Bro and sis talk - Part 1
Noah had not left his Grandpa's side since he had woken up. It was all just a matter of time before the old man woke up again and he wanted to be there for him when he did so.0
The video clip Oliver had shown had more or less proved that his Grandpa and Theo were innocent and had no hand in all the crimes Jared and his gangs had committed. Or that was how it at least looked. All he needed to know now was the reason why Theo and Grandpa had faked Theo's death.
Noah smiled faintly, his tense shoulders relaxing in relief. He looked at the old man sleeping peacefully on the bed. "Old man, you only need to recover quickly and return home. I promise I will fulfill all your wishes. Now, just open your eyes and..."
"You promise..." Jonathan panted lightly through the oxygen mask. "You will fulfill all my wishes."
Noah was pleasantly surprised to see his old man wake up and he stood up suddenly, not knowing what to do at that moment. He was beyond excited and for a moment, he wondered if he should call Ian or Aria and have them check his Grandpa again.
He then remembered Ian's words and he slowly relaxed. Since his Grandpa had gained consciousness, there was no need to panic anymore. He was fine and well and just needed to rest as much as possible. If he even woke up at any time, all they had to do was speak to him and make him feel relaxed.
"Grandpa, are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Noah leaned closer to his old man and looked for signs of any uneasiness from him. But the man blinked his eyes slowly as if he was still adjusting to his environment.
"Do you want me to call the doctor?"
Jonatha shook his head and groaned lightly when his head throbbed in pain.
"Relax, Grandpa. I get it. Stay calm." Noah pressed the man's forehead lightly in assurance and the old man closed his eyes for a moment. "Yes, Grandpa. Sleep more. You need to recuperate as quickly as possible."
Noah did not stop caressing his forehead, lightly massaging it in the meanwhile, and the old man's gap between his blinks increased. Eventually, after a few minutes, he succumbed to his sleep again and Noah dropped on the chair heavily, his shirt drenched with sweat.
He stared at his old man for a few seconds before he let out a laugh and shook his head lightly. "Old man, I am going to take revenge for this. Just wait and watch." He grumbled with a tone of promise. "Since I am taking care of you, I am going to make sure that you play with my kids and give them your love. How dare you even think of falling sick."
All of sudden, he heard chimes of laughter from behind him and turned to find Rachel beaming in amusement.
"Brother, that's a unique way of threatening someone." She remarked and stood beside him as she glanced at her grandfather. "I hope Grandpa has heard you. He will be ecstatic."
"Even if he has not heard me, I will repeat my words once he wakes up. So, don't worry." Noah raised his brows at his sister and Rachel just shook her head in disbelief.
"Grandpa will be on cloud nine when he hears you speaking about his great-grandkids."
"There's no doubt about that." Noah smiled helplessly and glanced at his sister for a moment. "And I will not be talking about just my kids, I will mention about yours too."
"What do you mean?" Rachel had an ominous feeling all of a sudden and she stared at her brother with her eyes narrowed, warning him silently not to cross the lines.
But Noah being Noah did not give a damn about her warning and smiled teasingly as he thought about what he would do once the old man woke up.
"Noah, what do you have in mind? What's cooking?" Rachel did not miss his look of mischief and her heart skipped a beat in worry. Every time her brother donned this expression, someone would get it. She just hoped it was not her this time.
"What's cooking?" Noah gave her a confused look. "Nothing's cooking." He shrugged in response. If not for the twinkle in his eyes, Rachel would have surely assumed to man to have no idea about it. His eyes gave him away, and Rachel almost punched him in annoyance.
"I'm going to complain to Aria."
"Oh, what will you complain to her about?" Noah's tone was arrogant, and he looked at his sister as if he was looking at someone unimportant. But that did not mean he disregarded her.
Rachel did not speak to him. Instead, she walked around and took the couch on the other side, facing her brother directly. The small distance between them was the perfect shield for her and Rachel smiled wickedly at him.
"Ohh, you just wait and watch." She winked at him and it was now Noah's turn to narrow his eyes. "You will find out soon."
"Rachel..."
"Hmm?"
"What's cooking in your head?"
"What's cooking?" She gave him a confused looking, mimicking the way he had done to her. "Nothing's cooking." She even shrugged lightly and Noah glared at her.
"Just wait and watch. Once Grandpa wakes up, I am going to speak to him about your marriage."
"Ohh, okay." Rachel still did not feel threatened and looked at her brother provokingly.
"And that you will be giving him grandkids soon. I am sure that will motivate you."
"Noah..." Rachel seethed and her brother laughed at her wickedly.
"I am going to kill you."
"Try me."
Rachel huffed, not knowing how to argue with her annoying brother. She folded her hands, went silent, and did not speak to him for a long time.
"Rachel?"
No response.
"Sister?"
Again, no response and Noah sighed lightly.
"Fine. Once Grandpa recovers, I will speak to him about you and Daniel."
This caught Rachel's attention and she glanced at her brother from the corner of her eyes.
"After Theo's matter, of course."
"Sure. But I have a condition." Rachel turned serious all of a sudden and Noah did not miss the change in her tone.
"What is it?"
"I will only get married after we handle Jared."
