He Jian Blames Himself

"What did you ask from Lanlan, Dad?"

He Jian asked his father who raised his head from his laptop and looked at him calmly. He Zhuang was silent as if he was pondering on whether he should tell his son or not. But in the end, he did answer his question

"I only asked her why she broke up with you when you were not at fault?"

He Jian was silent at these words. A moment later, he said coldly

"It was my fault, Dad."

He Zhuang frowned at these words but He Jian continued

"Lanlan was my girlfriend. I was supposed to protect her and her family. I was supposed to keep her happy. Instead, I brought tears to her eyes. If it was not because of me then Shen family would not have done so."

"It was not your fault, Jian."

He Zhuang tried to convince her son but He Jian looked adamant.

"It was, Dad."

"Lanlan can stay angry at me. I don't mind it. She can do whatever she wants from me, I won't say a word and I would request the same from you. Please don't upset her. I just want her to stay here…in my sight. Her absence makes me go crazy."

He Zhuang stared at his son silently when he heard these words.

He didn't really know what he should say.

"I understand."

He said in the end

"Thank you, Dad."

He Jian said respectfully before he left the study room.

Behind him, He Zhuang sighed and pressed his temple. He didn't know how he was supposed to manage the situation. He could only hope that his mother would do something.

His mother was his last hope.

Lu Jinan gulped the whole glass of wine down his throat in one go and kept the empty glass back on the table with some force.

The bartender looked at him strangely until he heard him say

"One more."

"Yes, sir."

The bartender poured more wine into his glass. 

Lu Jinan stared at the glass as he remembered what He Jian had said to him.

He had first asked Lu Jinan what the latter said to Mo Roulan.

Lu Jinan told him honestly. He could see that He Jian was angry but he didn't regret whatever he said.

"Jian, she was lying, right? You didn't marry her forcefully, right? I am sure."

But Lu Jinan was proved wrong with He Jian one cold yes

"Yes, I married her forcefully. She didn't want to marry me but I went against her wishes."

Lu Jinan had been shocked.

"How can you go behind her even after seeing how she left you behind!"

He had said exasperatedly.

But He Jian had only looked at him coldly and asked

"Did you stop loving Tian Yuan when he left you?"

Of course not. But his Tian Yuan was different.

"My Tian Yuan is not greedy."

"And so is not Lanlan."

He Jian had said sharply.

Lu Jinan was baffled. He couldn't understand how could his friend not see Mo Roulan's true colors.

He now believed whatever Shi Fengju used to say two years ago.

Mo Roulan became Cheng Yang's girlfriend when she came to know that He Jian was going to marry Shen Yiling and as soon as the engagement broke between Shen Yiling and He Jian, she broke up with Cheng Yang.

She became He Jian's girlfriend but then again threw him inside when her mother got a rich husband and hence she gained a rich father.

Now as a young miss of the Chi family, she no longer needed He Jian so she threw him aside.

He had been so furious when he had seen He Jian in that state two years ago as if he had lost his everything after Mo Roulan left him.

If He Zhuang had not been there to make He Jian understand, then Lu Jianna was afraid that He Jian would take his own life.

Though he let Mo Roulan go as she wanted, he couldn't live without her.

When for two years, He Jian was alright with Mo Roulan, he had started to think that he had forgotten Mo Roulan but he had been wrong.

Lu Jinan realized suddenly that He Jian's love was way deeper than he had thought.

But Mo Roulan was not the right person to love in his eyes.

Yet for such a girl today He Jian talked to him that way.

"If you can't accept and respect Lanlan as my wife then don't come to see me again. Our friendship ends here today."

He had been stunned when he heard those words.

How could He Jian end years of friendship so easily just for a girl!

Lu Jinan was hurt.

"Jinan!"

He came out of his thoughts when he heard someone calling his name.

He frowned when he saw the man walking towards him. The picture was blurry for some time and when it got cleared, Lu Jinan called out immediately2

"Fengju…"

Such a coincidence. He had been thinking about what Shi Fengju used to say and he found her here only.

Both the men were silent after they were standing in front of each other. 

It has been two years since they saw each other.

It has been two years since He Jian had broken his friendship with Shi Fengju and Lu Jinan remembered that the reason had been none other than Mo Roulan.

His blood boiled when he thought this.

"How have you been?"

Shi Fengju asked suddenly but before Lu Jinan could answer, he asked another question.

"How is He Jian if you have met him?"

Lu Jinan smiled bitterly when he heard the question.

"He has gone crazy behind that girl….a girl who loves nothing but his money."

Shi Fengju frowned when he heard these words. His eyes were filled with concern as he asked

"Who are you talking about?"

Lu Jinan scoffed in response and said

"Who else it can be except for Mo Roulan?"
