Poaching Shadow
Jiang Yue's pupils constricted.
She only wants to treat Xu Wuying's wound as soon as possible and be able to leave the place safely.
Although she was curious about his identity and the organization they were operating, she didn't care because she could always try to find out more about them once they left the place.
What she was concerned about was that if she healed Xu Wuying's wound, he would break his end of the bargain and kill both of them. She won't be able to threaten him with a gun to his head since she needs to focus on Xu Wuying's gunshot wound.
"Give me medical supplies," Jiang Yue demanded, maintaining eye contact with the man in front of her and refusing to back down.
After a little pause, the man nodded.
He turned to the men who surrounded the room and said, "You heard her, give her what she needs."
"And please let them leave the room," Jiang Yue added.
"You might as well have the whole villa to yourself."
Jiang Yue shrugged, "Up to you."
The man scoffed, yet he nevertheless told his men to "leave."
The men all followed his orders and left the room without saying anything.
"Are you afraid I'll back out of the deal and my men will kill you?"
"Should I not be concerned?"
"I'm not someone who disregards their words. You can relax and treat your friend's wound; it should be me who is concerned about being alone with two assassins from Fallen Vengeance."
Jiang Yue remarked as she folded the end of her long sleeves, "Don't worry, I won't kill anyone as long as they don't stand in my way."
"Seems like we have more in common than I thought," he said as he saw Shadow kneel on the carpet and begin carefully removing her friend's gauze from her wound, which was now soaked with blood.
Jiang Yue eventually lowered her hand and handed the gun to Xu Wuying, who took it with her other hand.
Xu Wuying on the other hand stated, "Oh, you don't need to worry about me either. Do you think I'm still a threat with my condition? I can barely move my hand now."
"A crooked knife does not mean it can no longer kill."
Xu Wuying merely snickered.
Not long after, two men entered with a package of medical supplies that Jiang Yue required, including a lidocaine injection that is used to numb an area of the body to assist relieve pain or discomfort, which would be extremely beneficial to Xu Wuying, who was already in a lot of suffering.
She injected it into Xu Wuying's arm and started to remove the bullet that was still lodged inside.
"Then how about you tell me why you killed Tang Shuren?" The man asked, his eyes fixed on Shadow's hands that were cutting open the other woman's wrist, and he couldn't help but notice how she was so certain about what she was doing as though she had done it multiple times.
To distract herself from the pain of getting her wrist opened apart as the injection is still slowly taking effect, Xu Wuying replied, "Isn't it obvious enough? We killed him because it was a mission, and I was given 50 million dollars; although I usually accept missions worth hundreds of millions of dollars, I accepted it because Tang Shuren was an easy target."
Although he was from an elite and wealthy family in the country, it was nowhere near those who are politically involved and had power.
So 50 million dollars was more than enough for Xu Wuying to kill him.
"Easy?" The man repeated with a dry laugh, "If you're already like this with an easy mission, what would you be like if you accepted a difficult one? You wouldn't be lying in your pool of blood, would you?" he asked, his gaze shifting to the several bloods that had already fallen to the intricately embroidered carpet.
Xu Wuying's blood started to boil when she heard his statement, she then replied with gritted teeth, "It was an easy mission if only your group of men hadn't intercepted— they were annoying as hell," she sneered, "But we were able to play them like a cat to a mouse despite being outnumbered."
"It was indeed impressive," the man replied with a nod, before taking something from his coat and placing it on the glass table in the center.
Xu Wuying's brow wrinkled as she noticed it was Shadow's phone, which she had left in the car they were riding in case they found it on her.
She didn't have the chance to do something to it as his men wouldn't pry their eyes away from her.
"I knew you had an accomplice for you to play my men like a cat to mouse, but I didn't expect she'd be this good at hacking, and what I didn't expect even more was that she'd be Shadow," the man said, a smirk on his lips, he then said to Jiang Yue who had her head lowered, "No wonder you were able to take down Xuan Bo."
Jiang Yue came to a halt and looked up, her gaze immediately meeting with his as if he had seen right through her.
"How about you work for me?" The man offered and she couldn't help but laugh lightly.
"How about you tell me who you are first, what your group of men does and I'll consider it?"
"Can't seem to keep your curiosity at bay?"
"I have to know what I'm getting myself into," she shrugged, "I have to know what I'm getting myself into."
"I doubt you've heard about us," the man said, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"And it's either your organization is nothing or it's way out of our reach," Jiang Yue said as she returned to remove the bullet from Xu Wuying's wrist.
"Why don't you decide for yourself?" He smirked, "Shadow, have you ever heard of Inferno?"
'Inferno?'
Jiang Yue repeated the word in her head several times, trying to recall anything she had heard about this particular name, but she was unable to remember anything.
She then replied casually, her gaze concentrated on Xu Wuying's wound, "No, you have to be more specific."
"It's a private security agency."
"A what?" exclaimed Xu Wuying, who had been listening.
"Inferno is a private security agency," he stated calmly.
"How come I had never heard of it before?"
Before he could even answer her question, someone had beat him to it, "Because it's out of our reach."
His gaze shifted back to Shadow and he nodded with a smile, "Precisely."
Jiang Yue was certain of it because Fallen Vengeance, an assassin organization in the business of killing, would find Inferno to be a hindrance because they safeguard the safety and well-being of their prized clientele through a variety of specialized services.
Their services are aimed at protecting their clients, but despite being on opposing ends of a business, they had never met, which simply indicates that the clients from Inferno aren't the type of targets they have.
"What do you mean it's out of our reach?" Xu Wuying was in disbelief, "Our targets have always been people who are already among the top and are influential. If they are still out of our reach for us to not even hear a thing about them, then what kind of people are they protecting? Fucking royals?"
Jiang Yue was deep in thought and was also thinking about something.
"We have some," the man replied, tilting his head cockily, causing Xu Wuying to roll her eyes.
Jiang Yue looked up and narrowed her eyes, "Then why are you protecting Tang Shuren?"
Xu Wuying hearing her words, understood immediately what she meant, she frowned, "I wouldn't have even accepted assassinating Tang Shuren as a mission if it weren't for my client paying more for what he's worth for, yet your private security agency that is supposedly out of our reach, protected him? That sounds kind of stupid, doesn't it?"
"Protecting Tang Shuren wasn't a service, it was an order from someone."
"And here I thought you were the one in charge of everything in Inferno," Su Wuying snarled.
"I am."
"Oh?"0
"Then why did that person order to protect Tang Shuren?" Jiang Yue inquired, drawing the attention of the guy and Xu Wuying, who was ready to annoy the man in front of her.
"I could tell you, but I can't let you leave this place alive, your choice," the man said with a grin, "but I would hate that. How could I kill the one and only Shadow?"
Jiang Yue pressed her lips together.
She was fully aware that knowing too much was perilous.
But she was concerned that there might be a link between Feng De and why Tang Shuren was being protected.
Inferno, like the man in front of her, remained a mystery to her.
Because she hadn't heard him introduce himself, she said, "You've never told us who you are."
Perhaps she could gather information about this man in front of her.
