One wrong move and it could mean the end of us

"Huh?" Xu Wuying was confused about what the girl was talking about.

"You'd be able to use the gun, fourteen of them are coming here." Jiang Yue explained then checked through the video to see where they can go without bumping into those people.

The nearest who are heading to them are three men from the fourth floor, and in less than five minutes they'd be able to reach the 5th floor emergency staircase. The other 10, they don't have to worry about them for now.

"Let's head to the 6th floor," Jiang Yue declared and took the staircase once again, but instead of going down, they were going up this time.

"Fuck, how did they know where we were?" Xu Wuying asked then followed the girl who was taking her time walking, as though there aren't people after them, "Was it that fucking watch again? If I knew this would happen then we should have just killed those motherfuckers. My knuckles hurt from punching them on their jawbone."

"The watch is more advance than I thought," Jiang Yue responded, "I think it does not send the vital signs of its wearer but the actual state of their body."

She was in awe of what the watch could do when she realized it.

A watch that could send vital signs of its wearer to others isn't enough to pique her interest, she merely took it because of the symbol at the back of the watch and the fact that it might have other uses that she does not have any idea about.

But a watch that could send the state of the wearer's body, on the other hand, made her eyes sparkle with interest.

For the watch to work, she knows that each watch was personalized to its wearer. Those men must have something on their bodies or even inside their bodies that give this signal to those watch with what is going on with their bodies.

This means the watch on her hand is useless to her if she wore it.

She can't access its other use nor can it detect what is going on with her body by just wearing it.

It was a pretty good technology.

Jiang Yue and Xu Wuying continued walking up the stairs and just as they stepped foot on the 6th floor, the three men from the 4th floor had already arrived at the emergency staircase of the 5th floor.

However, another pair of people are also going down from the 7th floor to the 6th floor using the emergency staircase.

Jiang Yue turned toward the woman beside her and said, "Give me the gun, and I'll activate the silencer for you."

Xu Wuying gave it to the girl and Jiang Yue pressed something on the grip panel. Parts of the silencer immediately went out from its muzzle, then formed where a silencer was supposed to be put.

This only happened in less than 30 seconds, much even faster when a person puts a silencer on their gun, leaving Xu Wuying in awe when she saw it.

Jiang Yue gave the gun to her back, "Try it, there are two people that will arrive here in less than two minutes."

Xu Wuying hearing those words immediately became alert and tightened her hold on the gun.

The two of them had already stopped at a blind spot where anyone going down from the 7th-floor staircase won't be able to see them.

The whole place was quiet and Xu Wuying aimed her gun and just as she did, two shadows that had moved fast were already in front of them.

Two shots were released and one of the men was shot right in the center of his forehead, killing him instantly. The other man on the other head was shot in his right chest as he was able to dodge, and because he has his gun aimed in front of him already, he moved his arm and pulled the trigger.

Everything happened in less than a minute and anyone who had seen it would be dumbfounded with how fast everything was happening.

Just as the bullet had left the muzzle of the man's gun, a bullet penetrated his skull, taking away his life and he fell to the floor, blood pouring from both of the foreheads.

Jiang Yue put down her arm and turned towards the woman.

Her brows couldn't help furrow and her expression became cold when she saw Xu Wuying's right wrist, the one that she had just used to hold the gun, was bleeding.

"Fuck, that was fucking wrong of me," Xu Wuying cursed out as she looked at the bloody wound where a bullet is still lodged on her wrist.

Jiang Yue turned to look at her phone to see where the other men are now.

The nearest to them were the three people on the 5th floor, while the others are still rushing from other floors. Another three people that had been on the 2nd floor are now going up and now around the 3rd floor.

"Let's go, let's deal with your wound on the way," Jiang Yue uttered and the two of them continued walking. They opened the door that leads to the hallways of the hotel and stopped using the emergency staircase.

"Wait here," She stated and stopped in one of the hotel rooms. She kicked it open, and the door that had been locked opened instantly. She went inside and grabbed the medical supply that the hotel room has just in case of an emergency.

"Did it hit a vein?" Jiang Yue asked, however, she doesn't need to hear Xu Wuying's answer to know that the bullet had indeed hit a vein on the woman's wrist as she could see that she is experiencing significant blood loss, causing her whole hand to be soaked with blood.

The two of them continued walking.

Xu Wuying was holding the medical supplies with her other hand while she grabbed the wounded one that she had put on her dress so the blood won't drip to the floor, but because her dress was the color of deep red, the blood soaking to the fabric wasn't noticeable.

"Yeah, it won't cause permanent weakness in my wrist, right?" Xu Wuying questioned with a bit of anxiousness in her tone.

It was her dominant hand, and in everything she does, she uses her right hand, be it holding a knife or holding a gun. If her wrist weakened, then it's equivalent to any runner who lost their legs— it would be the end of her as an assassin.

Jiang Yue pursed her lips as she knew what her friend was worrying about, she then responded, "No, don't worry, I won't let that happen to you."

Xu Wuying sighed out of relief.

Jiang Yue continued, "It was wrong of me to let you handle it alone. I thought your reaction time had gotten better all these years."

The woman's eyes narrowed, "Are you feeling bad right now and apologizing, or just want to shove it down my throat how slow I am?"

Jiang Yue put pressure on the gauze she placed on Xu Wuying's wrist, causing the blood the ooze out more and prompting her to groan due to the pain, "Can you please be gentle?"

Jiang Yue glanced at her, "If you don't want anything to happen to your wrist, then bear with it. I had to stop the bleeding."

She then tied another gauze around it, to keep it in place.

"It was indeed my fault, but I didn't say you were slow. Your reaction time just didn't improve, and it got even worse. Had you stopped practicing shooting?" Jiang Yue asked, prompting Xu Wuying to grimace as the girl had hit the nail right on its head.

"I prefer using knives more."

She glanced at the woman, "Don't give me that bullshit. Any assassin from Fallen Vengeance should be an expert both in firearms and weapons, that is a rule." Jiang Yue said in a hard tone of voice.

She let go of Xu Wuying's hand and turned her head toward her when she heard no response.

Seeing the expression on her face, Jiang Yue asked, "What? You also feel like Fallen Vengeance has too many rules?"

Xu Wuying pursed her lips, and Jiang Yue knew she was right.

She couldn't help but be disappointed deep inside.

"Xu Wuying, what we're doing isn't like any other job where if we mess up, we could still have another chance. One wrong move could mean the end of us— I know you're aware of that," Jiang Yue remained silent for a few seconds as she considered her next words, "Fallen Vengeance would not be where it is today if we hadn't established all those rules, and the organization places a high value on discipline and continuous training; everyone goes through rigorous physical, mental, and combat training to hone their skills— even if you're in a position where you could do anything, you're no exception."

Jiang Yue averted her gaze, not wanting Xu Wuying to notice her disappointment.

"If you disregarded the rules when you were with me at that time when we made it, then I don't know what Fallen Vengeance had become now."
