A step closer to her goal
A male about 1.75 m tall in a suit entered the room around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, along with the two nurses and one doctor from the other three videos. 1
"Isn't that Luo Zhelan?" Sunshine asked, stunned as she didn't expect the man to show up in the video.
Jiang Yue didn't answer as her eyes were fixed on the screen of the laptop.
The man who just entered the room was indeed Luo Zhelan.
He looks younger in the footage, he was probably around 19 years old when this video was recorded but he appeared to be in his 20s due to his build.
But what drew Jiang Yue's attention was Luo Zhelan's demeanor in the video.
Luo Zhelan showed evident authority, standing upright with a pose exuding strength and control. There was an unpredictable air around him as if he were a dormant volcano ready to erupt at any time.
Jiang Yue was startled by his demeanor because she usually sees him with an indifferent attitude but never so frigid and imposing.
If she had met Luo Zhelan that night with the aura that he had on the video, she doubt she would easily let her guard down with him.
The doctor respectfully said to the newly arrived man, "Young Master Luo, there still aren't any improvements. Mister Feng is still unresponsive and we've already checked every possible reason why he is acting that way, but we've found nothing."
Luo Zhelan who was looking at Feng De was silent for a moment before he remarked in a low voice, "If you found nothing, it only means you aren't capable of determining what's wrong with him. I've already spent billions in funding the research institute, and I don't mind spending more as long as you find out what's wrong with him and treat him. But if the time I gave you runs out," Luo Zhelan turned towards the doctor who already has a pale face, "you know what will happen to all of you."
The doctor nodded, "We understand, Young Master Luo. We still have time, we promise not to disappoint you."
Luo Zhelan didn't respond to his sentence and turned towards the nurse who had their heads lowered, "Give me the files."
The female nurse handed the folder she was holding.
He accepted the folder and looked through it, "Update me if there are any findings."
"Yes, Young Master Luo," The doctor immediately responded.
Luo Zhelan didn't remain long in Feng De's room since he left as soon as he saw Feng De's condition.
Jiang Yue, whose thoughts were still racing about Feng De and her father's case, became even more perplexed when she saw the last footage.
She knew that Luo Zhelan had known about Feng De way before as the two had even met a few times. And she thought that he might have known where Feng De was but she didn't expect that it was him who had admitted Feng De to the mental hospital.
"Why is Luo Zhelan treating Feng De?" Sunshine couldn't help but ask because Luo Zhelan's appearance in the video just made everything more confusing.
"I don't know either..." Jiang Yue murmured with furrowed brows.
She thought that she would at least unravel a clue when she watched the four footage but instead, it made her question everything she had ever known.
"Have you known why Feng De was meeting Luo Zhelan before?" Sunshine asked again to which Jiang Yue shook her head.
"Isn't he in charge of the Research Organization of Country Z? Is that what he was about when he mentioned the research institute that he funded with billions? Gosh, he must be desperate to treat Feng De if he's willing to spend that much." Sunshine remarked.
"No, I don't think he was talking about the Research Organization, he must have been referring to another one. Even though he and Master are the heads of the Research Organization, it is still under our country's jurisdiction, and he cannot utilize it just for his personal use, especially that big of an operation."
Jiang Yue knew that there was so much more about Luo Zhelan than what the man is showing her because his information was confidential and encrypted.
For someone who has their information that much protected, surely they aren't just some president of a corporation no matter how large that corporation is.
What she didn't expect was that Luo Zhelan might be inherently connected more than she had thought in finding out about the people who had harmed her family and killed her brother.
But in what way is Luo Zhelan connected to this matter?
Why is he desperate to treat Feng De when they had only met a few times?
Is he just like her, in need of information from Feng De?
But about what?
Everything isn't adding up.
What Jiang Yue is certain of now is that the individuals who did those things to his father are the same people who made Feng De the way he is.
Neither her father's previous brain injury nor the machine she designed had any adverse effects that cause him to experience severe agonizing pain in his head.
Her father is not in a vegetative state but appears to be because something in his body is impacting him in the same manner that being in a vegetative state does.
That explains why, when she questioned him about Ying Wei at the time, her father was able to respond to her in Morse Code.
If her father was capable of responding in Morse Code, it would contradict the fact that he is in a vegetative state, because a person in one is incapable of thinking, let alone responding in Morse Code.
"Feng De does not have the disorder Aphasia," Jiang Yue said which shocked Sunshine, who was also immersed in thinking.
"Huh?"
"You stated that Feng De does not have any brain injury, and it is very strange for him to have Aphasia when he doesn't have any. Aphasia is a symptom, which may lead to something more serious, but they haven't found anything—that's because it isn't Aphasia. It isn't a drug that makes him forget about certain memories either. Sunshine, he's in a state similar to a vegetative person."
Sunshine who was listening to her explanation was even more confused this time, "But how is that possible? A vegetative state is when a person has a brain injury that affects his cerebrum and you know he doesn't have any."
"That's why I said he's in a state just similar to one."
"Then it has something to do with his cerebrum? If it isn't an injury, what is it? I haven't heard of anything like this," Sunshine said, her hands running through her face.
"Yes, and Father isn't in a vegetative state either. He just appears to be, which explains why even though he was recovering, his level of consciousness fluctuates, which shouldn't happen."
"Then what are you going to do now?"
"Treat Feng De and my Father," Jiang Yue answered.
"You know it's easier said than done."
"I know, which is why I need to learn more about Feng De and Luo Zhelan for the time being, and I might get my answers in Country F."
Jiang Yue's eyes shone with unyielding determination as a sense of happiness and anticipation of what was to come washed over her.
She's finally moving forward, no longer caught in a rut like she'd been for years.
She knew the path she had chosen would be difficult, but she was now one step closer to her ultimate goal.
It brought her one step closer to uncovering the people who harmed her family and killed Ying Wei.
A step closer to finding out more about her identity, Ying Yue.
