The deathly silence inside the room didn't make Chi Rong nervous. 

It was Lin Qianru's pale and blank face that made him question if his decision of confessing his feelings so early was right or wrong. 

Lin Qianru didn't even move and when Chi Rong was about to say something or ask her if she was alright, she suddenly leaned forward and whispered to him.

"Mr. Chi, is this some kind of act?"

Chi Rong looked confused at the woman to whom he had just confessed his feelings sincerely. 

"Is your uncle somewhere here and watching us?"

She asked him as her eyes looked towards the door and then into the room as if trying to find some kind of camera.

When Chi Rong heard her words, he didn't know if he should laugh or cry. 

Could he blame her for thinking like this? 

Their start was actually slightly ridiculous. For a moment, his mind told him that he should say 'yes' and back off. 

He should not risk what he already has with his confession. However, for Chi Rong, that was running away. 

And he never does that. 

"No!"

He said firmly. 

When Lin Qianru again looked at him with blank eyes he continued 

"My proposal was real and true. I want to marry you. I lik…"

"Mr. Chi!"

Lin Qianru stopped him before he could complete his words. 

She looked away from his eyes, making his words sound more trustworthy and sincere. 

What was going on?

That was the only thing that came to her mind at such a moment. 

Chi Rong could see that he had shocked her so he didn't say anything. Picking his phone, he messaged the manager and soon a waiter entered the room.

Lin Qianru sighed when she saw the waiter. She wanted to leave right now. 

She looked at Chi Rong but the latter didn't look at her at all. 

The man ordered the dishes for her as well without even asking her. 

Lin Qianru was not a fool who couldn't understand that Chi Ring was doing it intentionally. He was trying to leave no option for her but to stay. 

She felt angry at such behavior.

When the waiter left, she said immediately

"I would be leaving, Mr. Chi. Have your dinner."

Her voice was neither cold nor too soft, it was as if she was talking to a stranger. 

It scared Chi Rong but he didn't show it. 

Lowering his head, he calmly looked at his phone and in his equally calmly voice, he said 

"Sit down."

His voice had a silent command that made Lin Qianru raise her eyebrow. 

He might be her employer but he didn't have the right to order her in this matter. 

Chi Rong also seemed to realize this and raised his head. It could be that he never liked a woman in his life so it will take him some time to adapt himself like a man who behaved gently with the woman he liked. 

He smiled gently and said 

"The food will be here soon. You are not allowed to leave before finishing dinner. What if you get sick because of missing dinner?"

"I will have something later."

Lin Qianru said and was about to stand up when Chi Rong spoke again

"So you wish to waste the food I have ordered, Qianru? I used to think that you never liked to waste food."

Lin Qianru frowned when she heard this. 

She actually didn't like to waste food at all. The days of her past few years had taught her how precious food was. Since then, she would never let the food go waste. 

Chi Rong saw that his method seemed to be working so he continued 

"If you left, I will ask them to throw away the leftover food. You can't take that home."

He said as if he realized that she would suggest something like this. 

Lin Qianru looked at him as if she was seeing a completely different person. 

Chi Rong sighed as if he realized what she was thinking. He himself was shocked by his behavior. In the end, he said honestly what was on his mind. 

"I merely told you what is in my heart, Qianru. I am not forcing you to marry me. I will never do that. We are adults. You can take your own decision and I will respect it. Let's have dinner, okay?"

At his words, Lin Qiianru suddenly felt that she was overreacting. 

Indeed, Chi Rong was not forcing her. 

She could take her own decisions.

As she thought about all this, the waiter entered with the food. 

Chi Rong himself served the food in Lin Qianru's bowl.

Lin Qianru silently looked out of the window. Many things were going on in her mind. 

Why would Chi Rong propose to her? She wondered. 

Could it be that it was his uncle who forced him to do so? However, when she remembered his true and sincere eyes, she didn't know if she could really say that. 

But even if his feelings were true, so what? 

The man she had loved and abandoned anything to be with him suddenly flashed in front of her eyes. 

And her eyes went slightly hollow.
