We're not in a relationship

When Jiang Yue heard the old man's remark, she raised her brow and said, "We haven't broken up because we're not in a relationship."

Principal Wei was taken aback.

"The two of you aren't in a relationship?" He asked in a dubious tone, not quite believing the girl's statement. 

He suspected something was going on between his disciple and Luo Zhelan with how the two interacted during their meal at Golden Imperial, and what made him confirm his suspicion was when he saw them holding hands at the hospital. 

"We're not..." Jiang Yue answered, causing Principal Wei's creased brows to relax and a broad smile to form on his face. Yet, the girl's following words astounded him once more.

"But we will be soon." 

"What?"

"Principal Wei, Miss Jiang, congratulations on being the Nation's Top Scorer this time," one person approached the two of them, interrupting Wei Gouzhi.

Jiang Yue nodded and said, "Thank you."

"I'll go back in a while, I'll entertain the others first," Jiang Yue said, and Wei Guozhi could only gesture for her to go, understanding that the girl was referring to Luo Zhelan and his group of friends.

Jiang Yue moved to another table, where Luo Zhelan, Fu Liwei, Gao Jing, Qin Zirui, and Fu Xifeng had already taken their seats.

Jiang Xiu is also there, talking to Fu Xifeng. 

"You're finally here," Fu Xifeng exclaimed as she saw the girl come over. "If you weren't talking to Principal Wei, I would have approached you already."

Jiang Yue stated, "He just introduced me to some of his friends."

Jiang Xiu rose to give her seat next to Fu Xifeng to her sister and  seeing her intention, Jiang Yue remarked, "It's fine, you sit there," and sat beside the empty chair next to Luo Zhelan. 

"Miss Jiang, congratulations. I didn't expect you to be the front page of every news article," Fu Liwei said first, causing Qin Zirui to respond, "She's already done that before, it's just that this time it took our entire country on a whole new ride."

"Yeah, congratulations. I was so happy when I found out you were the Nation's Top Scorer with a perfect score that I ended up treating everyone in my club that night," Fu Xifeng said.

"You did? You could have called me then I could have drunk until I passed out." Gao Jing said, earning him an eye roll from Fu Xifeng. 

"No, thank you, you would ruin the fun." 

"Hey, how can you say that?" 

"The last time I hung out with you, you were dead drunk that I had to drag you to my car, I don't want to go through that again." 

"I was going through a fling breakup at that time." 

"Thank you," Jiang Yue interrupted the two seeing that they might continue to banter. 

"It's nothing. Whenever you or Xiao Xiu come to my club, your tabs will be on me. It's my congratulatory gift for the two of you," Fu Xifeng said with a broad smile.

Luo Zhelan and Fu Liwei hearing her remark, couldn't help but frown when they remembered Jiang Yue's drunk behavior at that time. 

Fu Liwei scowled, "I don't think that's a good idea."

Luo Zhelan was ready to remark something in agreement with his friend when he heard the girl beside him say, "How is it not a good idea?"

"It's a pretty good gift, thank you," Jiang Yue said to Fu Xifeng.

"Oh, I'd love to go to your club one day— I haven't tried clubbing even once yet," Jiang Xiu said, noting that she hadn't been to Club Majesty yet Fu Xifeng had already told her a lot about it. 

"Really? How is that possible? I've tried clubbing at the age of 15." Fu Xifeng exclaimed as she didn't expect it. 

"I was with you at that time," Fu Liwei remarked and she replied, "So? That doesn't change the fact that I've gone clubbing at the age of 15."

"That's not something to be proud of," Qin Zirui voiced out. 

"I'm not, I'm just saying that most people I know have gone to a club at a very young age. Can you shut up Qin Zirui, I'm not talking to you." 

Fu Xifeng turned to Jiang Xiu and smiled, "Just tell me when you will have the time and I could go with you." 

Jiang Yue, who was listening to their conversation couldn't help but notice that Luo Zhelan had been looking at his watch, so she asked, "Do you have any other plans for tonight?" 

Luo Zhelan answered, "No— oh, I do have another plan for tonight." 

"Ah," Jiang Yue couldn't think of anything to say because she had planned to tell him something that night and it appeared like he was in a rush because the man had already glanced at his wristwatch numerous times.

"What time are you going to leave?" 

"7 pm." 

Jiang Yue checked the time on her phone which was 15 minutes before 7 o'clock in the evening. 

Seeing that he might not have the time to talk  at the celebration dinner anymore, she decided to postpone what she was going to say. 

"Oh, okay I understand. I was planning to tell you something tonight but that can wait," Jiang Yue stated, causing Luo Zhelan's brows to furrow, "You might wanna leave now, so you can get there on time." 

"How about you escort me out?" Luo Zhelan suggested to which she nodded. 

"I'll escort him out first, and I'll come back later," she said to the others who were already engaged in conversation.

"You're already leaving? It's still early." Qin Zirui asked in disbelief. 

He expected his friend to be the last to leave, as he'll most likely leave with Jiang Yue after the celebratory dinner.

Luo Zhelan nodded. 

"Oh, then take care, Young Master Luo." Jiang Xiu bid her goodbye. 

Jiang Yue and Luo Zhelan went out of the venue and just as Jiang Yue is about to walk to the elevator, Luo Zhelan caught her hand, prompting her to halt in her place. 

Jiang Yue turned around and said, "What is it?" with a raised brow.

When she looked at the man's face, she noted his furrowed brows and expression.

Jiang Yue didn't know why, but she saw that the man's expression and demeanor were unusual, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was.

"Let's take the stairs." 

"Ah?" She was taken aback then she asked in an amused tone, "Has Young Master Luo forgotten that we're currently on the top floor of a building? I don't mind walking the stairs in a 45-floor building from the top floor, but aren't you in a hurry?" 

"I am, so let's just go, it's almost 7 p.m." Luo Zhelan said as he proceeded towards the stairs without letting go of her hand.

Jiang Yue could only follow him and say, "You won't make it in time if you plan to take the stairs."

However, her brows couldn't help but furrow this time when she noticed that they did take the stairs but instead of going down, they were going up. 

'Don't tell me this man brought a helicopter or why else is he going to the rooftop?' 

Jiang Yue couldn't help but think so as she walked alongside him, his hand still firmly holding hers.

With that thought in mind, she expected to see a helicopter on the rooftop when Luo Zhelan opened the door, but when she saw that the rooftop floor was empty, she had no idea what was going on in Luo Zhelan's mind this time.

Just as she had taken a few steps on the rooftop, a shimmering spark of light could be seen going to the darkened sky which then turned to a big burst of colors as a loud boom could be heard.  0

Her eyes couldn't stop staring at the golden sparkles on the night sky as they painted it with shimmering trails, seeing how the sky suddenly transformed into a stunning spectacle of colors due to the fireworks.

However, just as she thought that would be it,  the entire billboard display and the huge outdoor led display of the buildings surrounding the rooftop began to light up as various letters began to appear on the screen.

Reading the sentence that just flashed on all of the screens, Jiang Yue finally understood why Luo Zhelan was in a hurry and what his other plans is for the night. 

On the screen, it says, 'Congratulations Jiang Yue.'

So it turns out he planned everything to surprise her.

She turned to the man beside her who had been looking at her this entire time, watching how her eyes sparkled along the fireworks and how the corner of her lips perked up. 

Jiang Yue went closer to Luo Zhelan for him to hear her as the fireworks are still going on in the background, "Was this your plan all along?"

"I planned this long before the results are out— I would have still surprised you whatever your score is," Luo Zhelan said, but what truly wanted to say was that he did it not because she was the Nation's Top Scorer this time, but merely to surprise her.

But who would have guessed she'd give him a reason to surprise her?

The girl had achieved a perfect score in the National College Entrance Examination, earning her the title of 'The Nation's Top Scorer'.
