"I will only get married after we handle Jared," Rachel stated with all conviction and Noah stared at her for a long time, trying to see through her.2

"Are you sure about it?"

"Yes. I know my wedding will be anything but ordinary. So, I do not want to give Jared a chance to attack us. You know a crowd is always a good place for anyone to carry out their plan without getting noticed." Rachel was adamant and Noah did not mind this condition.

It was her wedding and she had the right to call the shots. If she wanted to marry only after the danger ended, he would respect her wishes.

"Does Daniel think the same?"

"He has left everything to me. I am sure he will agree with me on this at least." Rachel assured him and Noah nodded in understanding.

"That's great then. But I will still mention you and Daniel when Grandpa recovers so that we know that this matter is on the chart. This will give the old man something to look for. Also, we can get the two families to meet at least. We need to know each other's families before we go ahead with the wedding."

"I am fine with that." Rachel accepted his arrangement and could not wait to tell Daniel about it.

"By the way, where is he? I haven't seen him for quite some time." Noah did not mind that Daniel had not visited Grandpa since he was hospitalized. He knew everything about Daniel and his family and the man himself had sent him messages, apologizing to him for being unable to visit the old man.

"A close relative of his was sick and they passed away a few days ago. So, they have gone to attend the funeral." Rachel replied and Noah let out a sigh. "I am not sure who the relative is. But it seems he was someone who had taken of Uncle Adler after his parents away."

Noah already knew about this matter from Daniel. So, he did not probe further into it and looked at the old man who had not moved an inch from his initial position.

Silence filled the ward for a few seconds before Rachel's sigh broke it and Noah's attention returned to his sister immediately.

"What's wrong, Rach? What's bothering you? And don't tell me that nothing's bothering you." Noah intervened when he saw her about to deny his words. "I see it on your face. It's stuck to your face. Now, tell me. What happened?"

"I am just worried if Grandpa and Mom and Dad will accept Daniel or not?"

"And why do you think they will not accept him? Is there something about him that might give him negative markings?"

"No. But I am still worried." Rachel bit the inside of her cheeks and her lips stretched into a pout in worry.

"Before anything else, do you really think Grandpa and Dad have no idea about you and Daniel?"

"What?" Rachel almost shrieked in disbelief. If not for the hospital, she sure would have screamed in shock.

"Lower your voice, Rach. Grandpa is sleeping." 

Rachel calmed down instantly and sighed in relief when she noticed that her sudden outburst had not woken up her Grandpa.

"How did Dad get to know about it? I mean I know Grandpa has an inkling about it, considering that he met Danny when I was involved in an accident. But Dad...."

"Do you really think Dad has no idea about it? Do you really think he is uninvolved in his children's lives?"

"How long has he known about it?"

"I am not sure about it. You need to ask him yourself. But I feel he has a fairly good opinion of Daniel and his family. Otherwise, he would have long stopped you from dating him."

This relieved Rachel a little and she smiled faintly. "That was unexpected."

"You are Dad's princess. He has to ensure you are not being led astray by anyone or kidnapped by the wrong person." Noah scoffed lightly and Rachel could not help but gush at his words.

Even though her brother did not show his love for her much, sometimes, his actions would show how much she meant to him and that was enough for her.

Even now, he had not spoken anything. But his expressions alone were sufficient for her to learn that he was aggrieved that she would soon no longer be just their family's princess.

"Daniel is one lucky bastard."

This got Rachel laughing. "I know. I tell him the same all the time."

"You dated the right guy on your first shot."

"Yeah. I think we girls have a knack for finding the good guys. Don't you think so?"

"What do you mean?" Noah had no idea what she was speaking about and waited for her to explain.

"Well, not just me. Look at Aria and Ivy. If I am not wrong, it's their first time being in a serious relationship too. Although Ivy did date in her student days, I don't think it lasted long, considering what a jerk the man was." Rachel spat in disgust. "But now, she has Joshua and Aria has you."

"I think I know where this is going."

"Good for you. But I will still say my words. Unlike them, it's not the first time you and Joshua dated and definitely, they are not your first."

The last words were clear and Noah realized what she was referring to.

"But I don't think Daniel was your first too. You were not a virgin when you met him."

Rachel did not argue with him and looked away. "Hey, that was just a drunken mess and we were not at all serious."

"Yeah right." Noah scoffed. Although he was not the one to care about his sister's sex life, he still felt strange talking about it with her. "But I really happy for you."

If Daniel was Aria's friend and she could vouch for his character, it only meant the man was worthy and good. He trusted Aria's judgment more than the man himself. So, he had no qualms about letting him be with his sister.

"I know. I am happy for you too. You found an amazing person."

A tacit understanding transpired between the brother and sister.

"Do you want some coffee?"

"No, thank you." Noah shook his head.

"I will be back soon. I need some caffeine to keep myself working."

"Sure. Take your time."

Rachel glanced at her Grandpa and after making sure that he was still asleep, she exited the ward, leaving her brother to look after him.
