he didn't.
He just wanted to leave right away and accepted her offer.
But why do they need to remove the watch that Tang Shuren was wearing? And how did they get to monitor his vital signs?
Jiang Yue could remember that Tang Shuren wasn't wearing a smartwatch that could monitor his heart rate, pulse, and blood pressure.
It was a gold vintage watch.
Then does that mean the gold watch was programmed the same way a smartwatch could monitor vital signs?
This wasn't new to Jiang Yue as had made several ones similar but instead of a watch that could monitor vital signs, it would be earrings that were earpieces and necklaces that were mics.
Jiang Yue's mind was churning with different thoughts, however, footsteps could suddenly be heard walking to the bedroom, snapping her back to reality as she tightened her hold on the knife.
One man had just stepped into the bedroom, and the man hadn't even turned his head to the side when a hand suddenly grabbed his neck and plunged a knife into a critical part of his neck, killing him in just seconds.
Jiang Yue held the man so he wouldn't fall to the ground, and attract the people outside with the sound. Xu Wuying helped her and they slowly put the man on the ground and let him lean on the wall.
Jiang Yue gave the small knife to Xu Wuying and showed her the gun that she had gotten from the man.
Because the lights were turned off, Jiang Yue couldn't see what kind of gun it was, and without knowing what kind of gun and what kind of bullet it uses, she can't be sure about her precision, but once she knows, she could kill the people in the living room in just under a minute.
She tried to feel it with her hand, and her brows couldn't help but furrow when she realized that she couldn't identify what kind of gun it was.
Since they were able to make a normal-looking watch to send them vital signs of someone, then it's possible that they had improvised a gun also.
Jiang Yue stopped what she was doing when footsteps could be heard once again.
