The Saint Doctor
Jiang Yue contacted the number a couple more times, but the other person wasn't answering her calls.1
When she opened the program she had created, her brow furrowed as she noticed where the red dot was.
Sunshine is on the outskirts of Country Z?
That woman always calls her whenever she travels to another place because she is afraid of being tracked down by other people who are desperate for her services.
Sunshine hadn't called her in a few months, so she assumed the woman was still staying in the same place.
Jiang Yue's fingers tapped on the back of her phone, waiting for the call to be picked up.
The phone was finally answered on her fifth attempt, prompting her to step outside their dorm room.
"You missed me already?" Sunshine playfully asked on the other end of the phone.
"I thought you didn't want people to know where you are?" Jiang Yue scolded.
"Well yes, it's too annoying to keep refusing. Then they'll ask me why I even had the 'Saint Doctor' title if I ain't even a saint? It wasn't me who gave that title to myself!" The woman on the other side began to babble again, causing Jiang Yue to furrow her brows.
Sunshine was a friend she had known for many years.
She is a doctor who frequently travels from one location to another to assist in disasters or events where medical assistance is most needed. As a result, people began to learn more about her and what she was capable of, prompting some people to find her for her service.
However, the thing about Sunshine was that she despised being forced, it has to be her who had to take the initiative to treat someone, or even if you threaten her or offer her money, the woman would still refuse.
"You didn't tell me you left Country K," Jiang Yue stated and Sunshine only reacted as though it wasn't a big deal, "Oh right, I forgot about it."
"Someone just offered me $100 million to find you, isn't that a good deal?"
When Sunshine heard her words, she exclaimed "Hey, hey Jiang Yue! Am I only worth $100 million to you? That's not how a good friend should be!"
"A good friend wouldn't fly to another country without informing her 'friend,'" Jiang Yue snorted, "If they find your location, I'm not going to save your ass anymore."
"Ah, I completely forgot to tell you about it, and it hasn't even been an hour since I arrived at Country Z's border! I was just about to call you, yet you beat me to it," Sunshine said, knowing that if the girl said such things, she would act on them.
Jiang Yue could only roll her eyes knowing that the girl was just buttering her up, "What are you doing there? Something happened?"
Hearing the girl's question, Sunshine became serious as her high-pitched voice lowered, "Yes, I'm just about to go. A 7.6 magnitude earthquake just struck the western border of Country Z," Jiang Yue couldn't help but straighten her back as Sunshine explained more, "I don't know the specifics but thousands had already died and there are still a lot more injured in the region. Not to mention there were still people who weren't yet rescued from the fallen buildings."
"Then just do what you have to do, and I'll cover your tracks— I'll deposit money into your account to help the victims," Jiang Yue said as it wasn't the first time she had done it.
Every time Sunshine goes to a region that needs medical help, she also sends money to help those in need.
It's the least she can do, especially for the children who had lost their parents and families.
The least she could help is assist them by distributing food, cash assistance, or providing shelter for them.
"Yes, I'll call you again later,"
Jiang Yue couldn't help but remind, "Don't go out without changing your appearance, the news that you're a woman is already circulating, with their scope for searching you lessened, it's easier to find you."
"I know, I know, I already brought a wig. I was planning on wearing a blonde wig and dressing up as Sailor Moon to at least distract the children, but I guess I'd draw too much attention to myself."
Jiang Yue's lips twitched, "Good thing you could still think of that, or it won't be long before those people caught you."
"You're saying it as if I'm some criminal— I'll go now, I've already arrived at the place."
Sunshine ended the call not long after and Jiang Yue went back to her dorm.
She opened her laptop and news about the earthquake started to circulate on the internet.
In the following few days, however, there were almost no people discussing the earthquake that struck a large region near Country Z's border; although Country Z is far away, it is still a major incident that should be addressed because thousands of people were affected.
Jiang Yue knew how this kind of incident affect people as she had once gone with Sunshine to a region that was struck with an earthquake and that was only a magnitude of 6.3, and hundreds of families lost their homes at that, what more the Border of the Country Z which experienced a 7.6 magnitude earthquake.
"Brother Yue, it won't be long before your brows start to connect," Wan Zhu couldn't help but say so when he noticed Jiang Yue has been furrowing her brows while looking at her phone.
"Are you reading the comments? You were the one who told us not to read it though," Wen Liling added as well when she hear Wan Zhu's words.
Jiang Yue answered, "No," then she continued and asked in a frigid voice, "Why are people still talking about my issues when there is a bigger problem at hand?"
"What happened?"
When Hu Mei overheard their chat, she said, "Are you talking about the earthquake in Country Z?"
Jiang Yue nodded.
"That's the thing, some people don't care about certain incidents unless it happened to their country— or some might only even care if it happened to their family," Hu Mei stated which made Kang Jinhai scratch his head, "Well I'm sorry, I don't know about it."
"You should be sorry, you shouldn't be so ignorant of what's going on around Kang Jinhai," Wen Liling continued, to which he could only nod.
"I could only send a small amount because I don't have any savings left," Jiang Xiu explained, prompting Jiang Yue to stop scrolling.
She hadn't given Jiang Xiu any money, how could she forget about it?
