Forgiveness

The next morning, Mo Roulan remembered that she had to go for dinner at Song Xinyi's place. The whole day in her hotel room, she worked with her colleagues.

They have started to make the wedding dress now and they were deciding the cloth and place where they would make it. 

After working till evening, Mo Roulan got ready for the dinner.

Song Xinyi sent a car for her.

Around eight she was walking inside the huge mansion where Song Xinyi lived.

Her eyes went to the dining table where Shen Youlin was putting the dishes on the table.

"Yiyi…"

Shen Youlin raised her head to say something to Song Xinyi who also came out of the kitchen with another bowl in her hands when her eyes suddenly fell on Mo Roulan.

Shen Youlin went stiff.

"Roulan…"

Song Xinyi also looked at Mo Roulan.

Seeing how Shen Youlin's eyes teared up, she sighed and held her hand after she put the bowl on the dining table.

Holding Shen Youlin's hands, she walked to Mo Roulan and said aloofly.

"Welcome, Miss Mo. Thanks for accepting my invitation."

Hearing her words, Shen Youlin looked at Song Xinyi with wide eyes.

"Yiyi…you…"

Song Xinyi however smiled at Shen Youlin and leaned down to kiss her cheek.

"Come, the dinner will get cold otherwise."

Shen Youlin nodded her head dumbly. She looked at Mo Roulan before she walked to dining table with Song Xinyi.

Mo Roulan followed them silently.

The dinner started and the three of them were completely silent.

Shen Youlin, however, from time to time put the bowls of dishes near Mo Roulan. Song Xinyi who usually received such treatment from his girlfriend had her lips pressed in a thin line.

Mo Roulan could see it very clearly but she ignored it.

Hence, the dinner passed in an awkward silence.

When they were finished, Shen Youlin was looking at Mo Roulan again.

Mo Roulan, on the other hand, looked at Song Xinyi.

Though Song Xinyi was unwilling to leave Shen Youlin alone with Mo Roulan, she sighed and said

"Linlin, I need to do an important call. I will be back in five minutes."

Saying this, she walked away from there while Shen Youlin looked at her back with wide eyes.

She then turned to look at Mo Roulan again.

Seeing Mo Roulan's expressionless face, she didn't even know if she should talk or not. In the end, Shen Youlin knew that she had been at wrong and it was her duty to apologize.

That was the least she could do.

Taking a deep breath, Shen Youlin finally said

"Roulan, I know that you are angry with me…but I am really sorry. I …didn't want to…I don't know why I did that. Now when I think about whatever I did, I realize how bad of a friend I have been to you always. You always gave to me in our friendship while I always took. I …even betrayed you."

Shen Youlin started to choke as she cried. Covering her mouth, she sobbed as silently as she could.

"I am …really s..sorry. It was such a precious friendship…but …I stained it with my selfishness."

Shen Youlin's shoulder shook fiercely as she cried.

She was surprised when a pair of arms suddenly held her waist and she felt warmth surrounding her heart and body.

Mo Roulan patted her back gently.

Shen Youlin was surprised but she immediately hugged her back. Tears didn't stop escaping her eyes as she cried her heart out.

There had not been a single day where she regretted her actions in the past two years. Whenever she would remember how Mo Roulan had looked at her coldly two years ago, she would feel as if her heart was bleeding.

If it had not been for Song Xinyi by her side then Shen Youlin didn't know if she would have been able to hold herself together.

Mo Roulan stepped back a few moments later.

Shen Youlin had stopped crying.

Mo Roulan's face was no longer emotionless but there was a calmness in her eyes.

"I forgive you, Youlin."

Mo Roulan said calmly.

A smile emerged on Shen Youlin's tear stained face.

"Really, Roulan? Then are we friends again?"

"No"

Mo Roulan said calmly and Shen Youlin's eyes dimmed again.

"I won't be able to trust you again."

She said honestly.

Shen Youlin's lips quivered when she heard these words but Mo Roulan could only pretend as if she didn't see it.

She had understood long ago that there was no harm in saying what went inside her heart out aloud. It would save her from regrets.

To her, Shen Youlin would stay Shen Yiling's sister now.

The seed of doubt had been sown between them. If Shen Youlin could do it once, then to Mo Roulan, she could do it again as well.

She could forgive her since she was apologizing but it didn't mean that she could forget as well.

"I forgive you genuinely."

She said softly when she saw how Shen Youlin's had a crestfallen expression on her face.

Shen Youlin didn't raise her head. Mo Roulan knew that if she left just like that, then there would be a tight knot inside Shen Youlin's heart always.  1

She didn't want that.

She wanted to end everything peacefully.

"Will you choose Song Xinyi or me, Youlin?"

Mo Roulan's sudden question took Shen Youlin by surprise.

"Roulan…"

She whispered unaware of how to answer the question.

"You can't choose, right?"

Mo Rulan smiled softly as she said these words.

"You have loved me in the past."

Shen Youlin's eyes widened when she heard this. How did Mo Roulan know this!

"It was Song Xinyi who told me and she doesn't like you around me now."

Shen Youlin opened her mouth to speak but Mo Roulan continued

"You can't blame her. She is right at her own place. Will you be fine if you were in the same situation?"

Shen Youlin pondered on what Mo Roulan said and frowned deeply.

She will not.

And Mo Roulan got her answer from her silence.

"It is better for both of us if we stay away for each other. I hope that you will get a lot of happiness in your life, Youlin."

Mo Roulan finished her words and then turned around to leave.

Shen Youlin silently looked at her back as she watched her going outside the mansion.
