He Jian Assurance To Lin Qianru
At this moment, Lin Qianru and He Jian were inside the room.
Mo Roulan was worried as she paced outside the room anxiously. Chi Rong stood silently but his eyes went to the room from time to time.
Inside the room, Lin Qianru looked at He Jian silently.
As a few moments passed in silence, He Jian realized that it was he who need to speak.
"Auntie, if you are worried that my family won't accept Lanlan then there is no need to worry about this. My family has accepted Lanlan already."
He Jian would have called Lin Qianru 'Mom' just like Mo Roulan. He liked it because it made him feel closer to his Lanlan. But he was aware that she didn't like him much at this moment and he didn't want to aggravate it.
So he went with 'Auntie'.
Lin Qianru frowned when she heard these words and said
"What about your grandfather? He had come to me with a proposal of adopting Roulan as his granddaughter. At that time, I didn't think much but now after knowing your intentions, it is very clear why your grandfather did that."
He Jian went silent. He knew what Lin Qianru was trying to imply.
And what she thought was true. His grandfather didn't want him to marry Mo Roulan before.
"My grandfather didn't like Mo Roulan before but now he has accepted her."
He Jian said firmly.
But Lin Qianru merely chuckled.
"You are the only heir. They can even pretend for you. I may have stayed from the noble family circle for many years but I know how it goes there. They will pretend in front of you but what if they made things hard for my Roulan behind your back."
Lin Qianru had suffered the burn of a marriage that she thought would be filled with love.
She had wanted to look for a man for her daughter who would be honest and not much rich. He should have enough to fulfill her daughter's needs but he should not be greedy or much ambitious.
Also, He Jian dating her daughter behind her back didn't settle well with her.
He Jian also didn't know now what he could say.
He knew that his grandfather had accepted Mo Roulan from his heart but he didn't know what he could do to make Lin Qianru believe him.
It was difficult.
Words could never be enough evidence.
He thought silently and slowly the frown on his forehead vanished.
"Auntie, my grandfather didn't want me to marry Mo Roulan because she had an ordinary background. He wanted my wife to be from the noble circle only. But now there is no such issue. Lanlan has Chi Family as well as Lin family backing her. Even if she didn't have, I would never let anyone bully her. Even if I will have to leave my family and cut off ties with them, I will do so but Lanlan is my wife and I will protect her till my last breath."
The coldness in Lin Qianru's eyes was reduced to some extent.
He Jian's words were reasonable to a great extent. Indeed, Mo Roulan now had Chi and Lin family backing her.
But….
"I can do nothing about the age difference between me and Lanlan."
He Jian continued further.
"But I can assure you that I will try my best to understand her. It would never lead to any misunderstanding between us. It will not stop her from progressing in her career. Also…though there will never be a situation where I will divorce her…I have already written everything I have in my name. If I die or we get divorced, Lanlan would never face what Auntie faced in her life."
Lin Qianru's lips quivered when He Jian said his last few words.
He Jian had understood where Lin Qianru's worries emerged from.
"Auntie, I really love her. I don't how to prove it but all I can promise you is that I will buy the world for her if it makes her feel happy."
.
.
.
It was around half an hour later that He Jian came out of the room.
Mo Roulan walked to him as soon as she saw him.
"What happened? Is Mom alright?"
He Jian smiled. He cupped her face and said gently
"Everything is alright. Don't worry."
Mo Roulan frowned in confusion seeing him so relaxed. She had been worried.
He Jian was usually so cold and indifferent. She had seen him soft and gentle with her only so she was worried that his cold behavior would make her mother angrier.
Although he had been polite to her mother in the past, what today required was rationality and reasonableness!
She didn't know if he would bother to explain so much to her mother.
Seeing that she was not convinced, He Jian sighed and said again
"She accepted me. She also said that she will hunt me down if I made her daughter unhappy."
Chi Rong chuckled behind them when he heard He Jian's words. He imagined Lin Qianru saying these words coldly and wondered how adorable she must have looked.
Even Mo Roulan couldn't believe that her soft and gentle mother would say such words so she asked with wide eyes
"She really said that?!"
He Jian smiled seeing her cute expression.
"A mother can fight anyone for her children."
It was Chi Rong who said these words. Before going inside the room, he patted his daughter's head and said firmly
"But she won't need to do the hard work. I will hunt him down on my own if he made you upset."
Mo Roulan felt her heart filling up with warmth as she looked at Chi Rong going inside the room.
She couldn't help but think that it would be fine even if it didn't work out between her and He Jian.
She had so many people to love her.
She would be able to hold herself together with their help if she faced heartbreak again, wouldn't she?
Yet it showed she was already preparing for it.
It was not her fault.
After all, happiness had always been hard to get in her life.2
