He was well aware that the girl in front of him had carefully considered every decision she had made, and if she stated she wanted him to stop, it was likely not a spur-of-the-moment decision.

He doesn't want to force her, but he also doesn't want to give up; he's conflicted on the inside.

"Is that your final decision? I told you, I can wait. you don't have to give me an answer right now," Luo Zhelan sought to persuade her once again.

Jiang Yue, on the other hand, simply stated, "But I can't wait, and I'm telling you, you need to stop pursuing me."

Luo Zhelan felt like his heart drop from how heavy it felt. But he respects Jiang Yue's decision so in the end, he nodded, and with gritted teeth, he said, "Can you please at least give me the reason why you want me to stop?" 

He's curious because she might not be ready for a relationship right now, or she doesn't want to deal with anyone pursuing her, which means it's not the end of him. He could survive as long as her response does not imply that she does not see him as her partner or that she can't like him.

Jiang Yue raised her brow at his question and answered, "Because I'm giving you my answer already," she held the man's hand tighter as she softly uttered to him, "Luo Zhelan, I'll give you a chance this one time so let's be in a relationship." 

Luo Zhelan locked his gaze on her, and Jiang Yue felt as if the man could see every thought that ran through her mind with the way he looked at her, as if he were scrutinizing the words she had just said.

"I need you to repeat what you just said." 

Jiang Yue couldn't help but chuckle lightly as she removed his grip on her, which was tight enough to turn her hand pale.

Then to Luo Zhelan's surprise, she tiptoed and he could feel a second later that a soft touch just landed on his right cheek, causing his body to stiffen. 

The girl just kissed him on his cheek. 

However, Jiang Yue didn't stop there as she did what the man had told her, she uttered to him once again, "I said, Luo Zhelan, I'll give you a chance and we'll be in a relationship. So there's no need to pursue me anymore. Do you understand?" 

Luo Zhelan who finally confirmed that the girl's words weren't just his imagination, nodded right away, afraid that the girl would take back her words. 

"You're telling the truth?" He couldn't help but ask and Jiang Yue replied with narrowed eyes, "Why would I even lie to you? Do I look like I lie about this kind of thing?" 

Luo Zhelan right away started to be nervous again thinking that maybe he just blew his chance way too soon so he explained, "No, that's not what I meant, I just can't believe it. It was out of the blue and I assumed you wanted to stop me from pursuing you and cut off contact with me." 

It is only then that Jiang Yue remembered how he acted before which was confusing her. 

"Why would you even think that way? You looked nervous and stressed a while ago. You had all this planned and you expected me to stay away from you?" Jiang Yue questioned. 

Luo Zhelan once again ran his hand through his hair as he explain while avoiding her gaze, "I heard what you said to Principal Wei and I couldn't help but think that you had already made your decision. So when you said that you had to say something to me, I thought it was it." 

Jiang Yue still didn't understand what he meant as he was making it vague so she asked once again, "What did you hear me say? I don't remember saying that I want to stay away from you." 

"You said that we haven't broken up because we're in a relationship." 

"Well that's true, we are not in a relationship, so how could we break up?" 

"It's just that at the time when you said it you had an expression of someone who was making fun of her words," Luo Zhelan said in a low voice as he didn't expect that what he was expecting was far from the truth. 

He was going to come over to Principal Wei and Jiang Yue at that time as well as to their table as he's familiar with Ye Yun, the researcher that was on their table. However, he was able to overhear what the two were talking about and hearing those words from her, he immediataly turned around so he didn't hear why Jiang Yue said those words. 

And Jiang Yue who had an expression of 'someone making fun of her words' was because she was teasing his Master, hoping for a surprised reaction from Principal Wei, which she got.

Jiang Yue suddenly realized why the man was acting so strangely, and it was because he was terrified she would reject him.

Jiang Yue found it amusing and couldn't help but laugh lightly, causing Luo Zhelan to be conflicted once more.

He doesn't want to come to seem foolish to her, but watching her giggle makes it all worthwhile.

"I didn't realize you were such an overthinker," Jiang Yue commented, her eyes twinkling with mirth.

"I am not... I couldn't believe why I ended up thinking that way either," he said, to which the girl in front of him chuckled.

"Don't worry, you won't have another chance to think about if I will stay away from you." 

Hearing her words, a smile finally appeared on Luo Zhelan's face, "Those are some big words, Miss Jiang, I hope you'll keep your word then." 

He reached out to hold her hand and place a light kiss on the back of her palm, "I won't let you have those thoughts either. Jiang Yue, thank you for giving me this chance, I won't make you regret it." 

Jiang Yue who heard those words, realized that she may not have to regret letting Luo Zhelan go by not giving him a chance, but she might regret she did so if the man ever betrayed her.

Because if that happens, she doesn't know what will happen to her heart anymore.
