You look a bit familiar
Jiang Yue's cheeks turned rosy and her eyes seem to have a mind of their own as her gaze darted away to avoid Luo Zhelan's gaze which felt too heavy on her.
She had never idea that being around him could make her lose her composure, yet that's exactly what happened. She experienced this newfound shyness as an unexpected wave that leaves her feeling vulnerable but yet oddly elated.
Luo Zhelan seeing how her cheeks became red and how she immediately avoided his gaze, couldn't help but chuckle as he distanced himself from her.
"Are we going back to the Police Station?" He asked as he turned on the car.
"Hmm," Jiang Yue hummed an assent, watching the several buildings they passed by.
When the two of them once again arrived at the police station, Luo Zhelan entered the building along with Jiang Yue.
She was just about to go to the information desk again to have an officer escort her to the detention cell when Officer Gu just entered the room.
"Oh, you're just in time," The woman stated when she saw her, "The owner of Q & K club just called and decided to compromise and withdraw the case. After her public prosecutor applies for the withdrawal, your friend can leave right away."
Jiang Yue's brow couldn't help but raise when she heard Officer Gu's words. Her eyes couldn't help but glance at the man beside her as she could already guess that it was his doing.
"Thank you, Officer Gu, I would like to see her again," Jiang Yue asked to which the woman agreed.
The three of them went to Sunshine's detention cell, and seeing the woman who was laying on the floor before she left was already on the bed sitting while hugging her knees, Jiang Yue stated, "I thought the floor was too comfortable for you."
Sunshine looked up and Jiang Yue wish she could capture her friend's face because of how messy she looked, not to mention that there are still lipstick stains on the side of her lips.
"Thank goodness you're here," Sunshine stated as she stood up, "I want to go home, their bed's too hard."
This woman still has the guts to complain their bed's too hard when she probably had slept on the floor all this time.
Jiang Yue turned towards Luo Zhelan and said, "You take action too fast, it would have been better if she stayed here for around a week."
Let her learn her lesson about drinking alone till she's wasted.
"You didn't tell me. Should I call Fu Xifeng and ask her to get the Q & K club's owner to continue the case?"
Jiang Yue hearing those words from him was speechless.
"Oh, it was Fu Liwei who I called who then asked his sister since Fu Xifeng seems to be familiar with Q & K club's owner." Luo Zhelan out of the blue explained, which even made her more speechless.
"It's fine, besides she might stay here for a day before the complainant could get her lawyer to withdraw the case," just as Jiang Yue said those words, another officer approached them suddenly, getting their attention.
"Deputy Chief He," Officer Gu who was beside them greeted the older man, which she and Luo Zhelan did as well.
The man turned towards Luo Zhelan and stated, "Why are you here? There was no need to come here."
"I'm just here to accompany my girlfriend," Luo Zhelan replied nonchalantly, and Jiang Yue's furrowed brows couldn't help but relax as she felt her cheeks redden.
Hearing those words from him was too sudden for her.
Deputy Chief He merely nodded and turned towards Officer Gu, "Let the girl leave."
"The lawyer of the complaint still hasn't applied for the withdrawal of the case," Officer Gu replied with furrowed brows.
"It is getting processed but there's no need to wait for it, the girl's free to go."
Officer Gu had her forehead creased as she was silent for a moment before nodding and getting someone to open Sunshine's cell.
Jiang Yue could tell what was making the woman hesitate as it needs for the withdrawal to be processed first before the detainee is allowed to leave, and Officer Gu was someone who had always stuck to the rules.
She turned around only to see that Deputy Chief He was deeply looking at her, making her not know what to do.
"You look a bit familiar," Deputy Chief He declared, and Luo Zhelan couldn't help but raise his brow when he heard his words.
Jiang Yue couldn't help but touch the tip of her nose as she said monotonously as though she was reciting a line from her memory, "You're pretty dumb for a police officer in your position."
Deputy Chief He hearing her remark laughed loudly, confusing Luo Zhelan as he gazed questioningly at her, to which she only shrugged her shoulder in response.
After he had gathered himself, he said as he patted Luo Zhelan on his shoulder, "I didn't expect to see you again here, and this boy's girlfriend at that."
Deputy Chief He looked at her up and down, "You grew up beautiful for someone who looked like a pretty boy when she was a child."
Jiang Yue didn't know how to respond so she simply said, "Thank you."
Deputy Chief, He was among the officers that she had gotten to know when she had been detained several times in the police station, however, at that time he was still a lieutenant.
If she had gotten close to Officer Gu because she had given 'advice', she was familiar with Deputy Chief He because they'd have a riddle competition against his co-police officers to pass the time, and he would ask her for the answer, which she would answer correctly each time.
As he had always asked her about the answer, she had said to him one time 'You're pretty dumb for a police officer in your position,' and then she would say that every time he ask her for the answer.
"You're here for your friend?" Deputy Chief He asked as he gestured towards Sunshine who was dozing again.
"Yeah."
"I have a riddle for you to answer," Deputy Chief He stated out of a sudden with a smile on his lips, and Jiang Yue couldn't help but groan, "Deputy Chief He, several years had passed already and your co-workers still hasn't run out of riddles?"
"The riddle game had long stopped for years."
"Oh, I could already guess that it was you who had answered almost all of it correctly."
Deputy Chief He laughed once again.
"This would be the last one, if you got it correct I'll let your friend leave right away," He added, and Luo Zhelan who had been listening to the two, said, "You've already given your word."
Aside from calling Fu Liwei, he also called the man in front of them just in case the owner of the Q & K club won't withdraw the case, and Deputy Chief He had promised him to do what he asked of him.
"Ah right."
Seeing that the older man was just asking for her to answer it just for fun, Jiang Yue couldn't help but agree in the end, "Fine."
Deputy Chief He asked right away, "A truck driver is going down a one-way street the wrong way, and passes at least ten cops. Why is he not caught?"
Jiang Yue finally hearing the riddle he wanted her to answer, couldn't help but roll her eyes, "Deputy Chief He, where did you even get this riddle? I've heard this one several times in the streets."
Luo Zhelan couldn't help but agree as it sound so easy.
"Oh, I got this from one of our prisoners."
No wonder.
"Because he's walking," Jiang Yue answered monotonously, "Any more riddles you want me to answer?"
Deputy Chief He laughed as he shook his head, "You haven't changed, you still have that 'you're stupid look on your face' every time you answer."
Jiang Yue rolled her eyes again, knowing that he just wanted to ask her a riddle to see that exact expression he was talking about.
Officer Gu came back and unlocked the cell. Jiang Yue then went inside and shook Sunshine's shoulder to wake her up again.
"We're going home— don't even try to close your eyes again or I'll leave you here for a week," Jiang Yue threatened when she noticed Sunshine was about to close her eyes again after she had shaken her awake.
"My head feels like it's being drilled," She heard Sunshine mumble which prompted her to sneer.
"Good, remember that pain so you won't try drinking alone again."0
It was really dangerous for her to drink alone in a city she had been for just a week.
Luo Zhelan who was waiting outside the cell, couldn't help but chuckle when he heard those words from Jiang Yue.
She had the guts to say those words when she in fact had also tried drinking alone and had been wasted?
"Let's go, you look like shit and smell even worse," Jiang Yue stated and slapped the girl awake again, "Sunshine, do you even know how much you reek right now?"
Sunshine who had her consciousness scattered, finally stared straight at Jiang Yue as though she couldn't believe her words, "I reek?"
One thing Jiang Yue knows about Sunshine was that the woman was always conscious about how she smells.
"Yeah, so stand up and change already so I can take you back to your place."
