Jiang Yue couldn't help but feel a profound warmth that enveloped her when she heard Luo Zhelan's words.2

To say she was stunned by what she had witnessed that night would be an understatement.

She had no idea Luo Zhelan had planned all of this for her, and she had no idea she'd ever receive such a surprise in her life.

She expected to continue living with hatred and self-blame buried deep within her as it consumed her. However, while she still blames herself for what happened to her brother, it wasn't as bad as it had been, and she could see herself being happy, living a good life, and it was all because of the people she had met in the last few months.

The new friends she had made, her classmates, her sister who she has seen the happiest she is now, her father who is slowly recovering, and reconnecting with her Master and her previous friends, are the reasons why she does not let hatred consume her heart.

And the man next to her, the man she met by chance on the night they were ambushed, was the person she least anticipated to have an impact on her life.

He aided and lent them a hand that night, and he also did so in her life, extending his hand to her to help her get through whatever she was going through.

He'd assist her in any way he could, with or without her knowledge.

She didn't expect them to go this far after meeting that night, but they did, and she doesn't want to let him go.

She doesn't want to ruin herself and the happiness she may have had by focusing on finding the individuals who caused harm to her family. She will continue to do so and won't stop until she has avenged her brother's death, but she also does not want to have any regrets.

She resented learning the truth so late, allowing those responsible for the incident to live while her brother is now a few feet below ground and her father is still in the hospital.

She regretted not checking on Jiang Xiu all these years, assuming that returning a few days a year and giving her some allowance was enough, giving Xia Mingzhou the opportunity to harm her sister.

She regretted she wasn't at Ying Wei's house or with her father and sister when the incidents happen, then maybe none of it would have happened or at least they wouldn't be where thay are now.

She's already regretted several things that made her heart heavy whenever these thoughts crossed her mind, and she doesn't want to add another one to the list.

She doesn't want to look back and regret not giving Luo Zhelan a chance, missing out on the life she may have had if she had.

She has never been in a relationship before, but she is willing to try for Luo Zhelan and open her heart and give it to him.

With that in mind, she lowered the slight perk on the corner of her lips and her gaze grew solemn.

"Luo Zhelan," Jiang Yue exclaimed, attempting to get his attention that had already been drawn to her before she even called out his name.

Luo Zhelan's other hand, which was not holding the girl's, formed a clenched fist as his expression tightened.

"I have to tell you something," Jiang Yue uttered to the man, as fireworks echoed in the background and the night sky flashed with various shimmering colors.

"Do you need to tell me now? It's already deep into the night, let's go." Luo Zhelan remarked and tugged her hand to walk towards the door of the rooftop. 

Jiang Yue tugged him back, not letting the man walk even a step away, "No, I have to tell you now, or who knows when will I get the courage to say so." 

Luo Zhelan couldn't help but run his other hand through his hair as he asked, "Why don't you think about it for a few more days? I could wait."

Jiang Yue was confused by his behavior this time, and to show her resolve, she gazed into his eyes as she said the following words, "But I can't wait, and I need to tell you now."

The man in front of her stared back at her with furrowed brows and a little grimace on his lips, seeming troubled as though he is conflicted on the inside, which bewildered Jiang Yue even more by how he was reacting.

Luo Zhelan couldn't help but sigh as he squeeze her hand and stated, "Jiang Yue, I know I said I would pursue you and I don't want to force you in any way but just let me, okay? I'm not asking for an answer right away or in a few weeks; I'm willing to wait. Besides, it was wrong of me to express my interest so soon after you turned eighteen, but I doubt I'd be where I am today, this close to you if I hadn't."

Jiang Yue who was still confused a few seconds ago, became stunned at this moment and she asked in a somewhat bewildered tone of voice, "What do you mean?" 

Luo Zhelan cleared his throat before responding, "What I'm trying to say is, don't stop me from pursuing you."

Hearing that sentence from him, Jiang Yue finally understood what he meant by his words. 

So Luo Zhelan believed she wanted to dissuade him from pursuing her?

Where did this man even get that idea?

However, upon reflection, she does want him to stop pursuing her because she was ready to give him her answer.

With this in mind, Jiang Yue stated with a raised brow, and in the most serious tone she could muster, stated, "Well, I want you to stop pursuing me, there's no need anymore." 

Luo Zhelan's expression changed into one of distraught in just a second, prompting Jiang Yue to smile.
