Waking up in an unfamiliar place

When Jiang Yue woke up, a groan escaped her dry lips as her hands grabbed her head which was about to break from the splitting headache she felt.  0

She sat up and her eyes roamed around the place. It took her a moment to realize she was in an unfamiliar room, making her disoriented and confused. 

'Where is this— what happened?'

She tried to remember what happened last night but aside from remembering how she stepped on the man and helped the girl hail a cab, she doesn't have any memory of anything right after that. 

She just hope she didn't do anything that she would regret. 

Jiang Yue only wanted to forget momentarily the pain and emptiness she felt inside, just like how she did before by participating in gang fights and immersing herself in playing games all day. 

The only difference was that she tried to forget it by being drunk. 

She turned her head and that's when she noticed that there was a paper bag on the side table. 

When she opened it, it contains a simple white shirt and fitted jeans, similar to what she mostly uses— there was also an underwear set. 

Jiang Yue slapped her head lightly a few times as it was starting to ache again. She grabbed the paper bag and went inside the bathroom to take a bath as she reeks of alcohol. 

'Did I check in myself in a hotel last night?'

She couldn't help but think so as all the things inside the bathroom were brand new. 

She freshened up and went out afterward. 

When she opened the door of the bedroom, she froze in her place as she can hear a sound coming from the west side of the room— probably the kitchen. 

Jiang Yue's brows furrowed as her body became alert, however, when she took a peek at what was happening inside the kitchen, she was dumbfounded. 

'What is Luo Zhelan doing here?'

Just as that question popped up in her mind, the said man turned towards her and raised his brow at her, "What are you doing there? Come here."

Although her mind was still in a state of confusion, she went inside and sat on one of the chairs, "I—," she cleared her throat as it still felt dry, "I should be asking you that question."

Luo Zhelan hearing her talk grabbed a glass of warm water and handed it to her, "Drink it first," he ordered as he leaned on the countertop of the kitchen island. 

He stared at the girl in front of him, when he saw she finished the whole glass, he asked, "How are you feeling?" 

Jiang Yue answered truthfully, "Horrible." 

"Good," Luo Zhelan said with a serious expression, causing Jiang Yue to be speechless.

"I hope you won't forget that feeling so you won't drink until you're passed out again—" Realizing that he may sound a bit harsh, he added, "—just don't do that again. If you ever decide to get drunk, get someone to look after you— or tell me." 

Jiang Yue pursed her lips and nodded in the end. 

Looking at her reaction that looks like a child being scolded, Luo Zhelan couldn't help but say as he pinched the skin between his eyebrows, "I was only worried about you, it isn't safe to drink alone. Who knows what could have happened if Fu Xifeng wasn't there..." 

He doesn't even want to think about it.

If Fu Xifeng wasn't there then no one would have told Fu Liwei and no one would have told him, a lot of things could have happened. 

"... Or perhaps do you usually drink like that?" asked Luo Zhelan with his brows furrowed. 

He knew the girl is experienced in many things— is drinking also one of them? 

Jiang Yue was silent for a few seconds before she shook her head then said hesitatingly, "That was the first time I did that." 

"That was your first time yet you went alone?" He asked with a tone tinged with disbelief. 

This girl...

"That's what I said." 

Just as he was about to start scolding again, he realized something and he asked in a low voice, "Did something happen?" 

He saw Jiang Yue purse her lips as she avoided his gaze, and that was enough to answer his question, making him sigh deep inside. 

Knowing that the girl won't probably tell him anything, he didn't push the topic anymore and said, "I understand but next time, don't ever go alone. Let's eat first." 

Just as he said that, he smelt something burning, when he turned around, the omelet that he left on the pan was already burnt on the edges. 

He cursed under his breath as he grabbed a spatula and flipped it, only to see that the other side of the omelet was already black. 

Jiang Yue seeing him anxiously flip an egg somehow amuses her as her lips couldn't help but perk up. 

"These are already enough," she said as she motioned at the several plates of simple dishes in front of her, "I'm not that fond of eggs anyway." 

Luo Zhelan hearing her words felt better. 

It was the first time that he cooked for her yet he messed up. 

He couldn't help but curse himself in his mind. 

He cleaned up the mess and sat on a chair in front of her. 

Just as he was about to put some food on her plate, he heard a door being opened, causing him to halt his actions. 

When he looked in the hallway going to the kitchen, he saw familiar faces again, making his mouth droop downwards as he put down the utensils in his hands. 

"Hey, good morning!" Fu Xifeng gritted with a big smile on her face, "I brought some food."

"Oh, they might have better-tasting dishes here," Qin Zirui grinned, grabbed a spoon, and didn't hesitate to taste the few dishes on the table. 

"What are the two of you doing here?" Luo Zhelan asked, his eyes narrowing at the two people. 

"Excuse me? It should be— what are you doing here? I was the one who said first that I'll go back here!"
