Mo Roulan looked toward the stage with blank eyes. Her hand was held by Cheng Yang.

"What is he saying?"

She heard him asking her and shook her head indicating that she didn't hear what He Jian said to Shen Yiling. 

His voice had been low and since they were standing a little far away from the stage, they didn't hear anything. 

However, she couldn't help but feel that he didn't say anything nice seeing how shocked Shen Yiling looked. 

In fact, only Grandfather He and Shen Yiling who were standing on stage had heard He Jian's words. 

Shen Yiling's eyes were wide as she looked at He Jian. It took her a few moments to find her voice. She gulped before she started in a very soft voice.

"Brother Jian…"

However, even before she could finish, He Jian interrupted her sharply.

"Shut up."

He Jian had visible disgust in his eyes as he looked at Shen Yiling coldly who no longer knew what she should say in front of his merciless insults.

Grandfather He frowned as he looked at his grandson. When He Jian looked at him coldly, he was not afraid and instead reprimanded him for speaking like this with Shen Yiling. 

"That's not the way to talk to a girl."

He Jian smiled coldly on hearing his grandfather's words.

"Unfortunately Grandpa, your grandson doesn't care about the gender of a person. I only care about their deeds and her deeds are not so good for me to talk to her respectfully. How did you even think that I will marry her!"

Saying this, he stepped forward and took the microphone from his grandfather's coat.

Grandfather He tried to stop him. He knew from He Jian's words that he wouldn't do anything right at this moment. However, He Jian easily avoided his grandfather's hands and attached the microphone to his blazer. 

Grandfather Shen, Shen Zhilan, and Wang Weimin who were seeing all this looked at each other with frowns on their foreheads. 

"Father…"

Shen Zhilan whispered and Grandfather Shen immediately nodded his head while saying

"I will go and see what is happening."

Saying this, he opened his mouth and started to walk toward the stage. 

However, he was forced to stop amidst his steps when He Jian started to speak.

"Grandpa is getting old. I apologize for the announcement he made just now because nothing like that is going to happen."

The engagement hall was filled with whispers immediately. 

Shen Yiling's eyes were filled with tears and she slowly lowered her head in humiliation. 

Grandfather He's eyes were blazing with anger while Butler Zhang who was standing below the stage shook his head seeing his master. He had already expected something like this. 

Finishing his words, He Jian removed the microphone from his coat and forwarded it to his grandfather calmly.

However, Grandfather He continued to look at him. 

He Jian calmly took his hand back. He was about to step down from the stage when he suddenly heard a furious voice.

"What kind of joke is this!"

He Jian turned around and looked at Grandfather Shen who had just spoken.

Grandfather Shen glanced at him angrily and then at Grandfather He who looked guilty under his gaze.

"Old Man He…are you kidding me? Did you call my family and my granddaughter here to mock me? First, you come to me with this proposal and now your grandson does this…what has He Family thought of my, Shen Family!"

Grandfather He didn't know what he should say in response to these words. 

He Jian had already said so much. He could only stand there with his head lowered in shame. However, this only made Grandfather Shen angrier. 

Who had said that his grandson didn't listen to anyone but him! Now that he needed to speak …why was he not speaking at all!

Grandfather Shen felt his heart filling up with distress when he saw his granddaughter's trembling shoulders. Even Shi Fengju who was seeing this was very worried for Shen Yiling. 

He wanted to go to the stage and comfort her but he was afraid that it would make people doubt his and her relationship so he had to control himself.

The engagement hall rang with Grandfather Shen's cold voice. 

He Jian's cold chuckle sounded in the engagement hall making Grandfather Shen look at him. When he saw his cold blue eyes, he couldn't help but feel a little intimidated. However, he willed himself not to look away.

He Jian raised his eyebrow as he looked at the man threatening his grandfather and his family.

"If you and your granddaughter had even a little bit of self-respect, then you would have not even come here in the first place after what I did to your Shen family's business."

With his wide eyes, Grandfather Shen who had been staring at He Jian could suddenly feel people's gazes on him. 

He knew there had been a rumor in the noble family circle regarding Shen Enterprises being stopped at an island by He Jian which was actually the truth. 

However, not many people knew about this. 

But after He Jian's indirect confession, now almost everyone knew and hence they were looking at him and Shen family weirdly. 

How desperate they must be to still accept this proposal after what He Jian did!
