644: The Apology

The Apology

Mo Roulan asked somewhat surprised.

He Jian smiled but didn't say anything.

Of course, he had to do many things to get Chi Rong's apology. He didn't tell Mo Roulan that he took care of Lin Qianru for a whole three days under Chi Rong's eyes.

All in all, he had to assure Chi Rong that he was serious about his Lanlan, that he would never leave her amidst, and that he would not let whatever happened two years ago, again. 

The apology was not accepted easily but He Jian had been determined.

That apology was not for him.

It was for Lanlan.

He told Chi Rong how he blackmailed Mo Roulan and put six months deal in front of her to make her agree to come with him.

Chi Rong had been so angry that he had punched him hard. Fortunately, the injury vanished away by the time He Jian met Mo Roulan.

But after a whole week of slaving in Chi Mansion, He Jian was successful in making Chi Rong accept his apology.

But he didn't want Mo Roulan to know this.

Chi Rong was inside the room where Lin Qianru was resting.

The butler told them so Mo Roulan took Lin family and went to the room with Mo Chen.

On the way to the room, Mo Chen held his sister's hand and looked towards Old Lady Lin who had been looking at him every now and then with affectionate eyes.

"Jiejie, who are they?"

He asked his sister finally.

Mo Roulan looked at Mo Chen and answered in a low voice.

"They are mother's mom, dad, and brother."

Mo Chen stopped walking for a moment when he heard this. He …he never saw them in his past life. What were they doing here?

However, looking at the old lady's affection-filled eyes, Mo Chen couldn't even doubt her intentions.

She seemed to have a nice heart.

He thought.

Soon they reached the room. Mo Roulan pushed the door gently.

They saw Chi Rong wiping Lin Qianru's hands gently with a cloth and Lin Qianru was deep asleep. For a moment, Mo Roulan thought that the words that her mother was awake were a lie until Mo Chen spoke up.

"Mom was tired while waiting for you, Jiejie. So Dad asked her to sleep and promised to wake her up when you will be here."

Mo Roulan nodded her head stiffly.

On the other hand, Old Master Lin and Lin Yu who watched this scene looked at each other.

Chi Rong actually seemed sincere in the way he was taking care of Lin Qianru but of course…nothing could be judged at one glance.

Chi Rong also sensed someone's presence and turned to look toward the door.

He smiled when he saw Mo Roulan and Mo Roulan finally saw the brightness in his eyes which she never saw in the past two years.

That brightness made her believe that her mother really woke up.

Chi Rong didn't see others because only Mo Roulan was in his sight who was standing at the door. Lin's family members had already stepped back.

Chi Rong put aside the cloth in his hand and kissed Lin Qianru's forehead before he walked to the door.

After he closed the door, he opened his arms and smiled warmly

"Roulan…"

Mo Roulan blinked furiously when tears threatened to fall down from her eyes and immediately hugged Chi Rong.

"Dad…"

Her voice came out muffled.

Chi Rong smiled when he heard her calling him Dad. It never got old. Every time Mo Roulan and Mo Chen called him dad, he felt immensely happy.

Chi Rong's smile however vanished when his eyes fell on the other people present. He frowned as he recognized Lin Yu, Old Master Lin, and Old Lady Lin.

But he nodded his head in greeting.

Lin Yu did the same.

When Mo Roulan stepped back, she also saw Chi Rong looking at Lin family members with serious expressions on their faces.

"Dad…they are Mom's parents and brother."

She told Chi Rong.

Chi Rong was surprised. His eyes were blank before he composed himself very soon. A moment later, a bitter smiled graced his lips.

"I never knew we were connected this way."

Mo Roulan looked at Chi Rong in confusion.

"Dad….what are you saying?"

It was Old Master Lin who spoke up this time.

"I had fixed your mother's marriage with Chi Rong before she left home and married Mo Weimin."

Mo Roulan was shocked.

She still didn't know many things but the information surprised her.

Mo Chen was no less shocked.

Chi Rong was still smiling bitterly. He had not seen Lin Qianru even once back then. It had been his uncle who had fixed his marriage but even his uncle had not seen Lin Qianru.

Later, he got to know that the girl loved someone else and left her family to marry that man.

He had actually admired the woman's courage for her love.

But he himself never married or tried to look for someone to marry after that.0

Now so many years later he was suddenly getting to know that the woman with whom his marriage had been fixed was none other than his current wife.

Chi Rong came out of his thoughts when he heard the sound of something falling from the room. He immediately walked to the room, opened the door, and stepped inside.

"Qianru…you should have called me."

Chi Rong said helplessly when he saw how she was trying to get down from the bed.

She had been lying down on the bed for two years and hence her legs were not stable enough to bear her weight. She needed light exercise before she would be able to stand on her feet. 

Mo Roulan stood at the door of the room as she looked at her mother.

Though she wanted to run towards her, she couldn't do so. Her legs didn't seem to listen to her mind and she felt as if she would wake up from this dream if she moved even slightly.

It was only when her mother looked towards her and called out in almost a whisper

"Roulan…"

Mo Roulan immediately strode to her mother and hugged her mother.

Nothing could stop her tears any longer.

Her mother was awake.

She had blamed herself for these whole two years. She had blamed her fate and thought that she could be granted only one thing.

But what now?

She had He Jian in her life and her mother also woke up.

Mo Roulan really needed to question her own questions.

Was she really destined with only one thing?

Either her family or He Jian.

Or could she really have both …as Song Xinyi said.
